Why can’t the Chiefs afford nice cameras during preseason and non nationally televised games? This is embarrassing. I flip over to the Saints game on ESPN and it’s crisp and clear. I’m going to change the channel after this first drive that the cheifs have on defense because the picture is so terrible.
Hi Bob,
To your knowledge, has there been any discussion or consideration given to the possibility of transitioning Pollard into the mike role?
Williams and DJ give us nice speed and presence on the outside while Pollard seems to have the right build plus good ball & hitting skills to dominate the interior. The only real knock I have on Pollard is his open field tackling which shouldn’t be as much of an issue at MLB.
Given the apparent lack of suitable alternatives combined with what Morgan has shown so far, doesn’t this sound like an idea that is at least worth a looksie? I’d love to see what he could there.
Thanks,
Double D
Bob,
Sorry but I had to do it.
SIPPIO! SIPPIO! SIPPIO!
Bob,
You forgot Charles on your final 53
I read the article on the Chiefs web site about Herm Edwards poor luck with QB’s injuries and changes. Herm does not have any idea why he has this problem. Herm need only to look at his draft picks over his coaching career. From 2001-2005 at New York Jets, he selected 36 picks over 5 years and selected only 6 offensive line players 1 in 3rd, 1 in 4th, 1 in 5th, 1 in 6th, and 2 in 7th round. With the defensive line getting 7 picks 2 in 1st, 1 in 3rd, 1 in 4th, 1 in 5th, and 2 in 7th round. From 2006-2008 in KC we see much of the same, selecting 25 total picks only 4 offensive line players 1 in 1st , and 3 in 6th round. With the defensive line getting 5 picks 2 in 1st, 1 in 2nd, 1 in 3rd, and 1 in 7th. Over the 8 years he has been a head coach he picks his offensive line men in the later rounds and picks the defensive line earlier. This shows why your QB get hurt your OL are late picks. This years draft was much of the same with 12 picks we selected only 2 OL players in a draft that was very deep with OL players and we take 2 TE where we have an all pro and only need 3 on the team compared to 8 or 9 OL. Let Herm know his QB’s will keep getting hurt while our OL gets little help from the draft where we are building the team. We know he is defensive oriented, but one thing a team needs is an offensive line that protects the QB.
Thats good stuff Jim E
Psycic prediction
With the 1 pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs pick Chase McDaniels of Missouri.
Been a fan for 40 years and will be till I die, but Sunday was —— I cant bring myself to say it, I’ll just hang my head. Bright spot- it cant get any worse,Can it?
Good article on kcchiefs.com.
I do beleive in the rebuilding and really enjoy the young players growing and getting better but I have concerns…
1-Damon gives us the best chance to win, and winning is a huge part of development
2-Is the current regime good enough evaluators? Tamba Hali, 1st round, very average at best.
Derrick Johnson, 1st round, even the coaches are waiting for a break out year
3-Lastly, Clark Hunt needs to be the face of this orginization. Talk to the fans, let them know you are committed to winning and you understand wha tthe fans are going through.
NONE OF YOU HAVE A JOB WITHOUT US…THE FANS!
Thanks for your time.
Hey Bob. I read your article on kcchiefs.com. Cute. Very cute. I have to say…I don’t think you are being honest with yourself. The fact is Herm’s searching for the right players to make this team is now coming at the expense of the fans and most of all the PLAYERS! Herm treated this game like it was preseason. You tell me what business Hagans had on the field last sunday. If Herm doesn’t start Huard this Sunday it will be evident that his ego has gotten the best of him. Remember when Herm said, ” You play to WIN the game!” He’s a good preacher, and a DB coach, but not a head coach. I gotta go…Brian, Tony, and Larry are leaving and I want to say goodbye.
hey bob i was at the game on sunday and it was sad which we all no but in my 15 years being a cheifs i have never seen the booing at the team like i did sunday in fact clark hunt needs to get rid of to people herm and carl peterson iam so sick of him say we draft this we draft that how come he dosent say playoffs this superbowls this cuz we dont have any of them the best coach was marty but they never got along with carl iam very sad and iam done until carls gone and herm tim tebow is going to be chiefs next year thanks
I would like to see Herb Tyler play on the right side instead of McIntosh. I would also like to see if Richardson can play some right gaurd. Richardson is strong and can run block but he has a long way to go as a pass blocking tackle.
