Gun Gone To Motown

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday morning that Gunther Cunningham has been hired as the team’s new defensive coordinator.

That makes three members of Herm Edwards 2008 Chiefs coaching staff who have left the team, even though they all had a year remaining on their contracts.

Special teams coach Mike Priefer took the same job in Denver, while secondary coach David Gibbs has the same job in Houston.

Gunther’s departure ends his second tenure with the team. He was originally hired by Marty Schottenheimer in 1995 as the team’s defensive line coach, but eventually stepped up to defensive coordinator when Dave Adolph left the team. Cunningham was named head coach to replace Schottenheimer in 1999 and then fired after the 2000 season.

He returned to Arrowhead in 2004, replacing Greg Robinson as defensive coordinator on Dick Vermeil’s staff. When Herm Edwards took over as head coach before the 2006 season, one of his first decisions was to retain Cunningham.

During those three seasons away from the Chiefs, Cunningham was the linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans where he worked closely on building the weekly defensive game plan with coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Now, Schwartz is the head coach of the Lions.

Well one thing is for certain, if Herm is retained, his coaching staff will be very different and it most likely won’t be people that he has chosen. At least I would hope not, nless they are going to give Herm an extension. UGGHH, gives me shivers.

I wonder if it’s a case of these guys thinking, or knowing (maybe), that they won’t have a job in KC soon?

Or if it’s a matter of these guys not wanting to work for Herm anymore?

I hope Gun thrives in Detroit. That way, maybe the Chiefs won’t feel the need to hire him back again somewhere down the road.

  • January 21, 2009  - Blenny90 says:

If they have a year remaining on their contract — accept a job with another team, then the Chiefs are not responsible for their salary next year.

I wonder if they are trying to force Herm out and get out from under his $2 mil?

Goodbye & Good Luck Gun, I think you will need it.

Blenny90, herm has $4 million coming, by all reports I’ve heard.

i am excited by gun getting the job in detroit…
i am also a lions fan so he should be able to hel there.

really glad he is gone from here though… so we didnt’ have to fire em!

  • January 21, 2009  - tm1946 says:

Now herm can install his Tampa 2 with a coach who knows how to operate it.

Just kidding, Tampa 2 is dead. If herm has to live or die in KC with it, then start the funeral durge.

Hope Gunther is successful, Detroit needs some success. It is tiring to see the same teams getting to the playoff year after year. Look at us.

Well…it wouldn’t be so tiring if we WERE one of those teams.

And maybe we will be someday.

Just a lame try at humor, sorry. With Pioli, we haters are searching for anything. Even hermites like rin left town.

If I were a gambling man, I bet Gun lands on his feet.

I’d also bet Schwartz and Lions GM,keep Gun on a pretty short leash, when it comes to personnel decisions. That’s IF Gun had as much sway on FA acquisitions as some have reported.

  • January 21, 2009  - Blenny90 says:

$4mil to Herm — wouldn’t you like to be the new employee that saves your company $4mil?

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

    YES I WOULD!!!!
But herm isn’t that dumb. Or is he?

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

I hope Gun does well with Detroit but man that is one black hole I wouldn’t want to jump in.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

The only way Herm doesn’t get that 4 mil is if he before getting fired gets another coaching position which he won’t do. He will be the KC HC unless Pioli fires him.

  • January 21, 2009  - Alex K says:

Well, there is no way Herm can stay unless he gets an extension, no GREAT staff wants to come in for one season, its time to cut Herm loose, sorry, its not after the super bowl, then he should be cut loose, Hire Haley and Grimm.

  • January 21, 2009  - Carlm says:

some of you are missing it everyone that has left was on the defensive side not one single offensive coach has left. Hopefully we are in for a defensive coordinator that isnt an ancient old fool who will know how to use the players he has.

  • January 21, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

exactly carlm, the chiefs are retooling the assistant coaches on the defensive side of the ball for Herm this year, about time…

I dont think he is going anywhere this year. He would have already been let loose if he was going to be, there is no point in keeping him around to wait for other superbowl coaches to finish their season, they would let it be known to him that he was being fired.

