Busy day at Arrowhead today. Savage and walden are cut, mcBride goes IR.
Roster moves
The Chiefs put defensive end Turk McBride on the injured reserve list, ending his season. They also released rookie running back Dantrell Savage but are hopeful of signing him to the practice squad. Also out is rookie linebacker Erik Walden, who played on mostly special teams.
Taking their places are running back Jackie Battle and two rookies, linebacker Curtis Gatewood and defensive end Andy Studebaker. Battle has been with the Chiefs on the practice squad. Gatewood was undrafted this year but has been on Washington’s practice squad. Studebaker was a sixth-round pick by Philadelphia and has been on the Eagles’ practice squad.
Curtis Gatewood
Position:
OLB

Ht., Wt.:

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter at defensive end who totaled 34/7/3.5 as a senior after 49 /8/7 the prior year.
POSITIVES: Undersized college defensive end that projects to outside linebacker at the next level. Quickly gets off the snap, moves well laterally and rarely off his feet. Can bend off the edge, shows speed in every direction and effectively pursues the action from the backside. Strong for his size, shows an array of moves working to get off blocks and plays with excellent pad level. Displays a good head for the ball.
NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks and handled point of attack. Disappointed scouts as a senior and did not improve his game.
ANALYSIS: Gatewood is an athletic prospect best making plays up the field. He is best suited as a rush linebacker who stands up over tackle in a 3-4 alignment.
PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round
Andy Studebaker
ndy Studebaker (OLB)
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 251
College: Wheaton
Conference: Illinois & Wisconsin
Hometown: Congerville, IL
High School: Eureka
Selected by: Philadelphia Eagles
Round: 6
Pick (Overall): 37 (203)
Pick Analysis: Studebaker is a hybrid linebacker/defensive end with decent size, though he is slender. He has speed and is very strong as well. He’s probably slated to be a special teamer at this point.

Overview
Studebaker is a small college sack-master who will move from defensive end to rush linebacker as an NFL rookie. Unfortunately, he suffered a sprained right foot halfway through his senior campaign. He still managed 6.5 tackles for loss and five sacks in only five contests. An Associated Press Little All-American as a junior, he made 55 stops including 24.5 for loss, 17.5 sacks and 19 hurries. That followed a first-team all-conference season as a sophomore with 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. The injury forced him to miss the Combine and all-star games, but teams know he has real potential.
