One of our #1 last year was for #72, if we want to see him develop more spend the #3 this year on a BEAST. ......... That is right.. Brian Orakpo we need a pass rush, we need a BEAST. Any thing at this position (#3) will be a huge gamble. Sometimes you just gotta say WTF and roll the dice.

Does anyone really believe the QBs available this year are worth the #3 pick? Even if it's Stafford, who was up and down in college? With the #3 pick you have to think best available. Mistakes this high not only hurt your development; they cost you big money. Don't reach for a QB! Take best player available, except a player in the secondary or TE. Tight Ends are rarely drafted this high, anyhow.

Lions have said they want to build with o-line and d-line. No d-lineman worth taking that high. Though they may just be playing chicken with the Rams who badly need an OT. They certainly aren't taking a LB #1 overall.

Picking a LB #3 overall makes me cringe. He better be the next Ray Lewis or Juniour Seau if you're taking him that high.

Chiefs certainly will not trade up. And difficult to trade down from that spot. Gotta assume they'll be drafting #3. QB or OT is certainly a consideration at this spot. Or see if they value a DE this high. If not, Curry seems to be in the mix.

Still like the OT from Virginia over Curry. Would give you bookend tackles for the next 10 years.

Rip,
Like your thinking.

Better to negotiate from a position of strength.

But the Chiefs brain trust may decide they like one of the top 2 QB's, and that would be ok too imo.

Curry is starting to emerge as the must-have guy in the upcoming draft so the Lions will either take him at #1 overall, or shop him if the interest is high enough to entice another team up to that slot.

Consider this scenario if all the tumblers fall in place: Detroit or the #1 slot takes Curry, StLouis takes the OT of their choice.

That leaves the Chiefs with the two top rated QBs falling into their laps. Can you see a team like the NY Jets being interested in a move up for that pick? And what would it cost them to do so? Their first this year and next for openers.

Would the Chiefs pull that trigger? I think they would but we'll have to wait on that one.

Curry obviously has drawn alot of attention, especially here in KC. He appears to have the physical talent coaches dream about. I'm curious if he has the "Right stuff" that Pioli & Haley are looking for. Chiefs scouts have been advised that it's not just about physical talent anymore.
It would seem insane to pass on him if he is available at #3.
Anyone have a solid idea who Detroit is interested in?

What a decision...glad I don't have to make it. Take an incredible athlete (Curry, assuming he is still there at 3)that can do nothing but make your team better, or trade down for more specific picks (players) that will presumably help make your team better. This is why Pioli and his crew get the big bucks. Go Chiefs!
