Monday Morning Cup o’Chiefs
 From River Falls, Wisconsin
The day has dawned bright and muggy here in the northwoods, where the threat of thunderstorms is in the forecast for later today. The Chiefs have two practices set for today, including one in the morning in full pads.
That figures to be an intense session because the head coach was not happy with his team yesterday. Herm Edwards wants a faster tempo from his players and he’s not getting it right now. The only thing the coach has vowed for himself this year is he’s going to stamp out stuff like this quickly. This should be a fun day!
Check out my piece on kcchiefs.com about Edwards and his coaching staff. It’s one of the smallest in the league. I’ll have more on that in the coming days.
 COUNTDOWN
It’s 10 days from the Chiefs pre-season opener against the Bears in Chicago. It’s 41 days to the regular season opener in Foxboro against the Patriots and it’s 48 days until the Chiefs return to Arrowhead Stadium for their regular season home opener against the Oakland Raiders.
It’s also six days from the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremonies in Canton, Ohio when Emmitt Thomas will officially be inducted.
For those that don’t know much about Emmitt, here’s a pretty good story from his hometown newspaper down in Texas.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
The Brett Favre saga continues to play out. Here’s another report from somebody who is plugged in with the former/current/retired Packers quarterback.
A quick look at the situation with the Rams in St. Louis and what the future holds for the team and city.
AROUND THE AFC WEST
- Apparently Al Davis is not very happy that former Raiders RB Lamont Jordan has signed with New England. Here’s a report on a Bay Area blog.
- In Denver they are waiting for the Commissioner’s hammer to fall on wayward WR Brandon Marshall.
- With the Chargers, L.T. is talking about wanting more than rushing titles, TV commercials and statistics. He wants the ring.

Thanks for all the updates Bob
I must say that I look forward to your takes/articles the most on the kcchiefs.com site and I am glad you started this page as well.

I can see the logic in Herm’s thinking regarding a small coaching staff, and the staff having a singular voice. This plays in the business world too, and is a challenge faced by many larger companies (and the one I work for). We’ll see if Herm can be a Jack Welch, or a Chuck Prince.
Bob–
Just added you to my favorites…..
Looking forward to your daily perspective on training camp.
