Thank goodness for DerekfromDC. I know we really need a K and TE and RB. We certainly did not need OL help, must set parameters, you know. We really complimented the Special Teams and they can score all the points in 09.

It's still too early to start worrying about the roster. We have stupid cap room, $30M+ depending upon rookie free agent signings and potential restructuring. There are always good players released by other teams who have cap trouble so you know Pioli isn't finished wheeling and dealing. All of the draft choices address a need to a greater or lesser degree. Pioli's history suggests that at least one of these picks is going to surprise everyone with their ability. It's time to sit back, enjoy the ride, start drinking your adult beverage of choice and continue ridiculing Faders' fans.

Kuharic had to go. Besides the questionable draft picks under Herm, that competant evaluators in Pili and Haley seems to be cutting weekly, he's the fool who traded the Saints whole draft PLUS, for Rickey Williams. Good riddance, but Pioli needed him during the transition period, as he needed the scouts and Cook, who he justifiably let go as soon as their usefullness expired. This is a business and we finally have people in place that will run it as such, not a County Club where a guy like Waters could just barge in and expect the plan to be laid out to him.

colby, just so. So we need to give the team time to sign some vet. That said, I believe they need to get a move on since they do not talk to we peons.

Oh also, why would you fire the guy that was primarily responsible for bringing in one of the best drafts for the Chiefs? Last year with Dorsey, Alberts, Flowers, Charles and Cottam? I think Pioli is stupid for firing such a talented scout...

Fact of the matter is, Pioli did reach for Tyson Jackson. I know he was the only "5 tech" d-end and I don't agree with the pick but he does fill a need, and if we run the 4-3 under(which is what the cards ran w/ Pendergast as DC) It'll be a pretty good defense(assuming Dorsey is used properly). But if we have Jackson occupying 2 blockers, along with Tank being a force in the middle, Dorsey will be used properly and get penetration, and DJ can come flank the edge. It won't be that bad...I hope anyways...

I still don't agree with most of his draft picks. We might win more than two games, but that's if and only if our meager depth at Linebacker holds up. He didn't draft any depth at that position and thats by far KC's weakest position!

Also offensively, Our right side is going to get caved in. Goff is an upgrade, but I definately thing we should've drafted a project guard to push and eventually replace him. We didn't draft a right tackle that will start. The Colin Brown guy is just like Barry Richardson, but Brown never played in a conventional offense he played in the spread at Mizzou. Another stupid pick.

I ddidn't think our Cornerback position was in dire need, our secondary is pretty solid from the looks of it. He'll push for playing time, but my question is if we are already solid at that position, yet have so many other holes to fill, why draft a corner?

We drafted a guy to play fullback too, that's another position I didn't quite agree with. Cox played really well last season. He was drafted to be a smashmouth blocker, but he also had a lot softer hands.

If we win 6 games Haley is probably the next Bill Belicheck, because our draft wasn't great(and I hope I eat my words) and our schedule is BRUTAL!

tm1946 says:
"Maybe coaching will make up the difference."

When Haley told Waters that he could go 2-14 with guys off the street, I interpreted that as a knock on Herm Edwards and his coaching staff, not as a knock on Waters or the players. Haley is definitely going to get to put his money where his mouth is in his first season. To be honest, if we 6-10 this season or better, then he's gotten off to a good start. I do believe that getting to six wins will be difficult unless they bring in a few more vets like the ones I mentioned above.

I figure the Pioli/Haley group may have fixed the QB situation and brought aboard some veterans to show the 08 players what needs to be done to compete for a full 16 game season. The draft seem directed at Def Line and doubt the others will be starters except on Special Teams (still seems odd how they approached it). Maybe coaching will make up the difference. We still need competitive players on Offense at many positions and I just do not see any available. We may not be superbowl bound but it looks like a lot of cap bucks are being kept in the Hunt's safe.

Colby-Also, Foote is only 28 and in the league for seven years. He could be more than just a one or two year LB, like Zack Thomas. We'll have to see if we make a move if he is released. I guess if we are really interested we could probably get him for a late round draft pick. We would only want to do this if a lot of teams are interestd and are afraid we could not sign him.

Niblick,

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Larry Foote. I think he'd be a great fit here and would really complete our LB corps. No, it wouldn't be an elite group, but I think elite would be expecting too much in just one offseason. To go along with that, I'd love to see Travis LaBoy and either Roscoe Parrish or Marty Booker added to the roster as well. I'd feel much more confident with our team heading into camp if they made those moves!