It would be an unrespectable move by the chiefs to hold on to a coach that they know they are going to fire, to the point that all of the other coaching positions in the NFL are filled so he can’t get a job… I dont see it happening…

  • January 21, 2009  - tm1946 says:

Hate to agree but if the chiefs were not going to keep herm then he should have gotten a chance to move on. All that said, letting Gailey move would leave the chiefs with no qualified assist.s and known ones gone (Al Saunders to Oakland). Keeping herm is a problem and not keeping is a different problem.

  • January 21, 2009  - Josh says:

My thoughts exactly arrowhead, and why would you be waiting for a coordinator to finish out the season to hire when you haven’t even been able to interview him. That is kinda putting all your eggs in a basket isn’t it?

    JB

  • January 21, 2009  - jorge says:

That’s funny. I don’t know who would hire Herm right now, respectable or not, the Chiefs aren’t holding him from getting a new job. Well…maybe the raiders, no, maybe some position in Tampa???

Look, anyone wants to hire Herm, please take him. But the Chiefs are going to keep him, work on the defense, and let go of him next year. By then Pioli will know exactly where the team stands, plus, there will be more coaching options in 2010.

Holding Herm from getting hired…heh heh duh duh

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

Maybe Jr. Hunt and Pioli feel it’s “unrespectable”
to pay herm 4 million bucks for nothing, so they are holding off on an announcement, while they evaluate the team, Someone has to be there to tell him what the players responsibility is on that play.

I’m guessing too, but it doesn’t make sense to retain herm, imo.

  • January 21, 2009  - RedandGoldRice says:

On the other hand, if the Chiefs are going to keep Herm, why haven’t they announced it yet? And if they’re going to keep him, why isn’t he out at Mobile watching the Senior bowl? Lets get it going guys!!

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

If I were in Clark’s shoes, wouldn’t worry to much about herm getting a job, poor bastard’s only gonna make $4,000,000.
I doubt that there are any teams holding there water for herm. Clarks smart enough to know he in all likely hood is going to have to pay herm, so might as well get something for it.

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

What Defensive Coordinator or assistant is going to come to the Chiefs if they think the HC will be let go after next season?

You’d have to be pretty desperate for a job, unless you’ve got some kind of guarantee that you’ll stay on in your position (unlikely) or that you’ll get a chance to take Herm’s place.

  • January 21, 2009  - Scott says:

    Exactly.

I think he’ll be gone by the end of the week.

    I’m HOPING, anyway.

    Me too, Scott!! ME TOO!!

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

IL, Think you nailed it. That has to be being considered.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

Well I’ll chime in on the guessing game. Defensive and special teams coaching gone. Herm with one year on the contract. Could be going after a DC, AsstHC or Special Teams coach that could potentially get the HC next year if or when Herm is let go. I think they should also get a new QB coach and OL coach. Which could play into the Clancy Pendergast(DC) or Russ Grimm(AsstHC – OLCoach).

  • January 21, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

well if they fire him they still have to pay him 4million for nothing… I dont think he is going anywhere this year. I know things that I have read said that Pioli has respect for Herm, apparently belichick had respect for what Herm is trying to do this season and Hunt likes/respects Herm… From that I gather that maybe Peterson wasn’t helping Herm as much as he could have with new assistants and not letting Herm blow the team apart earlier, even though it would have been hard to see Trent and the boys go earlier then they did… But watching in 2006 and then 2007 you could see the aging on the team… It had to happen…

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

Actually, I don’t believe the idea of bringing in an “heir apparent” for Herm (even though I suggested it) will really fly; I’m becoming convinced that Herm will not be staying on.

  • January 21, 2009  - Carlm says:

Hmm so an out of work coach wont take what is offered especially in this economy. Interesting not well thought out. I don’t like doing the what if thing but here are a couple. If they were going to let herm go he would already be gone. I get the feeling that Pioli is not a vindictive kind of person. If they are going to get a new head coach why not move Herm to the Defensive coordinator? I don’t really see that happening. I do think the Gunther being gone will give Pioli the oppurtunity to bring a DC in that will go to the 3-4. Me personally I like a 5-2 with defensive ends being hybrids. Hard to run on a defense that way. Passing downs though would require the corners to be more aggressive and have to do man to man coverage for the whole game. Sorry got sidetracked. Pioli isn’t a fool and he sees what was started last year. I think he will keep Herm for his last year, which won’t hurt my feelings any. I think he deserves it. He will no longer be saddled with Carl Peterson or Gunther Cunningham. Then if he falls flat everyone can call for his head. As far as assistants, I think they have already looked at it and probably already have them lined up. Again the impression Pioli has given me is that he is no ones fool.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

