Arrowhead History: Longest Kick Returns

The New Arrowhead Stadium will debut at the end of August when the Chiefs host Philadelphia in a pre-season game. After 38 seasons of Chiefs home games, the building has been updated with 21st Century amenities.

Remaining within the stadium shell are memories of the hundreds of games that have been played there since the summer of 1972. Within those games have been some memorable performances by members of the Chiefs and the visiting teams that will be featured over the next weeks leading up to the opening of the new Arrowhead.

Today, it’s the longest kickoff returns in Arrowhead Stadium history.

I can still see Dante kicking dirt in the donkeys faces, juking left, right, dip, circle around & taking off. The shock on Shanahan’s face was priceless. What a joy to remember! Dante . . . This BUD’s for you!

Oh how i miss Dante!(when he was good) I hope Arenas and/or McCluster can be as good or better than he was. That punt return against the donkeys was amazing!

    This from Sporting News:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wide receiver Eddie Kennison has signed a contract with Kansas City so he can retire as a member of the Chiefs.
Kennison played in 91 games for Kansas City, from 2001 through 2007. He ranks seventh in team history with 5,230 yards receiving and eighth with 321 receptions. He also ranks fourth with 17 games with at least 100 yards receiving.
Kennison was a first-round draft pick from LSU in 1996 by St. Louis, where he played until 1998. He played for New Orleans, Chicago and Denver before going to Kansas City. He rejoined the Rams for one season in 2008.
He finishes his career with 548 receptions for 8,345 yards with 42 touchdowns.

As a matter of trivia, the longest opening kickoff returns in Arrowhead history are Dante Hall’s in 2004 against Denver and Jamaal Charles against Pittsburgh last season.
