Tony G. Aftershocks
As could be expected, there’s been plenty of fallout from the Chiefs decision to not deal Tony Gonzalez before the NFL’s trading deadline on Tuesday.
Here are words from Gonzalez himself to Fox Sports Jay Glazer.
In Philadelphia, the Eagles didn’t get Gonzalez or Roy Williams, who went to a division rival in Dallas.
Here’s a story out of Milwaukee that says the Green Bay Packers wouldn’t offer the second-round pick that Carl Peterson was looking for in a deal for Gonzalez.
Up in Buffalo, they don’t understand why the Bills weren’t more active in trying to land a weapon for their offense.
With the Giants, the decision to not trade for Gonzalez was not a surprise, given the way the team has operated in recent years.

Its hard enough for the chiefs to win, and now the chiefs have a lockeroom of players (LJ, surtain, TG, Huard) that know they were being shopped.
This could get real ugly real fast.

Jonathan Rand says,” The Chiefs cannot afford to be viewed as a team for which Pro Bowl players don’t want to play.”

too late for that!
I still think Carl errored if Tony retires at the end of the season.
Pretty simple, a 3rd round pick or nothing?
Carl, “I’ll take NOTHING for 9 million Alex”
Alex, “Chiefs biggest 2008 blunder”
Carl, “Who is Carl Peterson?”
Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!
Bob, give us an up date on the new LB that we just signed. He played for the Titans and Colts and seems to be a good middle linebacker prospect at 6′ 4 and 242 lbs. Now that N. Harris is gone will he move into the starting lineup or just special teams for now. I know he must fit into Gunther’s system as he coached him with the Titans.
Who did they sign Merwin?
Rocky Boiman. per rotoworld.com
Boiman didn’t really distinguish himself in Eagles training camp this year.
All the same, it’s good to see the Chiefs are at least doing something to address their LB situation.
Can play all 3 spots, ST guy.
Maybe Carl will make Boiman give his SB ring with Indy ,to TG to make him happy?
I’m with Merwin, I like the guys size, I just don’t know anything about him.
I too am glad they are trying to address the Mike LB, now lets try to do something about the OL and D-End.

Comment of the day!
Sorry JohnNdallas, I forgot his name, this from NFL.com:
Boiman (6-4, 242) has played in 86 games (19 starts) with Tennessee (2002-05) and Indianapolis (2006-07). He has produced 194 tackles (76 solo), 1.5 sacks (-7.5 yards), five interceptions with a TD, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery in addition to 91 special teams tackles. He has also played in nine postseason games with one start, recording two tackles and 10 special teams tackles.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (133rd overall) of Tennessee in 2002. Boiman saw action in 54 contests (11 starts) with the Titans, registering 113 tackles (66 solo), 1.5 sacks (-7.5 yards), two INTs with a TD, three passes defensed and 59 special teams tackles. He attended training camp with Philadelphia this year, but was released prior to the season.
Boiman appeared in 43 games (21 starts) at Notre Dame, totaling 144 tackles, 8.5 sacks, five fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and one pass defensed. He was a prep standout at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio where he earned all-state honors as a senior.
Thanks Merwin. I’m just glad they finaly cut Harris, Hope this guy works out.
“As far as I’m concerned, if you trade Tony Gonzalez for a second-day draft pick, you really have demeaned one helluva football player.

The utter gall of Carl Peterson is illustrated in that comment. Carl is as disconnected to NFL reality now as Al Davis.
Very much a disaster…I have no idea where this team is heading direction wise…I thought I did, now I really really dont, this made all the sense in the world, grab an extra 3rd, let Tony move on, and get rid of a current bad seed….sigh.
Anyone remember back during training camp when TG was talkin how good this team would be? How his family would ask him about the team and he would say they are going to have a good team and his own family didnt even believe him. In this Jay Glazer interview hes talkin about how he signed his contract he didnt expect to be a part of rebuilding. Well Tony, we were deep into rebuilding when you said all those nice things, now your completely flipping a 180? If you had a problem with rebuilding you should have said so during the off-season when all of the changes were being made, (and it was obvious we had officially begun rebuilding)not when the team is 1-4 and you didnt get to break the record at home in front of your family. TG is one of my top favorite players of all time Joe Montana being numero uno but I am very dissapointed in the way these last couple weeks have gone.
