Practice Report/Update – 9/29

From the Truman Sports Complex

If you were hoping to see first-round draft choice WR Jonathan Baldwin on the field this Sunday against Minnesota then prepare for disappointment.

After appearing to take a step forward in his rehab of a broken right thumb on Wednesday, a day later Baldwin was back spending his practice time in the rehab area. In fact, almost immediately after the team finished its pre-practice stretching period, he went right to the stationary bikes and other apparatus used to keep the injured in shape.

There now appears to be no chance that Baldwin will be ready to see his first real NFL action. By missing the game against the Vikings, that will be seven games he’s lost due to the injury suffered on August 16 in a locker room incident with teammate Thomas Jones.

CB Brandon Flowers was working with the No. 1 secondary in Thursday’s practice, and he was moving around much better on that right ankle injury. Not so with SS Jon McGraw who still seemed to be restricted in his movements by a bruised shin just below his left knee. Donald Washington was working with the starters at strong safety.

Todd Haley had his team in shoulder pads working in sunny, but very windy conditions. Rookie DE Brandon Bair was back at practice after missing Wednesday’s session with an illness.

The team’s official injury/practice report from Thursday had only one change from Wednesday and that was Bair’s return to work. Flowers, McGraw and Baldwin were listed as limited participants.

The Vikings had four players listed as limited participants in Thursday practice: RB Adrian Peterson (calf), LB E.J. Henderson (knee), S Tyrell Johnson (hip), TE Jim Kleinsasser (elbow). Listed as full particpants were: CB Asher Allen (toe), CB Chris Cook (groin), DT Kevin Williams (foot), S Jamarca Sanford (thigh).

I think this game is going to be very interesting. Two impotent teams battling it out.
