Pre-Game – Chiefs vs. Ravens In Baltimore
From M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore,
Maryland
Storm clouds have followed the Chiefs from Kansas City to Maryland as they face the Ravens on Friday night under cloudy skies, the threat of thunderstorms and very humid temperatures.
(Baltimore honors the legendary Hall of Fame QB Johnny Unitas by naming the north side of M&T Bank stadium the Unitas Plaza, with a statue and banners.)
Much like the storm that drenched the Kansas City area late Thursday evening, Baltimore and environs saw the same type of storm and more is expected this evening. At 4:40 p.m. CDT it was 84 degrees.
There are 83 of 89 players dressed and going through warm ups for the Chiefs. Topping the list of missing is WR Jonathan Baldwin, who injured a wrist in a locker room altercation this week with teammate RB Thomas Jones. Also missing are OLB Erc Bakhtiari (head), C/G Darryl Harris (knee), OT Jared Gaither (knee), OT Ryan O’Callaghan (unknown) and NT Anthony Toribio.
Keep an eye on the No. 2 offensive line with three blockers out. In the warm-up period they lined up like this: LT David Mims, LG Butch Lewis, C Rodney Hudson, RG Bobby Greenwood and RT Chris Harr.
In the pre-pre-game segment former Ravens NT Kelly Gregg is holding a conversation with about a half-dozen members of the Ravens roster and front office. QB coach Jim Zorn, who held the same job last year in Baltimore, is also out early and talking with familiar faces from the organization.
Two former Chiefs draft choices are on the Ravens roster tonight – S Bernard Pollard and TE Kris Wilson. After two seasons with Houston, Pollard signed with the Ravens as a UFA. Right now he’s listed as the second-team strong safety behind starter Tom Zbikowski. Wilson has spent recent seasons in San Diego with the Chargers; he’s one of six TEs on the Baltimore roster right now.
From the Ravens perspective, they will be without two members of their starting offensive line tonight, as C Matt Birk and G Marshal Yanda sit this one out. Baltimore will also get a look at a couple of recent signees – RB Ricky Williams and WR Lee Evans. Williams comes from the Dolphins where he’s spent the last few seasons. Evans came over in a trade with the Bills.
Baltimore will be without LB Ray Lewis, who has been gone for two days handling a family medical emergency.

Game not over but noticed Mims did not look like chopped liver when he took over LT. Sure others noticed real effort by other also.
.
Seems odd to me that the Ravens put a a memorial to someone who obviously never played for them and had no connection to the team whatsoever.
Chiefs looked better tonight I thought. Passing game needs work but thats usually the case this time of year. It’s especially predictable considering the amount of work lost over the summer.

Rick: Unitas played for Baltimore when they were th Colts. Maybe you forgot that. He is a sports hero in Baltimore.
