Texans DE Fined For Hit on Alex Smith

Out of Houston comes word that Texans DE Jared Crick has been fined $15,750 for the low blow he dealt to Chiefs QB Alex Smith last Sunday.

Crick was flagged for roughing the passer in the first quarter because he went too low on Smith, hitting him below his left knee. The 15-yard penalty gave the Chiefs 1st-and-10 at the Houston 38-yard line, and 6 plays later RB Jamaal Charles scored on a 1-yard run.

Smith has not displayed any leg problems this week and he was not on the Chiefs injury report. So, apparently the only person that paid for the low blow was Crick.
