"Wow"

- yes, Rin's narrative wit doth shine & shimmer so magnificently this 1st day of July, year of our teams demise 2009...

"mr. tinny tin rin."

- dyslexia.com - or - stutterers.org

"You really have faith in your team."

- as much as Captain Smith did that other maiden voyage April 14, 1912...

"This is my last and first visit here and you will only be graced with one post from me"

- promises promises...

"which I am sure you will put down and make me look stupid but thats cool"

- no, Rin wouldn't do that; no need - you do it for me...

"you can not get under my skin with your hunt and peck typing."

- uh huh... that your 'first' & "˜last' ever visit & "˜first & last post' same is to Rin be proof of that; are you going to be playing here all week at the Comedy Club?

"I understand"

- good, we've consensus then...

"you may be"

- thank you, but Rin needs no permission to "˜Slap Chop' you...or is it b**** slap?

"just going by stats but if stats meant anything then"

- then they mean even less now - or more - depending of course; if you e'er return get back to Rin with your preference & then He'll dress you down accordingly...

"what happened to KC under dick with all those wonderful stats we had."

- dick...

"You might want to be more positive in life and you might feel better about yourself."

- EM Cioran > > Norman Vincent Peale

" I have faith in our team and its leaders."

- so you're the one...

"I live for today and tomorrow and not yesterday."

- if you hadn't lived yesterday at all this could be considered cutting in line on your part...

"yesterday has nothing to do with today or the future"

- "Progress is the injustice each generation commits with regard to its predecessors." - Cioran

"if the variables have changed which you will agree have."

- now you want to be Rin's Manager...

"If you have not found God then I will pray for you"

- Rin wasn't aware He was "˜lost'... or that god feller, either

"but that does not matter"

- then why bring it up?

"I will anyway for your sake weather you like it or not."

- then (conditions being dark tonight but not to worry as it will be light again by morning) I shall smite thee with further narrative invective well calculated to keep you in...SUSPENSE!

"I got a riddle for you since you think you are so smart."

- that "˜you' think Rin is "˜so smart' be evidentiary by your plea...

"And yes you will answer it today for tomorrow really never gets here does it!"

- well, if you're not certain...

"WHAT GOES AROUND THE WORLD BUT SITS IN A CORNER?"

- there are three men in a boat with four cigarettes but no matches...how did they manage to smoke? Answer that and you'll have answered the greater...

"If"

- there's no "if's, ands or buts" about it...'twill be the case...

"you truly get the answer on your own"

- always; Rin thought He needed help once, "but it was just my imagination, runnin' away with me...it was just my imagination, runnin' away with me..."

"and you"

- discovered I Rin was right again...

"dont be a chump"

- why, will you get jealous?

"and get help"

- got your cranium impacted again did you?

"or lookup"

- "˜Tommy Boy': "I can get a good look at a T-Bone by looking up a..."; Rin prefers local supermarkets howe'er.

"the answer then you"

- you're very pushy for a first timer- you must work on commission...

"should have no problem finding me to give me the correct answer."

- the only problem will be the extent your devotion to Rin; Bill Cosby as God, talking to Noah: "˜How long can you tread water?'

"You are the smartest right?"

- if you say so, who am I to disagree...

"GO KC and when they win more than one game and then it turns into a winning season which it will just remember this post because you will never get it out your head. That would make me the smartest!!! L O L. God Bless All Who READ THIS."

"why keep Krumrie?? I think it's pretty clear."

- Tim agreed before 'check' fell down and hit his head (which bounced several times apparently) and suffered a gran mal seizure, resulting that utter piffle about "any 22 players"...what self-serving nonsense, what an *** clown, a size 10 hat atop a #2 head.

It's easy to understand why a Terrell Owens among others had problems with a Haley and vice versa - two of a kind nee deux prima donnas, no waiting - a p***ing contest as it were - mine's bigger than yours, etc. etc.

