NAME – Kendrick Lewis

BORN – June 16, 1988 in New Orleans.

FAMILY – Son of Clarrissa Lewis and Bennie Paul.

PERSONAL STATS – 5-11 5/8, 194 pounds, 30½ -inch arms, 8 5/8-inch hands.

MORE PERSONAL STATS – 4.65 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 16 reps at 225 pounds on bench press, 30½-inch vertical jump,

HIGH SCHOOL – Attended O. Perry Walker High School in New Orleans until 2005 when he re-located to Gainesville, Georgia because of Hurricane Katrina. He finished his high school career at Gainesville High School, graduating with the class of 2006.

ATHLETIC CAREER – As a junior at Walker, he led the Chargers with 2,260 offensive yards, starting the season at quarterback and finishing up at wide receiver. He ran for 740 yards, passed for 860 yards and had 660 receiving yards. He also scored 34 touchdowns. In his senior season in Gainesville, he caught 41 passes for 740 yards and 9 TDs for the Red Elephants.

RECRUITMENT – Recruited nationally by schools like UCLA and Michigan, Lewis received the most interest from Auburn, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. But he committed early to Ole Miss and never wavered in his agreement to go to Oxford, MS.

FRESHMAN SEASON ‘06 – As a wide receiver, he played in six games, finishing the season with five catches for 31 yards.

SOPHOMORE SEASON ‘07 – He played in all 12 games and made 7 starts (6 at free safety, 1 at strong safety). Lewis had 57 total tackles.

JUNIOR SEASON ‘08 – Lewis led the team in tackles with 80, while started all 13 games at free safety. He also contributed 4 interceptions, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 recovered fumble. He had seven tackles against Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl.

SENIOR SEASON ‘09 – He started all 13 games at free safety, leading the team in tackles with 84, along with 2 interceptions, 10 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles and 2 blocked kicks.

ALL THE NUMBERS – 44 games/33 starts … 226 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3 sacks … 6 interceptions, 24 passes defensed … 4 forced fumbles, 1 recovered fumble … 6 receptions for 64 yards … 1 punt return for 6 yards and a TD … 2 blocked kicks.

EDUCATION – Majored in criminal justice.
