NFL Almanac – June 29

Law & Disorder

Indianapolis – Early Saturday morning, Colts S Joe Lefeged was arrested in Washington D.C. on gun charges. Lefeged was in an auto that was pulled over after a traffic stop. When stopped the police found him with a pistol which was unregistered and ammunition. Lefeged also did not have a carry permit for the pistol. He’s played the last 2 seasons for the Colts, after coming out of Rutgers University.

New England – Odin Lloyd the 27-year old man that was murdered on June 17 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts was laid to rest on Saturday. He’s the man who has led to Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez being arrested on murder charges. The services were held at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood and the crowd of mourners was so large that some could not find room inside the church for the 2-hour service. Also, police investigators have impounded an SUV that was found in the garage of Hernandez’s uncle Andres Valderrama.

This whole story of Odin Lloyd is incredibly sad. If only these guys would learn from others mistakes buy they just don’t seem to. Just think for a moment in time about Hernandez. You have a 5 year contract and its worth 40 friggin million dollars. You have life by the balls so to speak. You completely flush the whole thing down the drain and your life with it. Was it worth it?????? Maybe I should become a life coach and knock some sense into these guys.

Changing my opinion. National media, what do they or I know yet, are saying he is/was a gang member. He had issues before and during college BUT because he can play the game, incidents were described as “misguided”, “youthful”, etc. He apparently is a gang members, including tats and felonies.

Just goes to show what we will accept in guys who can play sports at a high level. Crips or Bloods, if you can play the game, we will ignore everything else.

That said, maybe we all are wrong, he is just a kid with the wrong tats, who got mixed up in a rotten crowd…..or…..he is a two bit thug who have gotten away with crimes because he can catch and block.
