Really umimportant move. Make fans happy but does not effect the team or what is happening on the field one bit. At least the soap opera is over.

This has to be one of the top ten days in ALL of Chiefs history. This is the best news to be heard today …………. or any day. Now we can truly have the right 53 on our TEAM!! I look forward to seeing a vast improvement in the TEAM performance on the field.

It is all about the TEAM…….and the right 53!!

The only disappointment was the Chiefs not making this move before the trade deadline and getting something in return but one has to wonder about LJ’s value to other NFL teams.

Still, with a team like the Colts who are struggling to run the ball again coupled with Donald Brown’s injury, could we see LJ wearing blue sometime soon? Overall, I’ll join the chorus and say, good riddance.

I disagree. I think it WILL affect the team. One less whiner in the locker room. One less player on the team that didn’t want to be here. I would call that “important”.

I doubt if the “soap opera” is over, either. I imagine the NFLPA will file a greivance against the Chiefs on LJ’s behalf.

This is probably not the prevailing opinion, but I’d rather lose with honorable players than win with bums. When the choice is losing with good guys and losing with bums the choice is even easier. Good riddance.

The one Thing that the Pollard loss is that a team out there will think that the Chiefs are cutting a lot of good players for unknown reasons and they think they can make him fit in . May be true !
If so and it happens before tommorw afternoon it will save the Chiefs about two and a half Million.
He will have to be picked off the wire .

    Aloha Ray
WOW!! You have said it best!!

  • November 9, 2009  - ChuckDiesel says:

I hope that he goes to a contender with a good O-line. He could get picked up by New England or some team like Pittsburgh I feel that he would be happy happy in his heart and run with reckless abandon just like he used to to prove to the Chiefs they were wrong.

I mean I’m glad he’s out of Kansas City because he was bringing down the team with his attitude. But I hope that he can go to a system where he will be happy and not mess up again.

I hope he ends up in pennsylvania with Pittsburgh or Philadelphia so that he can go back with his family and work out his inner issues

    Mad Chief :

NFLPA can NOT file on their own , has to be done tru the player , and if you were Mr. Larry / a need to get out of Dodge , Would you ???

great day to be a chief fan, ive waited for this for YEARS…FINALLY…8 more games without LJ? then an offseason, and next season….never again with that cancer….THANK YOU PIOLI…

those that question pollard gone with his big game must realize what babb said, he said pollard was AWFUL in the locker room, so im willing to use morgan/draft someone else to get the locker room where it needs to be

Yes. A good thing happened to KC. Who’d a thought?

  • November 9, 2009  - BLACKCHIEF29 says:

Good move. Somewhat intriguing that they kept him to start with this year. I am having grave concerns about Haley’s leadership this year. He seams in over his head and trying to cover up for his insecurities.
If Pioli is not careful, he will allow Haley to cloud his rep which will also reflect poorly on Clark Hunt. Haley should be on a very short leash at this point. Yes, talent was poor to begin with but I’m smelling a “hostage camp” that seams to be building. IMO, Haley is not handling his first HC Job correctly.

I hope LJ gets signed so we don’t pay another dime on this spoiled kid.

Fire those tweets up Waters and DJ and D Bowe; LJ has shown the way out of this hellhole.

    Adios LJ

The Chiefs have to pay him no matter what. If he signs with another team…he’ll get paid by them AND us.

    Jim Lloyd+ says:

“NFLPA can NOT file on their own , has to be done tru the player , and if you were Mr. Larry / a need to get out of Dodge , Would you ???”

I was under the impression that they could. I stand corrected.

Here is what I saw yesterday WITHOUT LJ. Even in the limited number of runs I saw passion in running from Smith, Charles and Savage AND I saw a much broader positive response from the very guys blocking for them.

This release doesn’t just improve the locker room or the play calling; it effects the passion of the men required for execution of the plays! This is nothing but great news (and I too wish LJ well and hope he gets help for the demons that haunt him)

Yes indeed. And if those guys want out? Then let ‘em go. Our GM and Coach have said they only want players here who WANT to be here. I agree 100%. The only way this organization is going to get its pride back, is to have players who will lay it all on the line for this team. Anything less is unacceptable.

  • November 9, 2009  - Niblick says:

The only way the Chiefs could avoid paying him if some team claims him off waivers before 3PM tomorrow. I don’t think that will happen. If a team wants him they will just wait to sign him as a free agent. That way, the Chiefs have to eat the 2.2MM salary and that team can pay him the minimum salary.

  • November 9, 2009  - Arrowheaded says:

LJ will be a Raider by the end of the week…he fits right in! I’m sure he’ll love the Bay Area. Too bad he’s used up…

“The only way the Chiefs could avoid paying him if some team claims him off waivers before 3PM tomorrow.”