Rin wonders as He wanders: was it that 'hot head' reputation his that made NFL teams stay away from 'check' in droves?

This guy is so believable that NO OTHER TEAM THE NFL believed in/hired him for Head Coach- except and until KC. Think this is just a matter of Rin giving 'check' yet another noogie? Think again.

Here's something from a national website: "If the Chiefs start the year 1-4, we'll be hearing about how Haley's on the hot seat. Just warning you now because it's coming."

Here's the rest of the story - http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/06/14/todd-haley-isnt-afraid-of-a-confrontation/

So how many 'more' football games are you gonna win with 53 than you could with any 22 'check'? C'mon, don't hold back...be bold and blustery - in our face - pretend you're talking to Terrell or Boldin- you know, be yourself!

He's been out there for the taking for several years now - but alas...no bites. Comes now KCs Chiefs to affirm the adage - "there's a sucker born every minute".

By the time the '09 season is fini, the Show Me State will answer the question 'how do we spell relief' with "exit Chiefs Head Coach stage left", or "put us out of our M-I-S-S-O-U-R-I"

Wow mr. tinny tin rin. You really have faith in your team. This is my last and first visit here and you will only be graced with one post from me, which I am sure you will put down and make me look stupid but thats cool you can not get under my skin with your hunt and peck typing. I understand you may be just going by stats but if stats meant anything then what happened to KC under dick with all those wonderful stats we had. You might want to be more positive in life and you might feel better about yourself. I have faith in our team and its leaders. I live for today and tomorrow and not yesterday. yesterday has nothing to do with today or the future if the variables have changed which you will agree have. If you have not found God then I will pray for you but that does not matter I will anyway for your sake weather you like it or not. I got a riddle for you since you think you are so smart. And yes you will answer it today for tomorrow really never gets here does it! WHAT GOES AROUND THE WORLD BUT SITS IN A CORNER? If you truly get the answer on your own and you dont be a chump and get help or lookup the answer then you should have no problem finding me to give me the correct answer. You are the smartest right? GO KC and when they win more than one game and then it turns into a winning season which it will just remember this post because you will never get it out your head. That would make me the smartest!!! L O L. God Bless All Who READ THIS.

Krumrie indeed was a Herm hire, and by all apparant evidence did a poor job. At the time of his hire however, he had a stellar reputation around the league, and was thought to be an excellent hire. I was especially excited by his hire, above all the other assistants Herm hired at the time. We know the disdain Haley rightfully has for Herm, by his any 22 guys off the street could win 2 games remark, to Cry Baby Waters, and his cutting of Will Franklin as Herm's poster boy. So why keep Krumrie?? I think it's pretty clear. Haley interviewed all Herm's coaches, and bought into the theory that Krumrie's hands were tied by Herm, as Gunther clearly and accurately stated his were. Krumrie probably told the truth about Herm in the interview, gave concrete examples of what he wanted to do differently, but wasn't allowed to. Haley is a very sharp guy, and he chose to ignore the 3 years under Herm, and give Krumrie the opportunity to prove his prior reputation was correct, and that the 3 disasterous years under an incompetant were the anomoly. Pioli, also an extremely sharp guy, and a proven defensive line expert, was willing to entrust his 2 highest draft choices for Krumrie to mold. Until proven otherwise, I'll trust their judgement on Krumrie, and give him the benefit of the doubt that Herm just didn't let him do his thing.

I agree with everyone on Krummie. He's the only holdover that didn't make sense. I guess in 2009 we'll find out whether it is him or Gunther that was holding him back from improving the defensive line.

By changing schemes, the Chiefs may be regressing on defense. Not because of what they want to do but because the current players do not fit into the Pioli/Haley defensive plans. That is to bad because there are some player who could contribute but Pioli/Haley "apparently" felt herm was a idiot and "his" players are no good. True or not, does not matter, they are dumping as many as possible.

"Let's not leave out..."

