One additional thing to mention was a comment made in a blog hosted by a certain fishwrap we know: “QB Matt Cassel. The new Chiefs quarterback is accurate…”

I’m not sure how many INT’s have been thrown over the past three weeks, but this word choice as penned by someone who didn’t have the initials “J.W.” seems very humorous under the circumstances. Are all our WR’s dropping all of these, or all of them running to the wrong places, or is Maurice Leggett now trying to compete for a WR position?

Maybe not. But, here’s what Thigpen had to say at the end of last week:

“Right now it’s not a competition,” Thigpen said. “We’re just trying to get better as a team and make the offense better.”

Thigpen also said he’s enjoying playing with Cassell, and has enjoyed getting to know him.

We won’t know for sure until training camp. Then the pads go on…the hitting starts…guys are fighting for starting positions…fighting for spots on the roster. Only then will we know who’s who and what’s what.

Practice is practice. Many times the focus is on the process and not the result. That comes later. Hardly a time to say anyone is a bust or a savior. Being in shape, on time, and knowing your playbook is what is required for training camp. Give me a report in August when discussing results.

We were just bustin’ Bob’s chops, as I said before. We all appreciate his work…or we wouldn’t be here.

My take is…the Defense is improved, and that’s part of it. The Offense is going to take more time to “gel”. OTA’s…7 on 7 drills…no pads, no hitting…still WAY too early to draw much of a conclusion, really. We’ll get a better idea of what we have in August.

Again I say, give the dude a break.
