Rin Tin Tin says:
Herm Edwards UBER ALLES!

heh heh heh!!!

“Herm you’re the best!”

“I know that Rin!”

I am one of those older generational guys who just love football, and the chiefs are from my home town. Your nonsense HAS become a bore... The organization has never gone through a transition like now--Even JR. is new! I challenge you to seriously eat crow in front of everyone if you are mistaken about those little faces of yours...

Russ-- And don't reply friend with that farce you pen as language.

Good to see Dorsey performing well. Alot of people started to right this guy off as a bust with comparisons to Ryan Sims. Which is totally ridiculous after the guy only been in the league for one year. Him, Tjax, Magee, and Tank are going to give us one of the best defensive lines in the league for years to come. Just imagine how good TJax and Magee will be next year this time. NOw we just need to add another young pash rushing OLB to replace Vrabel and another inside linebacker. This defense will be one of the best in the league as Pioli continues to add talent. And Dorsey, Tank, Magee, and Tyson will be the building blocks.

I knew Herm would go..always happen whenever some new hotshot company comes in,keep the workers u are committed 2 finacially and let every1 else go and make the ones who contract is up soon prove they deserve 2 be there. But the way Pioli went about it was f***ed up,he should have sent the Herm packin as soon as he moved in his new office...instead of holding him hostages until almost draft day. Pioli and Haley walk around like thier sh*t dont stink and being that they both have all the "football credentials" I want them 2 show us as fans that they can take "any 22" or 53 for that matter and go 2-14! B/c none of thier draft choices have made a real impact on a 2-14 team yet except for Succop, which 2 me is a huge red flag. But I'll try 2 reserve my opinion for this 2 jokers after I see a full 16 games.

"...blame Herm for everything!"

2 wins in 2008 (pin the responsibility on the head coach seems reasonable to me) doesn't seem to be reason to keep someone on your payroll.

Yeah Herms record doesnt reflect what he was trying 2 do but in the end u will see the Chiefs start 2 flourish b/c of guys like Flowers,Dorsey,Tank and IMO Page has been or best player by far on D-fense for a 7th rd pick. But if u guys wanna give Haley credit than fine he is the best coach for the job and he is going take this team back 2 the playoffs but the real truth is "IMO" we drafted some great young talent that when it starts 2 come togeter for them watch out b/c no matter how impatient us as fans can be at time, the learning curve is different for each individual player! Go Chiefs in 2009 and Beyond!!!!!

Its funny how u so called fans want 2 blame Herm for everything! At the end of the day what Herm saw was a team with no real young stars(minus #88 of course)acquired from the draft due 2 C.Peterson, but only castoffs from different teams and brought together by Vermiel who in the end turned Priest,Trent,Kennison into stars. So blame Herm if u want b/c he truly cared about building this team the right way. Herm didnt go out and sign Surtain,D.Edwards,V.Holiday etc ...Peterson did! So when Herm went over Petersons' head and was givin the ok by jr 2 tear this team apart and rebuild it the right way thru the draft(the right way)Peterson felt underminded b/c due 2 his own selfish reasons he couldnt see or maybe didnt care that by trying 2 glue pieces together didnt fix the problem but only allowed us fans 2 believe that every year we had a contender but the truth is we were only pretenders!

"I think dorsey is starting to come on finally. I really think it has all to do with HALEY."

I personally believe that Dorsey would have been tearing the league up this year whether or not Haley was here, I dont believe that Haley actually has Dorsey playing better, I do believe that Dorsey has himself playing better... Just because he has seen the game last year and now can learn from what he saw... He did pretty damn good last year, 50 tackles and a sack... look at what Haynesworth did in his first year, you'll see that Dorsey wasn't that far off, even Warren Sapp for that matter...

I think Bob was saying Dorsey is better because its his 2nd year .I believe its the change of coaching..... getting this team into shape.....plus the change to the 34 defence. I have been critical of Dorsey ......but one game doesn't make a season . Go Chiefs any GM off the street....... can get you 20yrs without a Superbowl.

"I’ll say one thing – the Chiefs held the McFadden/Bush combo to 70 yards rushing last Sunday. That’s not bad."

Not bad at all. Now if we can somehow increase the sack total and the opponent's last drive of the 4th quarter sack total, that would be nice.

Is that what that dude is doing here? I wondered. I thought maybe he just swiped one of the doctor's laptops, and was getting his kicks before they figured it out. Anyone who calls Herm Edward's career "successful" is surely locked away somewhere. Or needs to be.