Your point - fairly stated.

We'll leave out your missing name, your flawed assertion concerning my identity (read my posts to Rin and re-evaluate that statement).

What is your "pro-Clancy" support? In what ways will he make this defense more successful than the d from last year? Where will his Chiefs D be more "at risk" of being worse? What's the overall assessment?

Are the personnel he's inheriting in KC greater or weaker than the ones he had in AZ? What will the effect be?

ILChiefs,

Response was substantive and thought out rather than full of hot air. It's nice when Chiefs fans use sound mind to outwit their opponents while their teams crush their opponents on the field. As I have enjoyed refuting Rin a time or two on here (as well as being crushed a few more times than that), I feel my chances against my acquaintances of the Donk/OAK/SD persuasion are much greater.

"...therefore cannot help the Chiefs is laughable..."

ILChiefsFan,
I guarantee you that sg and rin are one in the same! I have that on NO BS authority!

Now that I've tried for the last time to give some you a heads up on that....

Let's not leave out that it was the Cards Offense that gave up a 100 yard pick six.

That was squarely on Warner's shoulders, with an assist by every other guy that missed making a tackle on that play. Can't blame that on Haley or Pendergast.

I'm already regretting this comment, I feel like, although indirectly, that I am violating my own rule about responding to... well you get the picture.

SG,
First off, I apologize if I implied that YOU were trying to justify last season's regime; that was not my intent. I was using that non-specific "you" that some of us tend to throw around when talking hypothetically.

Incidentally, I think the Cards W-L record from last season is close to meaningless as a basis for predicting Pendergast's success with the Chiefs. I'm certainly not arguing that the Cards Super Bowl appearance proves Pendergast will be a good DC for the Chiefs. There are too many variables involved. On the other hand, the argument that he lost the Super Bowl and therefore cannot help the Chiefs is laughable.

In response to the (very reasonable doubts) you expressed about Pendergast I'd say that:
- Whisenhunt reportedly wanted to get rid of Pendergast before last season even started. Certainly not a reason to give Clancy a mulligan, but it does raise the question of whether the firing was entirely based on last season's performance.
- The Cards passing D certainly tanked on that final Super Bowl drive, but they also gave up fewer passing yards in the playoffs than the vaunted Steelers D, and out-intercepted the Steelers D in the playoffs 9-5 (based largely on the Delhomme meltdown, of course).

The Oakland Raiders of that 1967 to 1969 era were the best team in all of football ('best' meaning a series of games 'tween them and any other team in football being played, those Raiders would've likely won more than they would have lost.)

OAK beat the Chiefs twice in 1969 & in fact beat them 6 times in 7 games going into the AFL Title Game of '69 - too, the Chiefs wouldn't even have been there at all except for that 1 year 'fluke' playoff system.

KC won that last game - OAK lost it. Did OAK feel 'better' because they had a batter record in '69 than KC, or SD, or MIA, or DALL, or GB, or 'any' other team in pro football?

What do you think (rhetorical question.) It's no different for ARIZ and a KC compared circa 2008. Yeah baby, you tried.

The final arbiter - history/record books - shows OAK failed on their 'finals' as it were for that season as every the three referenced.

Or, if not OAK then it was the 1966-1971 DALL Cowboys according to some folks. They were by 1967 if not '66 even considered the 'better' team than the Packers. Yet they lost to GB 2 years in a row & then stumbled again in 1968, 1969 & '70 afore finally winning a Superbowl after the 1971 season. But they were sure the better team than those other 2-14 ones...huh.

Reminds one of today's tack of giving every child a prize in a competition so we don't injure their tender also ran/also tried sensitive feelings.
____________________________

This is no different than say the argument for one of my favorite Chiefs ever, WR Otis Taylor, being HOF worthy.

"Otis was just as good as any receiver who has ever played" or something along those lines... while that can be argued, it is worth diddly.

