Pre-Game From Arrowhead

From Arrowhead Stadium

11:43 a.m. CDT – Enjoy the game. We’ll have complete coverage this evening.

11:40 a.m. CDT – New role for rookie G Jon Asamoah, as he lines up as a fullback in the goal line package. Moves pretty well stepping into that role.

11:34 a.m. CDT – Brian Waters called the offensive and defensive lines together and was very animated in the message he was delivering. I’m sure it had something to do with controlling the line of scrimmage.

11:20 a.m. CDT - It looks like the extra captain for the Chiefs today is CB Brandon Flowers. He’s Todd Haley’s pick to join Cassel-Jones-Waters-Vrabel-Waters.

11:11 a.m. CDT – The officiating crew working the game is led by rookie referee Clete Blakeman. He has plenty of veteran help with guys like umpire Garth DeFelice and head linesman Tony Veteri.

11:07 a.m. CDT – Inactive status of S Reshard Langford will force some changes on special teams. He was part of all four of the major units (punt, punt return, kickoff, kick return), so someone will need to step up.

11:05 a.m. CDT – Ryan Succop was one of two from 49 yards to the west uprights. His miss was short and wide right. There is a bit of wind, but it’s died down considerably in the last 30 minutes.

10:58 a.m. CDT – GM Scott Pioli on the field with his daughter. Great picture, with big, bulky man in a dark suit holding hands with a little girl wearing red.

10:52 a.m. CDT – Grigs is in the house. Bill Grigsby and his wife Fran are on the field. Grigs is in a wheelchair. He’ll be honored in pre-game ceremonies.

10:50 a.m. CDT – The first of the Chiefs coaching connections with the 49ers is on the field, as Kurt Schottenheimer chats with Chiefs special teams coach Steve Hoffman at the 50-yard line.

10:45 a.m. CDT – Barry Richardson will get his third start at right tackle for Ryan O’Callaghan and Shaun Smith will step in for the second week in a row at left defensive end for Tyson  Jackson.

10:42 a.m. CDT – Inactives for the Chiefs are CB Jackie Bates, FB Mike Cox, S Reshard Langford, LB Charlie Anderson, LB Justin Cole, DE Alex Magee, OT Ryan O’Callaghan and DE Tyson Jackson.

10:40 a.m. CDT – Inactives for the 49ers are WR Ted Ginn, CB Tramaine Brock, CB William James, T Barry Sims, C Eric Heitmann, T Alex Boone, WR Jason Hill and inactive third QB Troy Smith.

10:30 a.m. CDT – Brodie Croyle doing some extra work with Jamaal Charles and Tim Castille taking pitches, handoffs and a few passes.

10:26 a.m. CDT – Matt Cassell is working on some bootleg throws, and that’s an early indication of what they may have planned for the San Francisco pass rush.

10:23 a.m. CDT – Early indictator of inactives are Mike Cox, Justin Cole and Jackie Bates getting a workout in early. They’ve been IA for the previous two games. Add Tyson Jackson and Ryan O’Callaghan and that’s five of the eight inactives for Todd Haley.

10:19 a.m. CDT – Maybe it’s a sign that there’s something in the game plan, but RB Jamaal Charles has joined the early throwing group.

10:12 a.m. CDT – Chiefs throwers and catchers are out for their normal pre-pre-game session. All the receivers and tight ends are participating as is OLB Mike Vrabel.

10:10 a.m. CDT – Welcome from Arrowhead where it’s a clool, blustery, very fall-like morning for the Chiefs and 49ers. Very overcast skies, some dark. There is a chance for rain.

I think Flowers deserves to be a captain. His play has been stellar.

Pretty sure the other captain is McGraw, not Waters twice lol

I’m hoping Flowers continue to be lights out. Hopefully Carr can start to get in the mix on the interceptions.