Well time will tell guys. I do like the fact that Pioli and Hunt are remaining tight lipped through the whole process and just going through the evaluation and will make a decision when done and not until it is the right one.

so they are holding off on an announcement, while they evaluate the team, Someone has to be there to tell him what the players responsibility is on that play.

Who is they?, and tell WHO what the players responsibility was on a particular play. Pioli and Clark are not coaches, JACKASS!

arrowhead1978 you will have to forgive cowboy for making fun of your misspelling, he is full of himself and can’t help it.

So far Pioli has lived up to his reputation to keep things quite and keep everyone guessing. The pundits should be loving it, it gives them plenty to ass u me.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

Carlm liked your last although 5-2 I’m not real fond of it not too bad for College but not in the pro’s.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

herm may be back, but I’d be stunned if he is “the man” (head coach).

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    Whoa there, TR&G!

I agree completely with what JohnNdallas said. Pioli is responsible for evaluating the performance if the Chiefs players and needs the assistance of the coaching staff to do this. What’s hard to understand about that?

  • January 21, 2009  - Josh says:

True red and gold, first lets try to keep it friendly and John was saying that during the press conference Pioli needed a coach there to let him know what the players responsibilities were on plays he is evaluating. He needs the coach there to let him know what play was ran and if the players were actually executing the plays properly, following assignments, in the right place, etc. etc. And again we don’t need to name call its kind of childish.

    JB

  • January 21, 2009  - Carlm says:

Chris, sorry Lol-I love that defense. When I played that was it. I have done some coaching and that is what I used. Problem with it though is you have to have really good defensive ends, linebackers and corners. When it is high school players it works pretty good because other coaches aren’t expecting that much aggressive play from them. The two defensive ends are responsible for the qb and the running backs. The two linebackers are free floaters if its a run they go to the ball and if its pass they pick up the crossing routes. It is definitely harder to play in the Pro’s I guess.

  • January 21, 2009  - Josh says:

typo “during the press conference Pioli STATED HE needed a coach…”

    JB

  • January 21, 2009  - RedandGoldRice says:

I don’t think the Chiefs are even close to having the personell to run a 3-4. 1) We don’t have the LBers to run it, 2) we don’t have the DE’s for the 4-3 let alone a 3-4, and 3) what a waste of Dorsey if we went to the 3-4.

Personally, I’d rather stay with the 4-3, but get away from all the zone crap and get back to some aggressive, smash mouth, REAL D. When you watch the last 2 weeks of the playoffs and the teams that can get that constant pressure, it sure does make you wish for the good ole days back when we had DT and Neil Smith wreaking havoc.

  • January 21, 2009  - True Red & Gold says:

Does anyone know how old Gun really is? He looks old. I personally am not a fan of Gun’s coaching style. I do think Herm even toned him down a little.

But Schwartz has worked with him before and likes something about him. There are other options that he could have gone with and his job is dependent of him hiring good coaches to help make him look like a genius

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    Carlm,

If your “Hmm so an out of work coach wont take what is offered especially in this economy. Interesting not well thought out” comment was directed at me, please notice I said that a coach would have to be desperate to take the job under these circumstances.

My guess is that “desperate” is not one of trhe attributes the Chiefs will be looking for in their coaching hires.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

LMAO, “they” would be Pioli, (and clark) as pioli let it be well known clark would be involved in every decision, DUMBASS!

Don’t get you tampon cross ways, I wasn’t making fun of anyone’s spelling, I liked the way he used the word so I quoted it.
Just dbl up on yer midol, the cramps will pass soon.

  • January 21, 2009  - RedandGoldRice says:

Easy now fellas! It’s all good here! We all want a winner, and thats the main point here.

At least we’re not the Lions….yet.

    John, UR crazy!