He'll never be considered as good as the others because the final arbiter is all that matters - his numbers like ARIZ/any team's 'L' in the end says he/it was not as good and not good enough - hence also rans/also played. Yeah but OT/team X was better than player Y/team Z. Wonderful, and of small solace. Nil.

ARIZ as KC 2008... also rans. PITT... winner. Losers are any/most every - winners number 1.

Also rans otherwise too, late starts, secrecy, the XYZ team way, blah blah blah.

Put another, the fact that 'every' NFL team that had coaching openings decided to make their hire before the last Superbowl concluded - preferring to not wait until aft for any leftovers, or also rans as they were. Except for one...ours.

Oww - that cuts, cuts to the quick. Here's one more Rin leaves you with for now -

Fingers wiggling from ears, tongue stuck out, lips flapping in the wind - "phblllllllllt!"

heh heh heh

"Oh, I know how the past few years have been. But, I still have to hope every year is THE year we'll kick some ass."

And bring that fire to the stadium/restaurant/friends' house even if/when they lose a few...we're going to need that enthusiasm when we have a record of say...3-6 after 9 games. If we get better W/L results, it will be in the 2nd half of the season.

ILCHIEFS:

"there's no difference between a team that won two games all season and a team that went to the Super Bowl?... I guess when you're advancing the position that there was nothing wrong with the regime that brought us the miserable 2008 Chiefs, you have to use every trick you can conjure."

Do I really? Ummmm...no...I guess there's the whole offensive side of the football debate...and there's the whole AZ defensive turnaround in the Playoffs...of course, during the regular season 2008, no doubt AZ won the division or looked like a Super Bowl contender based on its "D." That regular season production naturally we're going to give a mulligan to Clancy on right? And of course we're going to conclude that Coach Whiz and the guys at AZ relieved him of his employment with no justifiable reason prior to his employment with KC. Also, was it coaching...or personnel...that got AZ to that #19 in '08 Total D? And it doesn't bother anyone here that Clancy is secondary coach...and it was secondary that gave up a truckload of TD's last year and couldn't keep Santonio Holmes of all people from lighting them up in the Super Bowl...

Being balanced, it's fully legit to question Rin and say he's smoking drugs (hint-hint, we should) when he suggests that Herm and Co. did such a great job the past three years, and also fair to have enough intellectual honesty to admit our team's issues too.

Thanks Scott. I agree and am looking forward to the opening kick off. I believe that 8 to 10 is possible. Wasnt real exiceted about Herm from the get go. This new staff and some of the signing(s) gives it a different feel. As a Chiefs fan I'm following the off season with a greater interest than previous years. Your last sentence was well stated!!

Now, who lost each Superbowl referenced afore? The difference is not in the 2-14 or 9-7 or 17-0 marks any, etc. It is in the final score, only...the W - L like kissing your sister (and she's an ugly *****)

findthedr,

Great points about taking Herm out of the equation. Speaking of equations lets look at the common denominator...Gunther. As you stated he was in charge before Herm arrived and the defense sucked. Now that he no longer factors in perhaps our defense will stop under-performing? Then again Krumrie may be part of the problem. If so Haley seems to be the kind of guy to drop the axe when necessary.

Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm tired of speculating about the '09 Chiefs.

Bring on some FOOTBALL!!!!

diginjazz,

Oh, I know how the past few years have been. But, I still have to hope every year is THE year we'll kick some ass. Especially at THIS time of the year!

I'm on record for 10 wins this year...give or take a game. Optomistic? Yes, very. Do-able? Yes, it is. We have a tough schedule, for sure. But you know what...that's why they actually PLAY the games. Because you don't know who's going to win until the clock hits 00. But I'm certainly not going to put a tombstone on the season on the first of July, like some have.

Rin's back in the saddle again...He's back in the saddle ag- oh - and hello friends, Bullwinkle the Moose best friend Rin here!

