Premium Coverage Begins September 1

At we have moved beyond our NFL lockout hangover and sit in anticipation of the 2011 season.

Because of four months of momentum killing nothing the owners and players handed us, we decided to push back the start of our premium subscription service. Starting on September 1, you will need a subscription to access all the information on

Aware of the tough economic times – we live them everyday – we’ve kept the price at $25 for full coverage of the rest of the 2011 Chiefs season, no matter how long that might be. Subscriptions purchased on or after September 1 will be $35, just as last year.

There’s a bonus for subscribers – for every subscription referral you bring to, it’s $5 off your subscription, up to the full price at $25. Convince a friend, family member or co-worker to sign up, let us know about the connection, and we’ll credit your account. If five of your referrals sign up, then your subscription would be free.

Plus, if you signed up for our special during draft coverage, then you are already a subscriber for the season and you need to do nothing.

Don’t me to be a smart alek Bob, but convince me.
What am I going to get for my money here that I can’t get some where else on the internet for free? Especially when I can read all the info on, Josh Looney and listen to Haley’s Press conferences and other local radio talk shows again all for free….I didn’t do it last season so what did I miss?

You are paying for Bob Gretz’s unique take on the Chiefs. If you have not understood Bob’s style of coverage and if it is worth $25, then it probably isn’t worth it for you. I will gladly pay the fee to get Bob’s personal spin on the Chiefs. I will continue to read Warpaint Illustrated, KC, and Arrowhead Pride, but will always check out Bob’s site too.

Bob, I post your articles on a website / Facebook site called Chief Concerns. They are loved by all and you’ve taught me a lot about writing. (That said, with all due respect, you need a better proofreader ). Unfortunately, I can’t afford the fee (Catholic school paraprofessional / Music Director for a bilingual Catholic parish in Northeast Kansas City) and our fans (especially this one) are going to miss your Morning Cup O’ Chiefs, among your other musings and writings. You’ve taught this rookie so much. Yes, I could still get the info from Arrowhead Pride; but not your Daily Cup O’ Chiefs. This fan will truly miss your columns, wit and all the happiness your writings brings to me.

Susie – Bob does this for a living, earning his money through ad revenue from this site and premium subscriptions. I hope you truly aren’t posting Bob’s articles on your Facebook site, but rather are posting links back to this site so you don’t cheat Bob out of ad revenue.

Mark – $25 over the course of the season breaks down to less than 25 cents per article read. I like Bob’s coverage for several reasons. 1.) Stats – he has access to some stats that some of the other sites do not and spends a lot of time analyzing the numbers for us. 2.) His perspective is that of a realist. We don’t get sugar coated homer coverage and when things go wrong we don’t get chicken little “sky is falling” coverage. It’s a good balance. 3.) Bob knows what he is talking about. It’s worth it to me to get good analysis from someone I trust.

Bob does a really good job of bringing info you don’t get other places on the web and you certainly don’t get it from the KC Star. Its the cost of one supper with the wife or girlfriend at Applebees for a total seasons worth of good info.

Although even Bob struggles with the
Chiefs “secretive ways” he is fairly balanced in his conclusions/observations.

This past year I have enjoyed the coverage and you’ll get my greenbacks again, Bob. Well written, witty, smart and informing football news is so hard to come by these days. Thx for being Bob Gretz – intelligent football reporter, Bob!

  • August 15, 2011  - Denverchief says:

Bob, do you have these available for auto-renew. I don’t want to go thru the pain of this every year. Just set on auto & be done.

  • August 15, 2011  - Fleaflicker34 says:

Het Bob, I’m in again this year. Can’t get this anywhere else, and I like being part of the Gretz site. All the cheap whiners suck anyway. I’m don’t have much extra $ but 25 cents an article beats the hell out of Sam mellinger or any KC Star hack that’s free online.

BTW Bob, you still owe me a “where are they now” feature.

    Gotta love the Bob

  • August 15, 2011  - JM Titus says:

Bob, has followed the Chiefs for many years and was also affiliated with them for some time. I think he understands this organization better than any jounalist out there. If your a Chiefs fan I don’t know why you would not want to get his comments. I’m all in.

  • August 15, 2011  - JohnFromFairfax says:

I am also happy to provide a testimonial. I’ve been an avid Chiefs fan for 40+ years and have followed all of the sites and sources of news and information on them. Bob’s in depth knowledge of the game, team and sports provide a unique perspective that other sources don’t give you. I’ve looked at all of the sites that have been mentioned and the others quite frankly do not compare. I don’t always agree or share a point of view but he’s far and away the best if you’re a serious Chiefs fan. I’ll gladly spare the change to continue and highly recommend Bob’s service to others.

  • August 15, 2011  - Tenand6 says:

A few dollars a month for the best Chiefs coverage/analysis? That’s called a “bargain.” The best Chiefs fans ever had, to paraphrase “The Who.”

  • August 15, 2011  - Hulls4Chiefs says:

Just FYI, as of 10:00AM CST, the Read More… link doesn’t bring me to a payment screen or further info. How am I supposed to be the first subscriber two years in a row if I can’t subscribe? :)

  • August 15, 2011  - COCHIEF says:

Bob brings a unique, knowledgeable, candid perspective on the Chiefs – not just information copied from other sources and/or positive PR spin. To me, Its well worth the money.