  • January 21, 2009  - Carlm says:

That is true Il but there are a lot of coaches out there and a lot of them will jump to a team if the money is right. I see no reason to get desperate. There are college coaches and ex-NFL coaches that are just waiting for that call. What I have seen is a lot of the flavor of the month coaches being hired right now. If I had the oppurtunity to be hired by an NFL team even if it was for a year. I would jump just so I could show my potential in that one year so I could be hired with the same team or a different one next year.

  • January 21, 2009  - True Red & Gold says:

You guys don’t really think that they are going over every play and discussing each player’s assignments for each of those plays. Pioli would have to work 20 hr days for a month to do that.

That is not exactly how a GM goes about evaluating players.

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    TR&G,
Nobody said anything about “going over every play”. You seriously don’t think GM’s watch game film to evaluate players? I’ve heard several GM’s talk about doing it.

Also, if I was in Pioli’s position I’d consider going over game film a good way to evaluate the coaches, as well.

They show key situations, or key plays, the one that worked and those that didn’t.

Lord,God how do mistakes like him happen?

No problem I enjoy Rin’s post also we’ll just have to try and keep his witty comments going.

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    Carlm,

The person you describe would have to be either:
    a) Unemployed but worthy of consideration for an NFL DC position
    or
    b) Current employed (presumably not as an NFL DC), but worthy of consideration and willing to leave their current position to try to demonstrate, in one season, their value as a DC by coaching a defense that ranked in the bottom 5 in the NFL this past season in every meaningful statistical category.

That’s a hard man to find!

  • January 21, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    Chris_Texas,

I especially enjoyed it when Rin tried to justify his support for racial discrimination by arguing that, after all, there’s nothing wrong with choosing which M&M you want to eat based on color!

Yeah, I sure miss that guy’s wit.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

ILChiefsFan good point and it would be someone with something to prove or wanted to add to the resume. We’ve been looking at the NFL does anyone have any College coaches that come to mind and please keep Stoops, Brown, Carrol and those type that aren’t going anywhere out of it.

  • January 21, 2009  - Carlm says:

Some what true Il, but there are those willing to do that. Like I say, the NFL is the biggest stage for a football coach and the challenge of turning around the worst defense in the NFL in a year would be one of the greatest accomplishments in a coaches stocking. Who wouldnt want to hire you after that. But there are also ex-head coaches and assistants still out there. I don’t see where it would be a hard man to find. Plus, there are still two teams with coaches in the superbowl that wont be available until after February 2nd. I would much prefer assistants that went to the SB than those that didn’t. I’m sure Mr. Pioli has thought of this and has a plan. I think any good coach would just want to showcase his talent even if it is for one year. I know I would.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

I gotta say, the property value on this blog has gone up imo, we lost a burnout who’s stuck in the sixties,(if only temporarily)but have been rejoined by a guy who adds common sense to the post.

Now if w could get Tim-in-KC to post again we’d have a wide range of sensible opinions.

  • January 21, 2009  - Chris_Texas says:

IL yes the M&M reference was classic. Carlm like what your saying kinda goes with my Clancy Pendergast theory I keep putting out there. Also Rivera from the Chargers would be good. Not sure I would want Dick Lebeau unless he just wanted to stick around for DC with no HC desire’s.

JOsh please no more Cowher garbage. Thank goodness finally Gunther’s gone. Whether Herm will be back or not doesn’t matter with Gun gone the defense is sure to see alot of improvement now that the last piece of Peterson stink is no longer around.

One day at work, one Bob article on Gunther and about 80 comments later, I can finally weigh in here! I love the commenters on this site. Bob’s frequent and quality daily postings are just the beginning of the fun. A lot of you guys make this site more fun to peruse and the differences in opinion and generally healthy debates are always entertaining.

Chris_Texas and TR&G. It would be nice if you guys didn’t totally debase yourselves by serving as Rin Tin Tin fanboys. While I generally don’t agree with you guys as far as Herm goes, I’ve seen you both post intelligent things before regardless of my personal opinion of your opinion. It just makes you both look bad to idealize a guy whose main purpose of coming here is to irritate, insult, and annoy. (Not to mention plagiarizing the heck out of a few Chiefs encyclopedias and old programs) But perhaps you two don’t mind serving as his “Robin”.

