NFL Says Chiefs Are Babies
We will provide you with more details in the next day or so, but every year the NFL releases roster information after the first week, detailing size of players (height and weight), where they went to college, age and experience.
Tonight, we look at age and experience, because that’s directly related to the 2008 Chiefs.
At the start of the season, the Chiefs were the youngest team in the league. They were tied with Green Bay at an average age of 25.57 years per player. They led the league with the fewest average years of experience at 3.45 seasons. And, they had 17 rookies or first-year players, easily the most in the league.
Here are the youngest teams in the league:

its amazing teams like Indy can essentially rebuild and still be so competitive. Green Bay had a very quick rebuild and a very short period of time in which they were not competitive.
Cinci, Miami, and the Jets have been “losers” for awhile.
I noticed that also findthedr, but also notice any correlation between KC and Indy? Maybe our coach has a coach…
Man, I wish we had Tony Dungy. He’s a hell of a coach.
In a year or two all of you NAY sayers will be praising Herm. for his plan of re-bith. When the “babies” become the dominators of TerrorHead Stadium once more.DOG
When Tony Dungy was pushed out of Tampa and took the Indy job Peyton and offense would not allow him to screw it up. He shaped their D to complement the offense.
As soon as Herm came to the chiefs he installed HERM BALL.
Herm is a hell of a coach too. A lot of people can’t or won’t see what he is doing. If Herm is allowed to stay in KC for a while, the Chiefs will end up like the Colts. You just have to have patience. Home grown teams almost always do better, with the exception of the Patriots. Brodie also isn’t a bad QB. He just needs to bulk up a little bit more. Brodie has already put on 10 lbs since last year, putting him around 218 lbs. If he can gain about 10 more pounds by the end of the season, along with the experience of this year, he will be a lot better next year. Again, Patience…
When you have Peyton Manning throwing to Marvin Harrison and the running backs they have had it’s easy to be good while rebuilding. But like the Chiefs under Dick Vermeil, it all starts with the offensive line play. And having Bob Sanders anchor your defense always helps. I think Tony Dungy is a good coach, but I remember when he took over the Colts, no one gave him a chance to win anything. Give it time, they are stating to look good.
So we are all going to be praising herm in a few years for his great job???
Many great players end their career early due to injury. Our current stars will be to old “in a few years”. Some draft picks are plainly no good, we know that cannot happen to the Chiefs. Sometimes other teams become “great” during the same period when your team peaks (all teams in the West have been to the Super Bowl while the Chiefs could not get to the playoffs).
I figure Clark Hunt and the Chiefs are trying to have the rebuild to be completed by the time the Stadium is remodeled. But average fan wants wins now and I can see if herm is a raving success, he could be greatly resented for all the losses.
chiefs will never be like the Colts.
Herm is a ‘run 1st coach.’ Bob Gretz even alluded to it in earlier articles such as stating in the game against the Patriots Herm would have probably preffered even more running plays. I think, at best, we can look forward to an offense similar to when Marty was coach.
Herm wants a dominant defense, and an offense that ‘doesnt turn the ball over’….which is an almost exact opposite to DV.
Wow! I cannot believe what I am reading! We tried that remember. We were ahead of the Colts with our offense slinging the ball everywhere. Has everybody forgot that playoff game against them when there wasn’t a single punt. How did that turn out for us? Not the way I would like. Herm is doing this the right way. And as far as everybody singing the Colt’s praises I don’t really agree with that either. If they wouldn’t have eeked that game out against San Diego they would still be the goat of the leage who always has massive potential but can’t win the BIG games. That’s ok though we arent winning so its the coaches head on the chopping block… Kinda like Coughlin the last couple years… Hmmm…
