Pre-Game Report 10/11 Inactives Update

From Arrowhead Stadium

11:10 a.m. – Chiefs on the field in the throwback 1962 Dallas Texans uniforms and they look good. Besides having the state of Texas on their helmet, the only real differences are the stripes on the socks and the red uniform tops do not  have any stripes on the sleeves. Cowboys are in their throwbacks with a blue jersey and then white along the top and across the shoulders with stars on top of the shoulders. They are wearing white helmets with the big blue star.

11 a.m. – Commissioner Roger Goodell is in the house. Goodell is on the field and spending his time with Jerry and Stephen Jones of the Cowboys.

10:35 a.m. – The game-day inactives for the Cowboys today are WR Roy Williams, RB Felix Jones, S Michael Hamlin, S Gerald Sensabaugh, G Montrae Holland, T Pat McQuistan and LB Curtis  Johnson. The inactive third quarterback is Stephen McGee. Dallas made a roster move on Saturday, promoting RB Chauncey Washington from the practice squad and releasing OL  Duke Preston.  Washington will wear No. 31.

10:30 a.m. – The game-day inactives for the Chiefs today against the Cowboys are TE Jake O’Connell, RB Dantrell Savage, OT Ikechuku Ndukwe, CB Mike Richardson, LB Pierre Walters , WR Quinten Lawrence and  WR Bobby Engram.  The inactive third quarterback is Matt Gutierrez. Engram being inactive is a surprise. It’s got to be the first time in many years that he’s a healthy scratch on game day.  Todd Haley has three tight ends active today.

Matt  Gutierrez is the inactive third quarterback.

10:05 a.m. – The quarterbacks and receivers are on the field warming up in their normal pre-game drill and catching passes with the receivers are OLB Mike Vrabel and S Jon McGraw. Interesting. I wonder what Todd Haley might be up to today. We know Vrabel’s history and he lined up as a tight end in a goal line situation last week. McGraw has no history of being used in that fashion, but he was a walk-on freshman wide receiver at K-State 12 years ago.

Savage and Engram inactive? Seriously??? Charles better step it up today.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Here we go again with the refs. How can they call forward progress when they never blew the whistle. Generally that’s what a ref does when the stop a play. Ridiculous!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    Why is Washington playing?

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Failure is when you keep doing the same things over & over again expect a different result. Cassel what a great start throwing a 10yrd squire in on a 3-19 You lovers can keep him…… So far this season he Sucks.PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

TOUCHDOWN CHIEFS!!!! 2nd round draft pick combines for TD!!!!! I’ll take ‘em PnS.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

What ever happened to JohnNDallas? I’m sure he has plenty of people he’d like to rub a KC victory in on. Hope we can keep things rollin’!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Defense is lookin’ good. Let’s not self destruct and get production on offense!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I wish they would take Page out of man coverage. It’s going to give me a heart attack before this game is over.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

As fast as Leggett is, why don’t they play more press coverage? Even if he gets burnt initially, he still has the speed to make up for it. I hate seeing him give up all these long plays right in front of him.

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Gosh Charles look so much better than LJ even if he fumbles the ball leave him in please.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I agree. LJ is so lethargic to watch. I’d like to see him inactive as opposed to Savage. Savage is a playmaker.

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Left side of the line is getting out performed by the right side so far. Callaghan has shored up that side pretty decently. Now if Waters and Albert could step it back up, Cassel would have a decent amount of time to make some passes.

We got to get the run game going better though. Cowgirls are plannin on pass 9 times out of 10 so our receivers are all covered. But all in all, we are doing a lot better!!!

    GO CHIEFS!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Larry says:

this playcalling is killing us – LARRY IS DONE

  • October 11, 2009  - Hawaiianchief says:

defense is playing well, corey mays showing up. Where is DJ is he still hurt?? I love the black shoes can we keep them

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

The only thing with the black shoes …..It make their footwork look like the are in slow motion .Look at it in the 2nd half …..well maybe they are that slow footed

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Ok, Callaghan screwed that one up.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    John,
Why’d you jinx him man? It’s all good. Nice punt colquitt.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

DORSEY!!! This spin move? Really? Lets get ‘em!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Hawaiianchief says:

Don’t complain about the play calling, that last series shows you exactly why, we run for 2 yards and a cloud of dust

I think we are just that slow unfortunately

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Alright o’line, let’s get this stagnant offense moving! We believe in you! Now get it done!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Cassel getting hit 4 of 5 on dropbacks is so sad.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

We need Cassel to give some hard snap counts. Dallas is jumping the snap big time!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Did you guys see Siavii on dallas’ d-line? If anything, Cassel gets his 60mil from all the hits he takes. This may lead to many medical bills at the end of his career.

