Practice Report 11/25 Update

From the Truman Sports Complex

The Chiefs placed DB Maurice Leggett on the injured-reserve list on Wednesday, ending his 2009 season.

Leggett suffered a shoulder  injury on Sunday against the Steelers. It’s the second time his season has ended by being placed on the IR list with a shoulder problem. The same thing happened last year when he injured his shoulder on December 7 against Denver. He missed two games and was then placed on the IR list on December 26th.

Todd Haley said Leggett is headed for surgery. “It’s a pretty significant (injury),” said Haley. “We had moved him to safety and he was really excited about it and showing real promise. So this is a setback. He’s a great kid, with great enthusiasm and I think he’ll put everything into it to get back.”

No word yet on who will replace him on the 53-man active roster.

Despite chilly temperatures, a couple rain drops and a nice cold wind from the north, Haley had the Chiefs outside for practice again Wednesday morning.

Not taking part  in the team work was OLB Mike Vrabel. On Tuesday, Vrabel tested his injured left knee in the early going of practice, but on Wednesday he was back in the rehab area. The Chiefs listed him as limited.

Joining him there was RB Dantrell Savage, who also worked with the offense on Tuesday but was riding the stationary bike and walking laps on Wednesday. Savage is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Oakland that kept him out of last Sunday’s game. The Chiefs also listed  him as limited.

Also out of practice was LB Justin Rogers (thigh), who was listed as limited. Practicing was LB David Herron (knee), but he was listed as limited as well

RB Jamaal  Charles was named the AFC’s special teams  player of the week for his 97-yard  kickoff return for a touchdown against the Steelers.

I wonder if they will try to add Ricky Price from the practice squad. I think he has to clear waivers. They also may have another free agent they might want to pick-up.

My guess is that they will cut Justin Rogers, so they will have two spots to fill.

they will claim roth, dump richardson, promote williams, richardson to PS

  • November 25, 2009  - ThunderChief says:

Could happen on the Roth front, Ron. However, if Father-in-Law Parcells cuts a guy like Roth for supposedly dogging it by being a sick book writer, one has to wonder if Pioli will even sniff the guy?

didnt get a chance to, browns put in a claim on roth

Chiefs may want to look at RB. Smith is nicked and Savage is hirt. A body is needed.

  • November 25, 2009  - ED says:

Jarvis williams is still on the practice squad wonder if he’s ready to be brought up to the active roster. He’s another guy we drafted late in the draft. I wondered why we drafted another back when we had 4 already on the roster at that time Charles, LJ, Salvage, and Battle. But it could pay off if he gets called up.

how about…MIKE HART…the guy is a big back, can be a goal line guy…short yardage…

  • November 27, 2009  - Canadian Chief says:

Mike Hart isn’t that big a back – only 5′9″ and 206 pounds… he had a ton of carries and was productive at Michigan, but didn’t have the measurables most teams look for coming out of college.
