Wednesday Practice 10/13 Report-Update

From the Truman Sports Complex

The Chiefs got back to work on Wednesday and began their preparations for the Houston Texans with the normal mid-week practice.

But it wasn’t the first time this week that the locker room was busy with players preparing for the next game, according to head coach Todd Haley.

“On Monday, there were a bunch of guys working overtime in here,” Haley said after Wednesday’s practice. “There were a bunch of guys in here Tuesday on their day off, getting ready for the game. Their focus is on getting a little better every day.”

And how did the bounce back from suffering the first loss of the season?

“I like what I’ve seen and how they worked today,” Haley said. “They got a little bit better today than we were last Wednesday and that’s what we are asking for, a little bit better every day.”

Haley points out that he thinks the Chiefs are traveling a path towards being a good team that the Texans were on as well.

“They’ve had similar experiences and they are a few years ahead of us, but I think they are over the hump,” said Haley. “This is not a team that anybody wants to play right now.”

During the media window at the start of practice 59 of 61 possible players were taking part in the work. In the rehab area there was S Reshard Langford, who is still trying to come off an ankle injury and punter Dustin Colquitt, who was out because of an illness. OT Ryan O’Callaghan (groin) and DE Tyson Jackson (knee) were listed as full participants in the workout.

The best news for the Chiefs was two players who were injured last Sunday against the Colts were on the practice field, taking part in practice – LT Branden Albert with his left elbow and WR Chris Chambers with a finger on his right hand.

The Texans had a length injury report with eight players listed as not taking part in practice and four others listed as limited participation. The players that sat out were: LBs Kevin Bentley (knee), Brian Cushing (knee) and DeMeco Ryans (groin), WRs Dorin Dickerson (knee) and Jacoby Jones (calf), G Mike Brisiel (knee), CB Sherrick McManis (hamstring) and DE Mario Williams (shoulder). Listed as limited were ILB Xavier Adibi (hamstring), S Dominique Barber (ribs), WR Andre Johnson (ankle) and RB Derrick Ward (ribs).

I’m knocking on wood here. I’m really glad to see that we’re healthy. Looks like the Texans aren’t quite so lucky.

How is Tamba’s chin? I’m wondering if it was ketchup and he was just trying to be theatrical.

Lately, I’ve been trying to get a little better every day too. It’s been tough. I don’t see how Haley keeps up the progress, but I’m glad he has been.

Let’s start this quarter of the season off on the right foot with a W.

    Chiefs will.