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Yeah, no line…Cassel is taking a beating this game…fortunate for us he appears to be strong enough to take em.

If our line can give him the time to spread the field some and then hit ryan or pope in the shallows…we could definitely move the ball that way.

We also need to figure out a way to get the run game going. Don’t care who it is, but there is no reason why our QB should have more running yards than our RB’s.

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

God our all pro Lt side is sucking today .PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I was thinking, Danny Devito could play a good Hank Stram in a Chiefs movie. And we could use a wet paper sack to play the last 3 years offensive line. What do you guys think?

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

I was thinking more like a piece of red thread!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

The D is definitely fired up, nice QB pressure and a sack!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Maybe if the thread were made of tissue paper?

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

We got to keep the pressure on Romo.

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

    CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on Haley! Don’t Herm your timeouts with stupid challenges!!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

is that a head coach rookie mistake, boy it would be nice to have a fast running back!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

We do. Charles! But we keep giving it to LJ the sloth.

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Our oline should learn how to hold like Dallas 3 holds on that score alone

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

why does he keep running sLowJo out there how embarrassing!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

longest run of the day, no thats Cassel, still!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Come on D! This is our 4th quarter guys!!! Let’s make some noise!!!! I know I’m making my TV rattle!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

I’ve got faith that we are NOT going to throw this game away. We will continue to play to a greater level and win this game.

Albert, although while screwing us in some plays will come back in and be able to hang and maintain Ware. Although it does look like he is getting tired.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    CARRR, YOU PUSSYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

LET’S GO OFFENSE!!! LET’S GO OFFENSE!!!

Would love to see a deep ball to D Bowe for the TD!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Yeah, CF82…he just stood there and watched him catch that ball…not sure what the hell he was thinking but it definitely was not “ATTACK”.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I would too John, but Bowe is not that type of playmaker. Unfortunately! I just want to see Charles running and some good pass blocking. Let LJ and his ‘ego’ sit on the f*cking bench.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Nobody is afraid of LJ! Get him out of the game!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

HOLY CRAP….GRRR can we please stop with the stupid mistakes??? Best we can hope for is more Dallas mistakes to keep us in this one.

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Cut him, trade him, put him on the practice squad…but no matter what, get rid of LJ cuz he is absolutely sucking. I realize that we need to provide him some holes, but they can’t be the size of a COMBINE for him to make positive yardage.

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

we get a break and he hands the ball to sLowJo? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I hope Goff leaves and gets replaced ‘permanently’ at RG. I have not been impressed with him at all! As much as I hate the personal foul call, that is definitely a makeup call for last week so I will take it.

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

thank god for Bowe, has a little fight in him!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

What happened, did somebody shock LJ with a cattle prod? If so stick that daggum thin up his arse and keep it there.

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

Cassel has some heart, I need to give him a little more time!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Cassel sees holes better than LJ.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Lazy lineman!!!!!! That should be our goddamn mascot until we get this crap fixed!!! I’m sick of stupid crap like that!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Mad Chief says:

Dallas has tried almost every way you can think of to hand the Chiefs this game on a silver platter. And the Chiefs just cannot get it done. Sad, but true.

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

That’s why we are 0-5 some one well give it up. PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

1 on 1 with a WR that’s beating us all day long different game same story PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

For those who want to know why Cassel gets paid as much as he does…. He is the toughest player on this team! He get hit more than anyone else and he welcomes it. He sticks in there and tries for every single inch. I wish I could say the same about everyone else on this team, that includes you Bobby Wade!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Please guys!!!!! Give me something to be optimistic about!! I make excuses for you all the time. Prove me right. I’m begging you!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

This team has works too hard. They deserve this!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

    unbeleeeeeeveble!!!! GO CHIEFS

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

4th and 7 how awesome that should give this team a big dose of confidence!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Gretz’s website has not posted two very good posts I have made today.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Alright Defense, I am begging again! Let’s get a stop!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

I had a post censored also, I ghuess thats what everyone was asking for!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - David Henderson says:

All I can say is this team is fighting hard, GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I wish we could hold as much as Dallas!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Leggett is the worst f*@king tackle corner (thank you Herm) in the history of Chiefs football!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

    Where is Flowers today??

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Who knows? Leggett is garbage! He gave up 50% of the yards on defense!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I complained about Washington giving up passes earlier in the game. But at least he could tackle after he let the offense catch the damn ball! I am so pissed right now!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

Well if Haley didn’t start Flowers for Leggett thats a huge mistake…

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Way to go Leggett! You let a kid from Monmouth college look like an All-Pro today! I wish Haley would coach up our players as well as he did for Dallas before he left.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    Arrowhead,
i don’t know where Flowers was (other than getting HELD on run plays). He must’ve been left on one side of the field. That is how Surtain was, he was only good at playing corner on one side. I am so disappointed right now and I don’t know who else to blame it on other than Leggett. I’d like to see him inactive next week over Savage!