A lot of continued debating and prognosticating about what Herm’s fate will be. Bottom line, if he was going to be our coach for the 2009 season, he’d be at the Senior Bowl. He’s going to be fired guys, we just don’t know WHEN.

  • January 21, 2009  - ED says:

Carlm you also make a great point no one is paying attention too. All our defensive and special team coaches are leaving. what a coincidence because those were the things we as fans complained about every week. Sound like to me that Herm maybe staying and we’re going to try to get a new defensive coord. and special teams coach. Until Gailey accepts a job somewhere else i’m going to have to believe Herm will be brought back next year.

  • January 21, 2009  - RedandGoldRice says:

    Ed,
We have 1 more piece of Peterson stink left circling the bowl as a floaty. I was sure by this time of day we’d be reading of his dismisal, but no joy yet.

  • January 21, 2009  - Uncuffed says:

Pioli’s just waiting to interview the guy he has his eyes on (Haley?). If he’d decided to keep Herm, we’d already know it. He’s only keeping Herm around in case he can’t get who he wants and has to wait another year to find the right guy.

  • January 21, 2009  - RedandGoldRice says:

Lets hope you’re right Uncuffed, and he DOES get his guy.

I am not to sure why any of us, or Clark would worry about firing Herm and not getting anything for our 4mil$$. He was paid that and gave us nothing in 2008 so what is the differance?I am glad I have never played poker with Clark or MR. P cause you would have no idea what kinda hand they are holding. None of us will know anything until they announce their choice. I have my wish list and it is short. Either and old dinasour (sp) like me or some new kid. Yep that pretty much narrows it down. Many names have been thrown out there and sometimes that is what we buy is a name. I hope Mr. P is worth the $$$. He doesn’t have to be a good player or coach just make good decisions.(sp) I am sure he will choose wisely we will all get excited and have great expectations. The new coaches need to be great motivators, they need to convince the players they are tougher than……..STEEL 16 weeks with a Marine Corps Drill Instructor and they will be motivated. The players are all wanting to do their best they followed the call given them. And lucky for us most of those play callers are now gone. I do not “post” very often and last week I suggested that Tony88 is our cornerstone. Someone said that he is not, I would then ask who has been more reliable? Who is the cornerstone? What do we build the TEAM on? We dump all with more than 7 yrs. exp. except #88 and we draft our ass off again, and we motivate and we kick some ass. We need a coach to make a TEAM. We need a coach to make a machine. We need a coach who make a unit that is respectedand….. maybe even feared. And we do this with the OC from Arizona, he worked for the BIG Kahuna I mean TUNA in Dal.(3yrs.) Anyone could be better than Herm. Hey where is Rin ten ten?? Are ya there???
    Signing off now Devildog76

  • January 21, 2009  - ED says:

Both of you are wrong. First of all Pioli wouldn’t be holding up Herm’s career that would be very disrespectful and Pioli doesn’t seem like that type of guy.

As for RedandGoldRice I don’t consider Herm one of Peterson’s boys because it was Herm that went against the grain with Peterson on where to go with this franchise. So thank Herm for us even having Pioli. Why you say JUst check out this link it’ll explain everything I’ve been saying: http://kan.scout.com/2/830968.html

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

I’m nervous about Haley, but could he be worse than herm?

colby, have you been watching any of the Senior Bowl practice coverage? If so any one jump out at you?

  • January 21, 2009  - tm1946 says:

All good points but at some time any team must have asst. coaches to move forward, right? That is why I suspect herm is gone. Losing three coaches and not replacing any yet is telling, of what I am not sure.

If herm is to be here in 09, I have a hard time believing Pioli is going to leave herm to hang without any new assistants.

  • January 21, 2009  - Uncuffed says:

That’s hilarious, “Herm not a Peterson guy”!!! Not only was their friendship the only reason Herm got the job with no competition, but it’s also why we gave up a 4th round pick for someone no other team wanted for a head coach. Not a Peterson guy.

Herm brought us Pioli! Even more hilarious. I heard herm invented the internet, too.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

Damn Marine! Makes me wanna give a big OL’ OOOORAHHH!

E-7, mos, Oh three twenty one.