Anyway, thanks for the advice guys.

Rin Tin Tin says
the “another guys” team(s) couldn’t make the playoffs a cumulative 4 years in a row – until Herm took “their guys” – & WON with them (try comprehending what you read there prototype 62 nee ‘blinders’)
If you recall he went 9-7 having to have 3 teams loose to make it in to the playoffs, which in his defense did happen. The year before we went 10-6 and became the 3rd team to do so and not make it to the playoffs. Dick did not hand Herm a great team, but Herm did nothing to change it he just made it worse, it was time for him to go.
Hailey may end up not being the answer, but I love his attitude, but if your a Chiefs fan you have to give him a chance. I will argue no furthure Rin

"I do not see 24 points unless you feel Spec. Teams and def can score most of it."

I think field position will be improved for much of this game - as I expect Kolb to turn it over a couple times at least. Short field equates to points. McCoy (a rookie) might well be carrying the ball. That could create short field opportunities also.

el cid says:
"Anyone? Jackson has 1 tackle, Magee has 2 since the start of the real season. What is up with that? I have heard over and over it takes time but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while"

I thought Jackson was pretty bad against the Ravens, much better against the Raiders. McGee hasn't been on the field all that much.

With the 3-4 defense tackles aren't necessarily the whole story of whether a guy is doing his job. I think a better indication is run charts; how often did opponent run to Jackson's side, and how successful were they? Even run charts don't tell the whole story.

I'll say one thing - the Chiefs held the McFadden/Bush combo to 70 yards rushing last Sunday. That's not bad.

- the “another guys” team(s) couldn’t make the playoffs a cumulative 4 years in a row – until Herm took “their guys” – & WON with them (try comprehending what you read there prototype 62 nee ‘blinders’)

LIAR LIAR PANT"S ON FIRE
hadn't been in the playoffs for two years, not four. They did have THE NUMBER 1 OFFENSE IN THE NFL THOUGH.

The Chiefs had the NFL's best offense in 2002, led by Priest Holmes, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez, Dante Hall, and offensive linemen Willie Roaf and Will Shields. In 2003 the Chiefs started the season 9–0 and finished with a 13–3 record, making the playoffs and winning the AFC West. They also had the NFL's top ranked offense for the second straight year. The Chiefs went 7–9 in 2004, even though they had the NFL's top ranked offense for the third consecutive year. The Chiefs performed poorly due to their soft defense, which was ranked 31st out of 32 teams in the league.

Vermeil returned with the Chiefs for the 2005 season with one of the NFL's best offenses, and an improved defense. Vermeil's play calling in 2005 uncharacteristically included more high risk calls. Pro Bowl running back and team leader Priest Holmes suffered a season-ending injury against the San Diego Chargers in the eighth week of the season. However, his injury allowed the emerging Larry Johnson to start in his place. Under Johnson, the Chiefs' offense continued at its usual explosive pace. On December 31, Vermeil announced that he would retire at the conclusion of the 2005 season, and the next day he led the Chiefs to a 37–3 rout over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs, despite their 10–6 record.

The Chiefs had the NFL’s best offense in 2002, led by Priest Holmes, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez, Dante Hall, and offensive linemen Willie Roaf and Will Shields. In 2003 the Chiefs started the season 9–0 and finished with a 13–3 record, making the playoffs and winning the AFC West. They also had the NFL’s top ranked offense for the second straight year. The Chiefs went 7–9 in 2004, even though they had the NFL’s top ranked offense for the third consecutive year. The Chiefs performed poorly due to their soft defense, which was ranked 31st out of 32 teams in the league.

Vermeil returned with the Chiefs for the 2005 season with one of the NFL’s best offenses, and an improved defense. Vermeil’s play calling in 2005 uncharacteristically included more high risk calls. Pro Bowl running back and team leader Priest Holmes suffered a season-ending injury against the San Diego Chargers in the eighth week of the season. However, his injury allowed the emerging Larry Johnson to start in his place. Under Johnson, the Chiefs’ offense continued at its usual explosive pace. On December 31, Vermeil announced that he would retire at the conclusion of the 2005 season, and the next day he led the Chiefs to a 37–3 rout over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs, despite their 10–6 record.

Bubba, you can try to spin it any way you want. A 54 - 74 coaching record is below average. Period.

I wouldn't exactly call Edwards taking the Chiefs to the playoffs his first year some great achievement. They were 9-7, and got an improbable gift from the Football Gods to "back into" said playoffs. They really didn't deserve to be there, and it showed. The downward spiral had already begun, playoffs or not.

