I don’t want Polian. I’d take someone else from Indy, but not him. I agree, the nepotism isn’t a good thing. Also, any trades with Indy or lack of activity with Indy are open to suspicion, on both ends. A GM’s job is to get the better of other teams. Is a son going to be ruthless enough to do it to his father, and vice versa. Has this situation existed before in the NFL? I’d rather look elsewhere, and let young Polian take over from the elder when the time comes. If Polian is hired, then we know the fix was in, and Clark would only hire a GM that wanted to keep Herm around, which is the worst thing for this team, going forward.

Don’t really care who Clark hires as a GM, I would just hope he wouldn’t hire someone based on what their father accomplished. Hopefully, his pick will be base on their own merits and a proven track record. Not saying Polian doesn’t have a good record, I don’t really know, but his dad shouldn’t be any sort of factor. I get the feeling he will make a very good decision. I like the fact that the Chiefs search is no where in the national news. Everything is being done out of the papers unlike Cleveland and Denver. I think that says a lot about Clark Hunt.

The thing you have to keep in mine John is this. Hypothetical situation: its not like Chris is a quarterback and we’re hoping his father who may have been a great quarterback we’re hoping he can produce the same results on the field.

His father was is a great GM. Physical are not always passed down from father to son, but knowledge can be passed down from one person to the next. Thats why I say Chris would be a good hire because hanging around a guy that smart that knowledge has to rub off on him. Especially with Chris being his son. Thats all I’m saying. HIghly intelligent people tend to all hang around each other. I do feel that this kid is a sharp guy just on the basis of him being around his father absorbing all that knowledge about football and how to build a team.

I think Freeman probably will drop to round 2. If he does, he may be a good addition there, but not before we pick up a solid Sam or Mike linebacker. Hopefully by next year B. Richardson will be ready to step in at right tackle. I would like to see the chiefs trade back a few spots & pick up Everette Brown from Florida State. I am more impressed with him than either Orakpo (Texas) or Johnson (Georgia Tech).

I agree with you Ed, Polian will make a great GM like you said with all the knowledge he absorbs from his father. This guy can come in and bring a new energy to this organization I can see him bringing in a unknown coach possibly from the college ranks or an assistant coach from a successful organization . I would love to see maybe a Jason Garrett or McPherson from New England as the new head coach.

jim lloyd, I tried doing as you suggested, didn’t seem to make any difference, it’s still takes forever to load Bob’s site.

I started having problems a couple days ago, after Bobs site went down.

It just seems unlikely to me we’re going to land Pioli if he wants to be President and GM. Hunt has already stated the job will be split in two. He doesn’t want another Peterson type guy. I can understand that. Hopefully if we don’t land Pioli we can get Chris Polian from the Colts. His father built the 90s Bills, the mid 90s Panthers, and now the Colts. I’m sure the kid has learned alot on how to build a football team being around all that knowledge.

The Shanarat to Dallas makes some sense. Shanny might be given the control he desires; did Parcells have this control, too? Not sure how many other franchises will do that, since it doesn’t seem to work (Coach/GM). I’m assuming that Shanny wants both roles, but I haven’t heard him comment on that.

Any news on what role(s) Shanny desires?

Well here is the start of under-classmen QB’s coming out for the 2009 NFL draft, could there be more?

Or maybe the question really is, are there any worth a look @ #3 spot?

IMO we need to pick a OT and sure up the O-line for what ever QB we put back there.