"Do you really accept the position that, for all intents and purposes, there's no difference between a team that won two games all season and a team that went to the Super Bowl?"

- ok, everyone - quick and without looking it up: "who won Superbowl 12? Or 26? Or 31? Or..." well, you get the idea...that is 'how much' also rans - "any" - Superbowl or other - are remembered.

The 'only' reason one remembers them is because when you hear the name of the winner - say a GB in Superbowl 1, you know it was the Chiefs that lost, or Superbowl III Jets won - Colts lost, & Superbowl last February 2009 - PITT won, 'check' et al got 'mated' - against their will.

'2nd best' is as a Barry Bonds needing 837 extra at bats to finally even 'tie' a Babe Ruth at 714 home runs, a guy continuing to run past a finish line to a race that was already won years afore (by a Ruth this example.) Yeah baby, you tried...

That's how much 2nd best matters...and many more examples exist - all of them starting with "yeah but", "if only" and their three brothers "woulda, coulda & shoulda."

Also rans are not winners, putting lipstick on a pig does not morph bacon into NY Strip...

Scott,
Has been real rough the past few years. Not expecting greatness this season, but am hoping for more production. Guesss I got spoiled when I started following the Chiefs in the 90's. Just curious, whats your ( or anyone's) gut feeling on win total this year based on schedule?

Boy, you know? It must be a real MF'er trying to be a Chiefs fan while, at the same time, holding such a pessimistic vision of the team.

So really...why bother?

SG,
Do you really accept the position that, for all intents and purposes, there's no difference between a team that won two games all season and a team that went to the Super Bowl?

I can think of a few differences: one team gave themselves an opportunity to win a championship, the other gave themselves NO chance. One team won 3 win-or-go-home games (2 against teams that stomped the Chiefs), the other failed nearly every time they had an opportunity to put a game away. One team was notable for their successes, the other was notable for their failures.

Equating the last season's Chiefs with last season's Cards is sophistry trumping common sense; I guess when you're advancing the position that there was nothing wrong with the regime that brought us the miserable 2008 Chiefs, you have to use every trick you can conjure.

"Whether 2-14 or 9-7 - i.e., KC or ARZ - both were also rans in 2008"

Skipping about 4 paragraphs of bonus comments...that sentence quoted above...fairly accurate. Even more telling...will our pass defense be exposed due to more aggressiveness and/or will we still be struggling to stop the run? The need of the situation is that KC significantly improve defensively - as our point production likely will be level or decreased this season. It appears that not enough has been done personnel-wise to offset the loss from Gonzalez. That's what makes it hard to buy into projections for 2009 with more than 5-6 wins.

Nod toward 'The Prisoner' 1968 - "I am not a 'number' ('tis only one Rin - #1) I am a free man!"

Or, if you prefer your 'Beatles' warmed over like death, nod toward Chiefs season 2009- "I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together"

Paranoia, impersonation, innuendo, false bravado - Rin just loves watching all the 'little people' herein this blog infight! His football manna the only thing that matters or makes the daily takes others bearable...

SG...comes a cropper again.

You (in)variably don't read, comprehend or choose to ignore the evidence; Rin reiterates for 'your' benefit alone, appears -

Whether 2-14 or 9-7 - i.e., KC or ARZ - both were also rans in 2008 - nothing more, either of them. No cigars & no points too for placing or show.

"Yeah but, yeah but, yeah but" we 'got' there to the Superbowl...Rin's sincerest wishes that said keeps you and the others warm at night.

Unless you cling to post season dashed hopes as a man clinging to shipwreck imagines rescue ... and without question you do, you're drowning in a sea of your own making...non sequitur your stats any, as such...as 'search' and a Clancy 2008 - losers.

Keep tryin!

"3.5 sacks in 6 seasons..."

Sacks would be only part of the story for the d-line. How about Krumrie as a run-stopper coach?