Was just reading about that. Damn…I was wrong again. My apologies to BLACKCHIEF29. I thought we had to pay him no matter what.

It will be interesting to see if anyone claims him…or if he becomes a FA.

  • November 9, 2009  - colby says:

Smith, Charles and Savage all had runs where they made something out of nothing yesterday. All three of them ran hard and played their butts off out there. I was encouraged. Perhaps we can get something going against the Raiders next week. They are a terrible run defense and with more commitment to our new-look running game, perhaps we can sustain some drives for longer than three plays at a time!

Also, once Cassel builds up his comfort level with Long and Chambers, I think we’ll have a very effective WR trio before the year is up. I’m seeing some positives, but we’re still a long way off.

  • November 9, 2009  - Ludacris says:

This is the best move for both parties. The Chiefs suck right now and they just might suck for a while. L.J. needs a line. He’s not Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson. L.J. is a powerback. Oh yeah, the Chiefs line is horrible. I hope Larry lands with a good team and shows everybody how good he is. The team is rebuilding which is why Tony wanted the hell out of KC.

  • November 9, 2009  - Jim Lloyd+ says:

I think the Redskins will get him off the waiver wire today and Larry knows that , and they have a plane waiting for him when their # comes to get him processed this week . I could be wrong , Tampa-The Browns-St.Louis-Detroit—–Tenn.??
Page & McGraw return with the dust having setteled.
Todd then will be happey and the Radiers won’t !!!!!

  • November 9, 2009  - Hawaiianchief says:

Aloha Larry, I always gave you the benefit of the doubt, and you kept making the same mistakes.

I personally think he still has talent, he just needs that amazing oline to create the holes, so he can get a head of steam.

Wouldn’t be surprised if New England took a look at him, there notorious for taking bad guys and assimilating them. Don’t see Pittsburgh doing it, they already have a big back.

  • November 9, 2009  - gorillafan says:

    good points colby.

I know defenses change and players change there attitude when the win is almost wrapped up. But, I got to hand it to them. our offense sucked for most of the day, and they didnt quit. I actually was suprised to see how they came back.

this team with a little more time and players can do some good things

  • November 9, 2009  - CK- 30 yrs STH says:

How many of you LJ haters are season ticket holders?
Tony G gone for a #2 NEXT YEAR. LJ gone for our teenager HC’s pride and ego. Our best athlete left is DJ so I guess he’s gone next.
It’s easy to be self righteous with a remote in your hands on game day. Not so easy when you pay $4K every year and drive almost 3 hours to watch this crap.
Meanwhile we have a HC who NEVER put pads on, NEVER hit or been hit, and a GM that looks who can only sign Parcells/Belicheat cast offs.

Great day for self righteous remote holders.

  • November 9, 2009  - Jody says:

And now that there is no LJ to scapegoat anymore let’s go back to talking about being 1-7 and the most inept coach/run franchise in the league. At least the other crummy teams actually try to win and play their best players.

  • November 9, 2009  - MenInRed says:

    There is a God.
    Thank You.

This was a Clark Hunt move given to Pioli, Haley wanted & liked LJ and if he would of had it his way LJ would still be here.

    GO CHIEFS!!!

  • November 9, 2009  - el cid says:

CK my sympathy. Wish I only invested 4K. Totally agree but my business gets the charge for the tickets and can make money to break even by selling the games I do not want to go to. Until the year which sucks big time. Also have 3 nephews who love tail gating with free tickets. Still next year who knows, if hockey came to KC, for get the Chiefs just like the Royals.

PS It is hard to enjoy the process when this year is one big trial period.

As posted in the chiefs locker room: “Losers assemble in small groups and complain about the coaches and other players. Winners assemble as a team and find ways to win.”

Sell my your ticket and put yourself out of this misery.

    GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!

  • November 9, 2009  - ED says:

Best move for both the organization and Larry. Chiefs needed to move forward and so did Larry. Larry hopefully can find a team that has a solid offensive line the guy still can be a 1200 to 1300 yard back for a team with a solid o-line.

As for Chiefs this is a rebuilding yr. My hopes started out a little too high like most fans but reality set in after set in after the Eagles game. Its going to be good to see Charles and Kolby get some more opportunites. Now if only Haley show the same commitment to them running the ball like he did Larry. Those guys showed they got the burst Larry lacked getting through the whole even behind a bad o-line. Time move on people its time we look forward to win number 2 against Oakland.

  • November 9, 2009  - el cid says:

Ed good post, I heard a long time ago you win your home games and split the away games and you regularily have a good season. It is obvious to all of us the Chiefs are not much this year…..so I doubt they will win sunday. Oakland is a bad team with one of the worst strong armed QBs in the NFL. BUT they beat Philly and that team kicked our rears…..so probably another loss.