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

If DBowe had caught that damn ball we might actually have had a chance to win that game. Can’t believe it. Even if there was slight interference that ball was in his hands. He should have caught the damn ball. Period.

  • October 11, 2009  - Alexthe"GREAT" says:

Cassel and Haley SUCK!!!! Play calling was terrible and the refs gave us a chance 2 tie in the end. Can blame our line this game, Cassel had an adequate amount of time 2 throw the ball but took sacks instead of throwing it away.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I think we may have mis-evaluated our talent at cornerback because they were drafted to play in the cover 2. This team is on its way. Albert is not the answer at LT. I think Cassel is worked over more than Albert but at least he finds a way back to the field. Albert needs to be moved back inside where he played in college and then, maybe, we could get a run game goin’!

  • October 11, 2009  - Jim Lloyd+ says:

IF MATT WOULD KEEP IT UP !
HE CAN THROW THE BALL WHEN HE HAS TO !!!!!!!!!!

GET RID OF LARRY JONSON , HE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN , EVEN JOE BUCK SAID HE WAS ” DONE “

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Nah, Cassel is the man. Most props to him. I can’t stand that we lost though! Once we have a decent line, then we will be a pretty good team. I agree with LG needs to sit. And Savage should be starting with Charles backing him up. Did Battle play?

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Dantrell Savage = Preist Holmes Jr.

  • October 11, 2009  - Jim Lloyd+ says:

DID THE REFF ‘ S STICK IT TO KC AGIN ????????

    THAT WAS A FUMBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PLUS MORE THAN THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Well Cassel showed me something today Toughness he has it …..I thought I was watch that energizer Bunny ….he takes a licking & keeps on ticking . We just don’t have it in play makers/talent/OF/DF coaches to win at this time . Well it change…….yes but not this year PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Yeah Alexthe”GREAT” Cassel had all the time in the world…and the line was great today…that is why he was hit over 20 times.

While I believe the line did better today, specifically the right hand side, they still need work.

Cassel is one tough son of a gun to take the beating he did today and to keep coming back. DBowe and Wade both dropped some passes they should have caught.

LJ is done and needs to be put out to pasture. Don’t believe that the Charles, Savage, Battle trio is the final answer but is a step better than what we got.

Our secondary is hurting and needs some serious attention right now. Poor tackling lost this game for us. Not Haley or Cassel. POOR TACKLING.

  • October 11, 2009  - Rodeo John says:

Again, for those that might be confused by emotion…

OUR TACKLING, OR LACK THERE OF LOST THE GAME TODAY. NOT CATCHING PASSES THAT HIT THE HANDS HURT AS WELL.

NOT HALEY. NOT CASSEL. THEY ARE NOT TO BLAME FOR THIS LOSS.

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Could we get any draft pick for LJ ????? Pregame said the Raiders are looking to get rid of players ….maybe a trade with Al ??? Farrgas even up ……Yes PnS

  • October 11, 2009  - Anonymous says:

Although I want LJ to sit, I’d hate to see him on the Raiders, surely someone in the NFC could use him.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • October 11, 2009  - joe says:

Does anyone beleieve this team is better than last year’s? Lucky for me I’ve accepted the fact that we are horrible and though was excited that today may be a day for our win, for the 28th, 29th time I’m let down. I feel like we’re the NY Knicks of Football!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I have submitted 3 posts busting Leggett. Maybe this one will go through. If not for Leggett giving up 14pts and 100+ yds, our defense played great. At least Washington was making tackles when he gave up catches. This coaching staff seriously misevaluated Herms cover 2 DBs. They cant tackle for beans. Leggett is garbage and Page’s skills are seriously gettling exposed!

  • October 11, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

well when your not getting to the QB all CB’s flaws will be exposed, they had way to much time still to stand back and let routes develop.

  • October 11, 2009  - joe says:

Its like every team we play is able to expose our DB’s. Do we have an in house issue of evaulating talent or teaching fundamentals? I mean jeez.. EVERY TEAM WE PLAY THEY BREAK SOME SORT OF RECORD!!! When will it stop!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    arrowhead,
good receivers will make catches. Leggett just needs to learn to tackle. Period!

  • October 11, 2009  - joe says:

I hope Haley cuts Leggett while he’s still in the locker room…Disgusting…I mean tackling? your on defense isn’t that a prerequisite?