How many think the real design of "Search/Check" was to get Pendergast and Gibbs only as position coaches with Crennel to run the show? We obviously see how well either one of them did as coordinators ("so-so") - but how good as position coaches?

Merwin,
I agree with you, I don't think Haley is the type of guy that would tolerate a lack of production, (from players or coaches) but, There has to be someone to fill the spot before you fire/cut or bench a guy.

I also agree that a move away from the "tampon two" can only make things better for the D as a whole. Any Defenses that leaves a 10-15 yard gap right in the middle of the field wide open, by design, imo SUCKS!

I don't think that was the real JNd. I see his post on other blogs sometimes, but not here for a long time.

"'straight talk', 2008 defensive 'style' rankings:"

Let's see...some more stats...hope you won't be "wiggin" that I gave the rest of the story to balance the presentation.

AZ 110.3 rushing yds. given up/game...KC 158.9 (AZ had 13 rushing TD's given up...KC had 25)

AZ 31 sacks...KC 10 sacks...

AZ ranked 19th in total defense...KC 31st...

It's possible our defense could become exposed in both phases of the game...or get better.

I dont think the excuse about the tampa 2 can be made about the dline. The dline is supposed to penetrate and have 1 gap responsibilities. It is supposed to be aggressive...which is the way Gunther has stated he likes to play.

Merwin,

IMO, Herm wanted to run the Tampa 2 (West version) here, but the other coaches (Krummrie and Gunther) either weren't capable or didn't believe in what Herm wanted to do.

That brings to mind all those impassioned speaches by Gunther on how nice it was to have a defensive minded coach (Herm) that "thought along the same mindset as he did" as compared to Vermeil. Makes you wonder if he really meant it or had an idea of how badly things were headed.

I don't think Todd will have a problem like that. I don't think Haley would hang on to a coach if he thought the guy wasn't or couldn't coach his players the way he wanted them coached. He's made that very clear to this point. In that aspect, I'd think if a position coach or coordinator isn't cutting it, he'd get the axe.
WORKS FOR ME!!!

P.S. Good to hear from you JohnNdallas. Don't be a stranger.

Hey, here's some more interesting stuff from Rin afore He returns later to continue his assau- er, analysis of the KC defensive coaches for 2009...

Defensive talk? And why not! More so, 'straight talk', 2008 defensive 'style' rankings:

Points allowed per game -

KC Herm 27.5 / ARIZ Clancy 26.6 - a difference of LESS than a point a game; no more W's to be found there.

*Penalty yards -

KC Herm 588 yds. / ARIZ Clancy 816 - ah hah! Yet one more chink in the armor 2009 crew.

*Fumbles caused -

KC Herm 30 / ARIZ Clancy 26 - oh dear, I sense a trend in play here...

Ints by -

KC Herm 13 / ARIZ Clancy 13 - yet one more indication another how much better the one was than the other - naught.

Conclusions:

This n' that, defense as pretense... a Superbowl loss be no better than every other NFL team that also ran '08 be it 2-14 or 9-7. No cigars either.

Whether a Tampa Bay Cover 2, Clancy's everything old be new again or 'check's an "any 22" will do, a matter of six of one half a dozen the other...
experience, talent, speed & yes - luck - is what will make the difference - 'ANY'.

"The Gleam" (Schottenheimer) was fond of saying stuff like "luck is the residue of design", and "preparation meets H", or something along those lines; Marty was 'successful' final analysis as will be 'check', Clancy & all the "any 22's" in the world thrown together...not very.

Father (of the I formation, stack defense a sort too), where for art thou? We need you- come back Hank (Shane) Stram, come back!

Even Herm Edwards would do better than these new flavors the moment 2009; even a Wiggin likely.

"In the last 7 years, the Chiefs have spent 4 of 7 First round picks on Defense, EVERY Second round pick on Defense, and 5 Third rounders on Defense."

that was BEFORE the 2009 draft where the chiefs first 3 picks went to defense!
(jackson, magee, washington, and vrable)

what has Krummie's slap-fighting and yelling got us other than a crappy defense?

