Game Day Inactives

From San Diego, California

For their game Sunday afternoon against the Chargers, the Chiefs placed eight players on the inactive list to reach the limit of 45 players.  Because they do not have a third quarterback to make inactive, they had to sit down an extra position player.

Inactive for the Chiefs will be:

  • CB Pat Surtain
  • CB Brandon Flowers
  • S DaJuan Morgan
  • TE Michael Merritt
  • LB Derrick Johnson
  • T Barry Richardson
  • T Andrew Carnahan
  • DE Turk McBride

If the Chiefs need a third quarterback, WR Mark Bradley will fill the role.  Of the six players added last week to the roster, five are active for today’s game.  LB Rocky Boilman will start for Johnson and rookie CB Maurice Leggett will start for Flowers.  Newly signed CB David Macklin is expected to be the nickel back.  Alphonso Boone has moved into the starting spot for McBride.  Rookie Kevin Robinson will replace rookie Dantrell Savage on punt returns.  Savage will still handle the kick returns.

It’s a cloudy and windy day in San Diego, with game-time temperatures expected to be in the mid 60s.  There was a brief and light rain shower as the team was arriving at the stadium and conditions could provide more  light rain at kickoff.

Inactive for the Chargers today are: LB Anthony Waters, LB Derek Smith, G Kynan Forney, T Corey Clark, WR Buster Davis, TE Kris Wilson and DT Ian Scott.  Charlie Whitehurst is the third inactive quarterback behind Philip Rivers and Billy Volek.

Herm should be fired within 24 hours! 24 HOURS!

Colby-did you just post this after the missed two pt conversion. I’m livid!!!!

    Poor choice to go.

You bet redandgoldbleeder! After taking 15-20 minutes to cool off, I still feel the same way. The players played hard, the game was very enjoyable, but Herm seems incapable of making good decisions when the game is close at the end of games. He needs to go. Do we want this mush head making the calls for us in a close playoff game? (Provided we get to the playoffs while he’s here)

Wait , same old grap , Tony was shoved by 2 hands defender directly to the ground . I really am begining to think the NFL refs, are on a mission to take the down teams, down on close games . Im saying this because either Im blind or what , I dont know . Why is it OK for REFs to deside the outcome of these games over and over ,or am I just nuts ?

Ok Jim-I agree Gonzo was mauled!!

I do think there was a bad no-call there, but still, two point conversion ON THE ROAD! You’ve got to be kidding me. This was like a playoff game for these younger guys. Take it to OT, give the guys a chance. If San Diego get the ball first and rams it down KC’s throat…so be it, if the offense would have gotten the ball, it would have been Chiefs 26 Chargers 20.

3 close games now. They’ve got to get one!!

I still don’t see how Clark thinks the Chiefs are going in the right direction. The record speaks volumns.
    2005 10-6 under Vermeil
    2006 9-7 under Hermie
    2007 4-12 under Hermie
    2008 1-8 under Hermie
This is really disheartening. If things don’t change we’ll be known as the Lions of the midwest. Great game by Tyler and Tony G, Bowe and Bradley. Herm has got to go. Maybe to the Raiders.

Herm gets an AMEN from me on this one guys. Look! We had already blew a snap on a pat, and with the Hodge podge Defense we had patched together it was the right call!!
Take your choice, either go for the win (2 point conversion) or risk another blown snap or take a chance on a coin toss.

IMO it was a good call, showed a little confidence in our offense, (yes I know it dissed the D a bit but)Herm gets an “atta boy” on this one. I would like to see Thigpen roll out to his left occasionally.

Good game! Chiefs are showing some serious improvement on BOTH SIDES of the ball.

Three great games in a row out of Thigpen. I don’t know who that scared kid in Atlanta was but I like the QB on the field I see right now. I know he’s gone through cold spells in the 2nd halves of all three games but he isn’t turning the ball over and is keeping us in these games! How about Mark Bradley? Chicago must be sick they let this guy go! And aren’t you guys glad that the Chiefs kept Tony G around? He’s been instrumental in Thigpen’s development.

Too bad our coach is unworthy of his position.

Someone please tell Herm to please not appoligse for anything TODAY ! This was so hopefull to see AN under dog , jump up and fight an Indian fight like this ,AND do good— + like —they showed without thier hatches . GOOD GAME !

Seriously, you guys need to take a valium. I said before the game we didn’t have any right to be close in this game with our injury report and it got significantly worse during the game. The coaches did a phenomenal job to use that patchwork group and stay competitive. I saw Dorsey take big strides today. We play strong run defense against a great running back tandem, and our quarterback showed he can do it in the clutch. That’s all he had not shown yet. This was phenomenal good news. Why in the world would you want to go to overtime?!? We’re freakin’ 1-7, and we’ve played a great game despite the fact we would barely field 11 on defense? What was there to lose- a playoff spot???? Seriously. We will continue to improve this year, get a great draft pick even if we win 4 or 5 games, and next year, we should be able to compete for postseason. Maybe valium isn’t strong enough for you.

Congrats to the chiefs on fighting today. I am sorry to admit it but this kind of effort extends herm’s tenure.

Great call to go for 2. I didn’t care if they made it or not, it was the right call. They were 1-7, had botched a PAT, AND they probably didn’t even have enough players to play another quarter. Good on Herm to not even hisitate. Not sure I agreed with the call…2 receivers in the pattern?? Oh well, they played as hard as they have all season. I think the LB play was much better as well as the DL. Boiman may be someone to look at. The guy brings it.

Thigpen again doesn’t dissapoint. Bradley is looking more and more like a great find. Too bad the secondary was so banged up.

I got a good chuckle out of the CBS commentators in the booth. I can’t tell you how many times they were calling out Napoleon Harris for making tackles. I thought we might have had a 12th man out there that no one could see but the CBS crew. Apparently they didn’t get an updated roster this week.

It was a very well fought game. Even though we didn’t end up with a second win, I am glad to say that our team is continuing to improve by great strides. I can’t wait for next weeks game.

Keep up the great work Coach Edwards. All of KC is behind you and we know that you will lead us back to glory very soon now.

AND NOW, Clark Hunt has RE-affirmed Herm’s The Man!

    :-)

  • November 10, 2008  - True Red & Gold says:

Wow Colby, I am disappointed in your post. Going for two was the only choice. We have a completely depleted D that played their asses off and you wanted to ask more of them? You have got to be kidding. You people are so predictable! It doesn’t matter what Herm’s decision is, if it doesn’t work he is a idiot, no wander he could care less what you all think!

I mean have you ever seen a better job of coaching? The best coaching staff in that stadium was so obvious a blind man could have seen it. You Herm haters should open up your eyes, you are missing something special!