  • August 15, 2011  - Mark says:

I Remember reading Bob’s articles in Chief’s Report back in the 80′s so I know Bob’s work. I’ve been a Chiefs fan since 1973 so I’ve been around awhile.
I was just curious “From Bob” not being an “insider” at Arrowhead any longer what I should expect. I realize $25 isn’t very much money. So if it’s not very much then why charge at all? Just sounds a little egotistical to me.
I’d rather he just charge all season long than say during the season my stuff is so good you have to pay to read it. Please.

  • August 15, 2011  - Lees Summit Chiefs fan says:

Bob is a true professional, and well worth the $25. You won’t find crap and speculation on this site as he is most always talking facts, and when he posts his opinions, he tells you he is doing so. Although I don’t post very often, the posts of the other subscribers are well thought out and intelligent. All around it’s a great site. I would pay double (although I can’t really afford to, so please don’t raise the price Bob) if need be to get the excellent Chief’s coverage that Bob provides!

  • August 15, 2011  - jim says:

I’m in again for all the right reasons………….again.

  • August 15, 2011  - Kiowa says:

Im in, always have been. If anyone thinks they can get all of the sorts of coverage that this site brings to the table, show us otherwise. Fpr example, all the work and articles about the HOF process and what Bob goes through, that was awesome.

  • August 15, 2011  - David says:

Easily, and by a wide margin, the best Chiefs coverage. Echoing Hulls4Chiefs…. now, how, exactly, do I go about renewing? The “read more” link offers no clue.

  • August 15, 2011  - Niblick says:

There is no link availabe yet for sign-up. Once it’s up I’ll probably sign up. Bob’site always has information that’s not avaiable on other sites

  • August 15, 2011  - Susie Hodson says:

Jessie…I do link them back to this site. I know it’s how he makes a living. Although (no offense intended) I’ll be damned if I pay for something I can get somewhere else. I love ya Bob…I really do…but this idea is a bit over the top.

  • August 15, 2011  - Susie Hodson says:

    Lee’s Summit Chiefs Fan…that’s just it. I can’t afford it…I wish I could…but I can’t.

  • August 15, 2011  - Skip Sage says:

Quick question: If you are currently subscribed, will the subscription renew automatically?

  • August 15, 2011  - Fleaflicker34 says:

What’s “over the top” about the man making a living, and you CANNOT get what you get here ANYWHERE else free or not, this is Bobs job for f****sake

  • August 15, 2011  - Josh says:

I went ahead and clicked the Premium Subscription link: on the right hand side of the home page. Seems like the same Paypal payment from before. Have at it, Chiefs Nation! Show Bob some well-deserved support.

  • August 15, 2011  - Kenneth says:

What I like about Gretz is that when he see’s something at #1 Arrowhead drive that doesn’t look right or sit well with him he’s not afraid to tell it like he see’s it and he doesn’t sugar coat it.

The writers on the Chiefs site (Looney and Holthus) are nice guys and all but they work for the Chiefs and are paid by the Chiefs so if something in the Chiefs house stinks they don’t have the freedom to go in depth like Bob can.

Count me in again for this season.

  • August 16, 2011  - Jimbo says:

Just renewed my premium status for another exciting season of Bob’s insight, humor and all Chiefs things you can’t get anywhere else.
    Go Chiefs.

  • August 16, 2011  - freeman says:

sorry can’t do it. this basicaly paying for one man’s opinion….and I’ve held bob opinion in high regard because it very similar to my own. I’m actually turned off by the whole idea of paying for information such as this. heck real news doesn’t cost this much and it’s mostly facts so why should fooball opinion cost anything.
In fact I’m done with bob for good.

  • August 16, 2011  - bleedredandgold says:

Bob you’ve got a helluva site here, but I can get all the Chiefs info I need on Arrowhead Pride for free. I’m surprised no local newspaper/website has offered you a job? Or maybe you could get back into radio? I always enjoyed your sideline updates on 101 The Fox.

  • August 16, 2011  - BigJimInWisconsin says:

I paid for Draft coverage this year that I did’t follow, because I support Bob. I was unemployed for 18 months and I knew all the $dollar menus$, but I still supported another man’s work.

In a society where people willfully pay over $4 for a daily cup of coffee from a trendy shop, we have people complain about things that are actually worth the money. With all due respect, I don’t mind if people don’t want to visit Bob’s webwite. It’s your prerogative. But, much like the caffeine fix, you’ll be back.

SUPPORT and your daily Cup O’Chiefs! I do.

    Go CHIEFS!

  • August 17, 2011  - RW says:

This is the ONLY sports site subscription I buy into and am glad to do it again this season. Bob doesn’t sugarcoat his comments on what he’s seeing in his coverage and that alone has gotten my attention and respect.

  • August 17, 2011  - SGL says:

    Hey Susie,

just stop coming here if you are taking Bob’s material and can’t bother to pay a mere $25 bucks. Give up 4 of your Starbucks. You can’t afford it, but you can afford to take his material and post it on your site, probably violating copyright laws.. seriously.

Bob, your stuff is great, always has been, always will be…Well worth the price.

  • August 18, 2011  - Tony Perkins says:

I have not read any comments before me so forgive me if I repeat a comment. I believe your site would have better success at $4.99 per month vs all up front.

  • August 19, 2011  - KC_Guy says:

Oner more in the box – I enjoy Bob’s stuff each and every day … and him being one of the few who respond to mailings and pick up suggestions for further articles it’s just worth those few bucks.