Plus, there's still some dead weight on this roster. They could make some room. Also, I wonder if some sort of trade could be made that would send LJ to the Jets for Thomas Jones? Two good RBs that could very well stay put, but might do better with a change of scenery. I can't help but think that Jones/Haley and Johnson/Ryan are a better combo than vice-versa.

I agree with Doug S......the Chiefs needed to be changed....a lot. When you have been in as big a drought as we have been....the more people you get rid of the more likely you will wipe out the loser mentality. Stop fretting and try not to lose any sleep over it. The Chiefs will be better and with-in 2 or 3 years you will not remember any of these guys.

Rufus? I don't enjoy his articles at all. I don't like his writing style....I find it uninteresting and wonder why he can't just say something plainly and stop trying to dress it up so much.

I suspect the main reason Kuharich wasn't allowed to go to Detriot in January is because the team was in the final stages of preparing for the draft. You don't turnover your coaching staff in August, you wait until the season is over. Same goes for the personel department. Their "season" ended this past weekend. While unfortunate that these people are now unemployed, it may be best for Pioli and the Chiefs to move on (of course, only time will tell). I doubt any of these men were suprised by their firings.

Scott-I guess I've missed all his articles. I would think the writers on KCChiefs.com are under Denny Thum, the President of the business side. I don't think this falls under Pioli. I just don't see him involved in this with the separation of the business and football side. Carl was over everything as President and GM.

Well, you guys want a winning team, don't you? We aren't going to get it by sticking with what we had. The entire franchise needs to be changed. If you don't like it, well- we could always invite Peterson and Edwards back.

I haven't seen any Rufuls Dawes articles on KCChiefs.com since Pioli arrived. i have only seen Bob's and Jonathan Rand's articles. Perhaps I have missed something Ruful wrote, but I don't think so. Also I saw where Larry Foote will soon be released by Pittsburg unless they find a trade partner soon. I think he could be possibly a good fit in our new 3-4 defense. Not a disaster like Kendrell Bell, who was brought here from a 3-4 and expected to play in a 4-3.

The Chiefs and the front office/owner are acting alot like a group of radio stations. That's no compliment, by the way.

Not normally the conspiracy theorist by any means, I'm getting the feel of a greater and hidden agenda behind these ramping up moves. There's an invisible hand in here moving the furniture about for some reason.

What that reason is??? That's the $64Million question.

An understandable & predictable move...with the entire scouting dept. The timing of all of this was driven by how late Pioli came on board, then the Cards making it to the Super Bowl. You couldn't dismantle & rebuild that dept. in that timeframe.

I almost forgot about Rufes Dawes! Great observation by findthedr. That was a pathetic reality for the Chiefs to have an anonymous writer on the official team website. Thank goodness we will hopefully not have to endure such cowardice in the future. If Pioli really wanted to score some points, he'd let everybody know who Rufes is.

Very unfortunate, I wish him the best, however we all know new regime means new people, especially with scouting and player personnel.

Im hoping "Chiefs sign Travis Leboy" is the next article.

I suppose that if you can trace you're football heritage back to Bill Belichick and Pioli, or Bill Parcells and Todd Haley. Then you're job is safe for now, otherwise you had better start doing up a new resume real quick like. It's too bad as I though Bill Kuharich was a real good evaluator of talent. If he is that good then he will get signed quickly by another team to handle their drafts. Change is good, but change for the sake of change is now always that good a thing!

Anyone tied to Herm/Peterson should be let go unless Pioli really feels they fit with his vision for the team. I'm sure many are great guys, but the fact is the old ways and perceptions cannot remain at Arrowhead or the losing will continue. I'm sure Jack Steadman was a great guy and that is why Hunt refused to fire him as GM for so many futile years. It doesn't make you good at your job.

Time to move on and stop bemoaning the loss of fiends, Bob.

Can anyone name any other professional sports team that employs a pseudonym writer to push propoganda?

Unless you are one of these people being fired or a member of their family....don't sweat it Chiefs fans. This is necessary to become something more than a cellar dweller or the eternal non-playoff team.

The fact is we haven't won a playoff game since the 1993 season. I'm sure some of these are good people and good coaches, but this purging is long overdue. I'm tired of being lumped together with Detroit and Cincinnati as the sorriest franchises in the NFL. Change is good!

Well so far he hasn't fired the guy that runs the scoreboard or the public address announcer.

Why the F wasn't Hunt at TG's press conference?
Oh! Right! I forgot it's soccer season, must have had pressing business with one of his two teams, or maybe he's busy buying a third.