JP/RedandGoldRice,

Krummrie has been with the chiefs for 5yrs, which is longer than Herm has. Take Herm out of the equation and you still have a crappy defense.

Same can be said about Gunther who was the D-coordinator under both Vermiel and Herm.

Krummrie's history as a line coach(credit Ucrawford):
Bengals "˜96-'02 Drafting History & Performance of Defensive Linemen

1996 DE Jevon Langford (4th round)...3.5 sacks in 6 seasons
1997 DE Reinard Wilson (1st round)...24 sacks in 6 seasons, best season 9 sacks (2001)
1997 DT Andre Purvis (5th round)...1 sack in 3 seasons
1997 DT William Carr (7th round)...no stats found
1998 DT Glen Steele (5th round)...3 sacks in 6 seasons
1999 DT Kelly Gregg (6th round)...dumped to practice squad in rookie year, signed by Eagles, 16.5 sacks in 8 seasons for Eagles and Ravens, never played for Bengals or Krumrie
2001 DE Justin Smith (1st round)...15 sacks in 2 years playing for Krumrie
2002 DE Joey Evans (7th round)...no stats found

So it appears that Krumrie turned out exactly one good defensive lineman during his time with the Bengals (Justin Smith) and never accomplished much else in seven years there.

Buffalo Bills 2003-2005

2003 DE Chris Kelsay (2nd round)...7 sacks in three seasons with Krumrie, 10 in three seasons without
2003 DT Lauvale Sape (6th round)...0 sacks and 7 tackles in 3 seasons with Krumrie
2004 DT Tim Anderson (3rd round)...1 sack, 42 tackles in 2 seasons with Krumrie

Pat Williams, by the way, had only 2.5 sacks in the 2 years he worked with Krumrie...his numbers were almost indistinguishable from the years before he worked with Krumrie. And he didn't make any Pro Bowls until he left Buffalo.

Kansas City Chiefs 2006-current

Tamba Hali, Tank Tyler, Turk McBride, Glenn Dorsey, Brian Johnston...how many of these guys looked anything like good starters in their time under Krumrie's tutelage? Hali comes closest and he's gone backwards every year he's played for Krumrie. Dorsey comes second closest and while he "led all rookie DTs in tackles", 46 tackles and 1 sack on a porous defensive line that's historically bad at pass defense is hardly anything to write home about. None of the others even looks like starting material at this point...at least not on an average defense.

Hey JP and RedandGoldRice, I was thinking along the same lines too, just seems to me we were not putting the players in a position to win. More to put them in a position to not lose, like playing the prevent defense at the end of a tie ball game (2008 Tampa game). I think the Tampa 2 defense worked so well for Tampa Bay, is because of the talent assembled there in Tampa, how could you lose? The problem with that scheme was every one has to be in the right place at the right time and trust each other to do what is right. Which didn't happen a lot last year!

Hey JohnNdallas, glad to hear from you again. sure has been awhile. I believe this years Chiefs team will surprise some teams. I think we have a more open style of coaching. There will be more coaching the players to the scheme that fits the players then fitting the players to a set scheme. This fall will tell for certain who on this site is right and who is wrong. Until then it's just pure speculation on the our part.

JP,
I was thinking the same thing. I can't say I was real excited to hear Krummrie was held over, but now that thats water under the bridge, I'm hoping Timmy can pull some unused magic out of his hat and motivate and develop some D linemen.

Just a thought on Krumrie??? This is a HUGE maybe. Perhaps it's as Gunther said...the scheme that Herm wanted to run just didn't work. MAYBE Kurmrie has the same complaint. I know it seems simple; just go get the QB. PERHAPS...Herm "handcuffed" the defensive coach's as much as people believed he did the offensive coach's? Anyone remember the Mike Solari Experiment? Have you ever seen an interview with Herm where he didn't mention his days in Tampa, or at least the Tampa 2 defense? He loves that defense almost as much as he loves Dungy. I can hear him now "back in Tampa with Lynch and those guys we had offenses scared he he he."