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I agree joe. Leggett is a turd! He single handedly blew that game. He let Austin take the lead and take the W. The refs didn’t help. Someone asked where Flowers was? On the run that lead to the win, he was getting held big time!

  • October 11, 2009  - Alexthe"GREAT" says:

Yes arrowhead78, Tyson Jackson hasnt shown any1 anything yet,Dorsey looked great and so did Gilberry. Mike Brown is done..he was out of position numerous times that turned into big plays. Not trying 2 make an excuse for Leggett but he had help over top with Brown who missed alot of tackles 2day. Washington looked lost out there but Leggett still should have made the tackles and why did Clancy put Flowers in the slot? Dont think they threw at him more than twice 2day and blitzed him quite often being he is our best cover corner, strange game plan.

  • October 11, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

Yea leggett should have had that tackle but Brown took a really bad angle at him also he should have been able to tackle him after he broke the leggett tackle

  • October 11, 2009  - joe says:

I thought CB’s were our strength…Do we have one? Another note, were we the home team? Couldn’t tell Cowboys fans owned our Stadium and our team. These games make me appreciate the ol Herm days lol 2nd thought naw…

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    arrowhead,
Brown can tackle! He could’ve made the tackle if Leggett slowed him down. That is why his angle’s were off. He plays the game to clean up the corner mess, not do the corner’s job. Corners who miss, need to at least slow the receiver down. Leggett missed, but showed no tackling ability what so ever.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    joe,
our DB’s prob do look good in a cover 2. That is not our defense. We need corners who can tackle! Not miss every crucial play. Leggett gave a new meaning to gambling and ‘missing big’!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

I wonder if we keep playing LJ to develop some trade bait? He is not getting the job done at all. His production combined with his attitude make me hate the guy. I want him out of KC. Even if he makes a good play, I feel our backups can do it better!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

For the record, I am not impressed with Jackson thus far, however, we did not speak fondly of Dorsey at this point of the season either.

  • October 11, 2009  - Alexthe"GREAT" says:

Go look at Tyson Jackson stats for this year 3 tackles in 5 games R U KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is completely unacceptable for a number 3 overall pick. At the end of the day it is no longer about scheme and hand placement its can u beat the man in front of u.Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Atleast consider moving him 2 DT were we wont expect much more than collapsing the pocket from him)

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

Says the guy who is blaming Mike Brown for F’ing Leggett’s mistakes. Okay Alex. You’re right. It is all Jackson’s fault.

Hey. I have an idea. Let’s blame HALEY for not putting Jackson on Miles Austin.

Alex, were you the same guy crying about Dorsey last year? Tyson had nothing to do with missed tackles in the secondary!

  • October 11, 2009  - Alexthe"GREAT" says:

Fan 82, everything is based off a chain reaction. Due 2 no pressure being applyed on the QB that allows WR’s 2 break off thier routes and make new 1’s. I for 1 stood behind Dorsey all year b/c I saw the potential and the flashes he made game in game out. Just b/c u arent getting sacks dont necessarily mean u arent productive. Jackson is doing squat for a #3 pick. No flashes of ability just a big body nothing 2 hope for in the future. @ be honest with u Leggett didnt lose the game Haley did. We had numerous opportunities 2 score in the red zone and settled for field goals, bad play calling once again is why we came up short. If u noticed it wasnt until that personal foul call that bailed us out on the game tying drive, Haley decided 2 open up the playbook FINALLY!

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

    Alex,
Jackson was brought in to eat up blocks so LB’s can make plays, which they did today. Dallas did a good job at blitz coverage. He was not drafted and expected to sack the quarterback. I understand the concept of applying preasure so the QB has to rush throws, which I didn’t think was that bad on the Chiefs part. HOWEVER, when a receiver catches a pass, the CB has to tackle him. NOT commit to batting a pass, MISSING, and also MISSING the tackle. Receivers WILL make catches. The league is designed to pan out that way, but our CBs need to stop the receivers when they make these catches.

  • October 11, 2009  - Chiefs Fan 82 says:

There is no telling how Jackson would do in a 4 man front like he played at LSU, which he was good at in college. The pros is an entirely different animal for D-lineman in this league. i am not at the point where I would call Jackson a bust. Our d-line did not have anything to do with our DBs missing tackles, PERIOD! Jackson MAY be better with a 3-4 NT. He may be better with NFL caliber starting LBs also. I will night blame him YET. I am jsut as frustrated as you with our record right now but Jackson is not to blame my friend. I generally would not place blame on an individual for their performance in a team sport. HOWEVER, I feel Leggett’s piss-poor performance was the result of more than half of Dallas’ points and almost half of their passing yards.
