[...] Rosters For East-West Shrine Game-Bob Gretz.com Well, the relationship between Pioli, Weis and Crennel is continually cited but people (i.e. Trent) forget that the relationship with Haley, Weis and Crennel goes back a decade as well. Pioli may have the more recent familiarity with these coaches in New England, but it’s not like Haley hasn’t used both of them as sounding boards throughout his rise from NFL assistant to head coach.
I am thrilled that our DC is coaching this game. It can only help our cause. Not only might we have better insight on a late rounder or two, but Romeo will have the knowledge to recommend some of these guys as rookie free agents too. You can't overlook the undrafted guys. Jovan Belcher was a nice role player for us this year and Maurice Leggett has had his moments too. Not to mention Rudy Niswanger and Mike Cox, who have been starters here for the majority of their careers thus far.

Does it really matter if there are no potential first rounders in this game? Romeo Crennell should have the inside track on some sleepers--guy selected in the later rounds who turn out to be productive NFL players (Ryan Succup, Jarrad Page). The first rounders will get a good look over in the Combine. The sleepers make or break a draft.