  • January 21, 2009  - B in SC says:

I just can’t believe Herm is being retained. A statement would have been made already. Assistants are leaving (Gailey interiewing at TB), and the coaches were supposedly told they had the “option” of going to the senior bowl. Doesn’t sound like they are sticking around. Add the fact that they are not apparently looking for new assistants yet and the picture looks pretty clear. They are waiting for the new coach to be hired so he can fill his own staff.

Herm isn’t being disrespected. He is under contract and will get paid his $4M for next year. Please disrespect ME like that. He wasn’t going to get another gig this year anyway.

Pioli is at the senior bowl and lets not forget that he and his staff in NE have been scouting players all year. That work is already done.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

Well said B, It doesn’t make any sense! Unless the Chiefs are going to create a spot for him, short term. herm obviously would like a shot at being a GM, maybe they make him some kind of personnel consultant or who knows ????
But I don’t see him as head coach next season.

  • January 21, 2009  - B in SC says:

I really don’t think he wants to be a GM John. He likes to coach. He should be a position coach somewhere to work one-on-one with players. He is good at that.

  • January 21, 2009  - B in SC says:

P.S. Without sailors John, Marines wouldn’t get anywhere…

I do have a son who went to the dark side though. On his way to Afganistan now. At least it is still the department of the Navy.

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

    LMAO,B!

Your Son’s a good man. God Watch over them all.

Yeah, The Few, The Proud, The Marines need dependable transportation, and those Navy Boys do a hell of a job taxiing Marines. ;) Being in a MEU-(SOC) (that’s what they called em in my day, I think they have dropped the SOC designation.) I can attest to the Navy’s hospitality. LOL

  • January 21, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

DON Checks always cashed just fine LOL

  • January 21, 2009  - colby says:

Well JohnNdallas, I’ve been watching sporadically so far but that will change as my work load is looking to slow down a bit for the rest of the week after a VERY busy Mon-Wed! So far, two Trojans that I’m getting more interested in are DE Kyle Moore and LB Brian Cushing. Cushing is a first rounder more than likely but Moore could be a steal somewhere in the 4th-5th round range. Speaking of DEs, I really am starting to like Will Davis of Illinois. I keep hearing about how many pass rush moves he has but I need to research that more on my own before I’m convinced. Still, it’s good to hear about defensive lineman who know how to use their hands already.

Finally, one of my favorite players in the draft this year who is not disappointing me in Mobile is Cal center Alex Mack. If for some insane reason is there when the Chiefs pick comes up in round 2 they need to jump all over him. He’ll be a starter in this league for ten years.

  • January 21, 2009  - Mark says:

Good for Gun coming clean about the D he was forced to run under Herm, that he didn’t believe in.

  • January 21, 2009  - Devildog1976 says:

Thank you JohnNdallas and a great big OOOORAHHH! to you too!! E5 3rd marine air wing AH1-T cobra (6076) helicopter mech HMA 169 Camp Pen. CA.. 1976-1982. You now know why I will never say anything negative about the Chiefs…….. Same team colors as our Corps. And to B in SC you are right we rely on the navy for transport, LPH-10 1978, LHA -11 1979. The Corps is a department of the Navy….. the MEN’S department. God bless America! Oh yea…. and the Chiefs too!!!
    Semper Fi JohnNdallas!

  • January 21, 2009  - Devildog1976 says:

    Colby…JohnNdallas,
What about Clay Mathews Jr. of USC? He is some sort of a BEAST isn’t he? I think he is really versitile. Y…N… maybe??

  • January 21, 2009  - colby says:

You said it Devildog! Clay has the bloodlines too. His dad played about 37 seasons at LB in the NFL before he hung it up and his uncle Bruce was pretty epic himself. Any of those three USC backers would look great in a Chiefs uniform. I was a little down on Maualuga earlier in the year but I’m a believer again.

If Clay is there in round 3 and we haven’t taken a LB yet then he would be a super pick.

  • January 22, 2009  - JohnNdallas says:

Devildog, he was the guy that stood out to me.
I got to watch a little bit of the one on one drills, the man was getting it done!

Also kinda like that center outta Oregon (I think)
    can’t remember his name.

  • January 22, 2009  - Devildog1976 says:

    Thanks Gunny;
Those are the guys we need on our TEAM the ones who get it done.