I just want the whole “youth movement” or “rebuilding” thing to go the whole way. I personally find it exciting and I think the Chiefs will only get better!
When will the Homer Simpson experiment end?
Starting at QB: Tyler Thigpen? Huh? An eighth round pick discarded from the Vikings; a team in desparate need of a QB.
The next time you see Herm on the sideline with that “doh” look on his face, think of Homer Simpson.
The team is a wreck; no offensive line and no real plans to rebuild one. The defense is overworked because teams know they can turn the ball over and nothing happens. Against NE, the Chiefs had the ball near midfield after the first turnover. Result? Run, Run, Pass… Punt. Where is the risk taking? On several plays, it was clear NE was overloading one side of the offense yet no timeout was called and no audible to adjust against the defensive scheme.
The team is lost, the coaching is overmatched, the fans are digusted and the players are in turmoil.
How much longer will the Homer Simpson experiment last?
Hey Bob,
I have really enjoyed listening to you on the radio and reading your articles. I have been a CHIEFs Fan since 1969 when I was in eigth grade.
I can not beleive the mess Herm Edwards and Carl Peterson have made of my CHIEFS. I was at the playoff game when we lost to Indianapolis. We had great coaches, and a great offense. We needed a great defence. Here we are several years later, our offense is destroyed, we still need a defense, and a quality coaching staff.
Bob, more than anything else, I am tired of “waiting for next year”.
Again, Bob, Thanks for the great articles.
GO CHIEFS!!!
Mark
Having watched the last 11 out of 15 games including preseason it has come to a conclusion that Herm has got to go. He was instrumental in the shambles that the Jets were in while he was there and if that wasn’t enough, he will do it to our Chiefs. Everyone made made a great deal of the fact that he made the playoffs the first year he was here. Does any one remember that the year before that the Chiefs record was actually 10-6. Better than Herms recorded 9-7. That means the rest of the conference was weaker. Herm is a great coach (in his own mind). I wonder if Bill Cower will come out of retirement.
hey bob i love listing to u and jsut to say herm has to go he thinks everythings a joke and he always say we have to get better but we get worse every week its boring to watch the chiefs lose it use to be fun getting ready fo ra game now its not i wonder if we are going to get tim tebow and i wounder if bill cower will come out of retirement go bill we need him clark
Bob,
Do you have any blackout information regarding this game? I realize that this season is going to be filled with a lot of lows, but I would still like to watch our rookies and young players develop and get better. Will the game against the Donkeys be on TV? Thanks.
Bob - what is the problem with the offensive play caling? It appears very similar to the play calling that got Solari fired. I find it hard to believe that we brought in a new OC only to have him call the same game. It is embarassing. My wife an I can sit here and predict each play with a high rate of accuracy (and neither one of us have played organized sports at any level since we were kids). I didn’t expect a lot of wins - but I did expect us to be competitive.
We actually bought season tickets this year expecting some changes from the play last year. We will not be renewing if things continue this way. It is too far to drive from Denver to get embarassed this way.
well, I had high hopes for this website and have appreciated Bob’s articles, but censoring and deleting comments are unacceptable (specially when they are neither vulgar and stick with the topics at hand). It limits the free speech and communication. It appears that Mr. Gretz really is uninterested in having a true ‘comments’ area but just wants to ‘preach to the choir.’
The evidence is at the link below for who want to see.

but this will likely get deleted too.
the above post is mine. Heard from Bob and it seems like a complete misunderstanding on my part. He says they arent censoring anything and I believe him.
Once again, my mistake and I dont mind if he deletes the above post. sorry.
Hey Bob!
I just wanted to let you know that your site is awesome and I wouldn’t get any info your updates if your site wasn’t here. Keep it going buddy!
