Late Afternoon Workout For Banks

From the Truman Sports Complex

Tuesday afternoon the Chiefs were scheduled to workout LB Brian Banks at their facility. Head coach Romeo Crennel confirmed that session after the team’s mini-camp practice.

Banks was in the building as the Chiefs were going through their practice, but he did not take part in that activity. He has previously worked out for the Seahawks and Chargers and is scheduled to fly Tuesday evening to Seattle to take part in the last two days of the Hawks mini-camp as a tryout player.

These opportunities are his first chance at the NFL since the young man from southern California who saw his 10-year old conviction on rape and kidnapping charges overturned when the victim recanted her testimony.

This story has bothered me since it broke. What a rptten thing to happen to a kid that was good in high school, had a chance, hell a very good chance, and had it stolen. If being lied about from a friend wasn’t bad enough, his I’m sure upto his armpits with public defender cases. The kid was black afterall. Put her in jail and disbarr the damn lawyer.

If Seattle dosen’t offer him a job, Clark should. There are some injustices that can’t be corrected but, unlike Syria and others, this one could be. I’m willing to bet that Banks would love to take out some frustation on the field and, if nothing else, would be hell on wheels on special teams.

I’d cheer. I’d be willing to pay more to Clark for parking at Arrowhead. Oooops, forgot, I’m going to have to do that anyway.

Clark, if Seattle doesn’t do it, you do the right thing. You don’t get that many chances to fix a life. Let alone fix a wrong.
