It was purely about dollars. I have no illusions about the new guy I brought in. He’s not as good a coach but if the fans want to believe he might be and the result is the turnstiles are purring, that’s what it’s all about.

Wins or losses are not as important as the bottom line. A good return on the investment is priority number one with me.

Herm was the best coach this franchise has had since Hank Stram was here, but I decided to go with pacifying the fans by helping empty their pockets.

By the time they realize this new guy is a joke I’ll be able to hire a real Head Coach and then we can look at returning this team to greatness it was headed for before Herm departed. I might even beg Herm to come back. If he’ll have me.

‘check’: Correct.

Reporter: And earlier in the game your offense gave 7 points to PITT, when instead you should have scored yourself, there upon the precipice the PITT goal line – isn’t that true ‘check’?

‘check’: Well…uh…yeah.

Reporter: And so now KC has hired you to do the same for them. Any reason you were hired in lieu of a coach who’d actually played the game either college or pro?

‘check’: Well I just- you mean football or golf?

Reporter: What do you think?

I like to read the articles…AND get into discussions on the comments section. There’s some good stuff here. Good fans…some differing opinions…and that’s what makes it cool. We all have some different ideas on things. But the common thread is that we’re all Chiefs fans…and we all want our team to do well. Well…at least MOST of us do.

I think pretty much all of the BS and bogus posts come from one person. And anyone with half a brain can figure out who that person is. Someone who has a personal beef with Bob…as a matter of fact, is what I think. And for whatever reason…jealousy, I’m guessing…comes here to try to F-up his site. That’s my little “conspiracy theory”. As for me personally, I don’t care if Haley has public speaking skills or not. I just want him to win games. Herm was great in front of the camera…although it was mostly making excuses. Didn’t count for too much, I’d say.

And as for JW Rin’s battlecry of “Any 22″? Unless he was a part of the conversation, which he wasn’t…nobody really knows if that’s what was even said. Only Haley and Waters know for sure. There’s two sides to every story…and I doubt if any of us will ever know exactly what all WAS said. It sure took Waters back to the “toddler” stage…whatever it was. For awhile, I kept thinking maybe he’d “man-up”. Now, I don’t even care. If he doesn’t want to get with the program…then send his crybaby ass on down the road.

I see Haley taking things back to “the basics”. You have to start there. We’ve got to work at being decent…before we can be good. And we have to be good…before we can be great. Bad news is…we have to do this on Offense, Defense, AND Special Teams. Good news is…I firmly believe that Pioli and Haley will get us there.

And yes, Gansz Was, Is, and always will be the best special teams coach ever.

Tony Horne’s return for 6 against the vikes in the playoffs in 1999 is proof enough.

What I’m getting from what Haley is saying is, we’re going to start with learning how to do things the right way, be solid if not spectacular in every phase of the game and build off of that. When they show that they can cover kick offs and punts, we’ll add more wrinkles into the game plan. When we can stop the run/ establish the run…. etc.

Boys, I’m stoked. IMO, we’ll have a competative team by mid season. God only knows who we’ll knab after all the teams cut back to 53.

Pioli/Haley will lead us back to the Super Bowl.

I don’t know if it’s Haley’s comments or Bob’s spin on Haley’s comments regarding our players that hint that he doesn’t appear “super-confident” with them. Does this approach prevent the big impact player from making his plays – such as Albert Lewis or others did? Am I (the coach) too afraid to let my players strike out that I don’t let them swing for the fences?

If I tell my starters and specialists to do that in coverage, does that do the same thing to my defensive players – when both teams tend toward playing off emotion and big plays?

Field position. Plain and simple. Stopping the return where Colquitt’s kick is fielded. We’ve been dismal at giving up good yardage on returns. Kickoffs, too. That has to stop if we’re going to win. You can’t let the opposing team start from their own 35 or 40 on every drive. You just can’t. And that’s been a huge problem for us the past few years.

That quote pretty much sums it up right there. And we saw how well that worked out. At least Herm “figured out the offense and defense”…right?

Does anyone have opinions on how this will translate to wins and losses? I wonder if his players might get coached away from opportunities to make plays. Also, does that have an impact on other areas of the team as far as player mindset such as defense?
