If You Were There, Tell Me Why!

If you were one of the folks who was at Arrowhead Stadium last night, who sat out the rain delay, who stayed until the second half, I want to hear from you.

The Chiefs announced paid attendance of 65,686, far below their official capacity for a sellout.  Still, the game was on local TV, so everybody could have stayed at home and watched on the telly.

If you went, if you got wet … OK, if you got drenched, if you hung in there through the evening, tell me why?  I’m serious about this.  I want to hear why, but I also want others to hear from the die-hard fans.  It’s a chance to express your passion.

If you were there, you are a die-hard fan. Tell me why.

    Bob…

Games like the one last night are the ones you hold on to and remember forever. I’ve always been a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and I always will. I would have sat through that 90 minute rain delay just to say “I was there.” I did it at a Kansas/Kansas State football game a few years ago.. it was cold, it was windy, and it was wet and I swear less than 100 people were in the stands to watch it, but I am proud to say I was there.

Now another reason… we all know how much parking and tickets are to a Chiefs game and most people are not going to simply throw that money away and leave without getting anything in return. Those who stayed were able to watch a decent football game, even if it was pre-season in the rain.

because this franchise is one of the greatest traditions in the midwest. I think of Chiefs football not as a sports club, but almost a way of life for those within driving distance of Arrowhead. Hell, it is even a place MU and KU fans can get together and agree on something.

And, lastly, nothing gives me goosebumps quite like ending the national anthem with “…and the hoooome.. of the.. CHIEFS.”

We may be in a rebuilding mode, but i sure hope all those fans continue to show up and continue Arrowhead Tradition. As the big screen in Arrowhead Stadium says, “Welcome To Arrowhead: The Loudest Stadium in the NFL.”
    GO CHIEFS

I enjoy getting a final look at who we may or may not keep. The Weather was just a minor issue, considering the process of going is so extensive that I figure if Im there, I might as well stay. As for staying home, I taped the game so that I can watch the tape and decide for myself who I think the 53 should be.

We stayed for the entire evening, not just because we have season tickets, not just because we drive almost 3 hours to goto each game and not because we were expecting to see the starters. We stayed because we are fans of the Kansas
City Chiefs. Yes we got wet, yes it was annoying to get home after 2:00 a.m. when I had to work at 6:00 this morning, but that’s what a true fan does. Last year we won 4 games, this year we might not win many more than that, but yet we’ll be cheering right along with the true Chiefs fans. Just because your team goes through a rough spot doesn’t mean you abandon them, not come to the game, not watch on TV and especially not boo them. They’re out there doing there best on every play and they deserve to have our support. “Fair-weather” fans aren’t need, we have plenty of die-hard fans to keep this organization going strong! We may not win the Super Bowl anytime soon, or even make the playoffs for a couple of years, but stick with them and you’ll appreciate it all that much more when it does happen!

365 days in a year. 10 home games a year. Do the math.