Again...just a thought.

tm1946,

That was a good read on Albert. Gotta like what he says, now lets hope he can put that new body to some good use, by devastating a few DE's and OLB's!

Today we shall talk about nee speak of the Chiefs musical chairs defense 2009, which will be led by crooner Teddy Pendergrass and- what's that?

He's not? He isn't?

Oh...Clancy, last name ending gast stead o grass. Something smells here- Rin thinks it is nee will be KC's D as in it looks to be a lovely kettle o fish nee real mess in '09 for the red & gold.

Why?

The D will be made up of mismatching parts, worn out springs, position switches, scheme revisions- though 'check's' "any 22" lunacy died on the vine if not e'er in memory this scribe or fandom same,
the gist be that once in full bloom and the bloom be off the rose, disappointment our appointment.

Undersized, undermanned, underfunded - and a new staff equals an 31st-32nd NFL ranking the reward for it all.
______________________

And now 'check' talk, with select translations courtesy Rin!

"Haley eats, sleeps and breathes football."

- but he tees it up, putters round, and ruminates not on the endzones but ra'her green, green grass the fairways of his mind...

"Sometimes we go out for a beer"

- because they don't deliver by appointment...

"I've got to shut him up because all he wants to do is talk football"

- thank you 'check'; whenever you want to learn anything about the game come to Rin.

"He lives and breathes football."

- ok, enough about Rin...let's move along.

"He comes over, and before you know it, he's talking about this or that"

- trying to find the raison any 22, appointments, how he learned to fidget in front of the camera -
right...'check'.

"and I'm like "˜Clancy let's talk about"

- golf, sand traps, scorecards: 0-16 in 2009...

"the weather"

- forecast: stromy in KC throughout the fall...

"let's shut it down"

- and get those resumes ours ready...

"for a few minutes."

- let's pretend we're still in ARIZ and didn't blow the Superbowl, you and I...

"Clancy is a highly intelligent guy that's all about football."

- and who will be 'singing' the blues afore the mid portion of the season arrives...

COMING UP: we shall look at the rest of 'check's staff, leaving no stones unturned and no one nee none of them unscathed in a football sense only, of course (Rin's grading scale 'not' being based on curves but ra'her throwing bombs.)

We have been hearing about Krumrie's fiery passion, and intense teaching regime for years....if he was a cat, he would closing in on his 7th, 8th, or even 9th lives....i cant believe Pioli hung onto him...how many draft picks have we made on the D-Line the last 6 years? ~ a dozen...How many are future cornerstones like they were supposed to be? ZERO...If Krumrie could actually coach, maybe we wouldnt be going through so many D-Lineman....its called coaching people! This guy better get fired after this season, and after we see more of our young defensive lineman underachieve....were not going to be a good defense as long as he is coaching our defensive line...

Good article in Star on Brandon Albert. He may be the "real" future for the Chiefs. Imagine going to Jackstack and everyone around you eating BBQ and he eats none, more will power than I could handle. I am now a big (literally) supporter of Albert. May be the only bright spot on offensive side in 09.

I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling about these guys when they were hired/retained, and, so far these blogs haven't changed that in the least bit.

Pendergast is about the only one that's half way intriguing imo, providing he doesn't try to change his scheme every week, as some have suggested he done in Az.

Krumrie! I have to believe he was retained because NO ONE else was available. There's a hell of a lot more to Coaching than screaming "YOU GOTTA GET RID OF THAT GUY" as we all have heard and seen that snippet of audio and video a million times. How about teaching them how to "get rid of that guy" using some technique?
If I remember correctly Krumrie played for Cincy, but does anyone remember were they running a 34 then?