Winning a grand total of 6 games in his last two years doesn't look all that good on his resume, either.

Sure Clark Hunt to him to rebuild the team after a dismal 4 win season. Obviously, it was Hunt's mistake in assuming that Edwards could win more than two games while doing it.

And just for the record, the Chiefs are 0-2 not 0-6. Good to see that you're giving Haley a fair chance to try things his way, though. Two tough, close losses. What a loser. Let's run him out of town right now. I'm sure your guy Herm would have us setting the NFL on fire at this point. Right?

Anyone? Jackson has 1 tackle, Magee has 2 since the start of the real season. What is up with that? I have heard over and over it takes time but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while and would get in the way of a runner if nothing else but by accident much less run up the field and get in front of a QB.

September 25, 2009 - Rin Tin Tin says:
Herm Edwards – coached 4 playoff teams in 8 years – he remains the ONLY Head Coach in Texans/Chiefs franchise history to lead the team to playoffs in his very first season (lol@ .com)

Herm did the same in NY, there following the two consecutive non-playoff seasons by the (supposed) great one Bill Parcells (overhyped) and Al Groh – Herm took NY there his very first year TOO.

Which is why Herm no longer has a job... You said it yourself Rin his first year... AKA with another guys team.
He then ran the Jets, and Chiefs into the toilet.
Herm may be a great man, but as a coach there are few worse.

He takes the lack of success as Parcells and Groh demonstrated (& too Vermeil in KC, who missed the playoffs in each of his his last two seasons) and turns said into playoffs.

After doing things Carl P's way for his first two seasons KC '06 & '07, Herm got an owner approved go ahead to 'start' an rebuild 2008 (one was LONG overdue as Vermeil had let the team disintegrate into decrepit disrepair and as well knew only the lyrics to 'offensive football.'

Alas, the 'go ahead' Jr. became a hollow promise - and the wallet and dwindling turnstile$ won out over the resolve & integrity part. The impatience cheifsfandumb begot this present day par for the course 0-6 drive into the rough... FORES & BOGEYS ad nauseam.

Now 0-6 on the 2009 season, KC is getting EXACTLY what it asked for AND deserves - enjoy! - for the ride to perdition nee 0-20 has just begun!

heh heh heh!!!

Rin Tin Tin,

Your fascination with a below average coach is pretty strange, and in reality a little disturbing. Edwards is the main reason the Chiefs are the worst team in the NFL. So why you constantly toot his horn, like he's some sort of coaching God, is beyond me. Haley is just trying to clean up the mess Herm left behind.

My advice to you remains the same, Bubba. Put that doobie away, and stop posting when you're stoned.

SG says:
"Were we playing too passively and they just scored on us or did we run out of gas?"

I think as much as anything, this team simply just does not know how to win a game. Of course, some of the vets we acquired from other teams do. But the bulk of our team has experienced nothing other than losing. It's become habit. That's the mindset Haley is trying to change. It's not easy, though. I have seen more inspired play so far this year. They just hane not been able to sustain it for the entire game yet. I'll tell you what, turning the Chiefs around is a going to be a monster task. I don't envy Haley one bit.

I think we were playing alittle to passively. I think that clancy would have blitzed more and would have been more agressive if that all out blitz call against Baltimore didnt come back and bite him in the ass. So, with time, we will find the right formula the this D. Were competitive, Cassel will become more comfortable, it will come!! WINS that is!!

Sg wish you were correct but a KC win 24-17? Where is the 24 coming from? The scoring by this offense is not there yet. Bowe nicked, LJ just starting to gain yardage, "experiments" at TE. I do not see 24 points unless you feel Spec. Teams and def can score most of it. Do not like moral victories, sorry, but this team is not ready for much else.

"I think dorsey is starting to come on finally."

He's showing up to play and is in shape. Very encouraging. Did you see what happened in that late 4th quarter OAK drive? Were we playing too passively and they just scored on us or did we run out of gas?

"I guess we are looking for another morale victory game on sunday."

If I was Coach Haley, should you have to run a few laps around the field or get put on the list to be cut when we trim the roster to 53? When did we as fans decide a moral victory (aka acceptance of a loss) was satisfactory?...let's raise the bar...expect the team and its leadership to get wins (and be disappointed if it doesn't).

Westbrook is banged up. McNabb doesn't appear likely to go. If Kolb starts, I'll guess...24-17 Chiefs. If Garcia starts, I'll guess...KC 26-24(with an extraordinary play by Flowers, we thwart the 4th Qtr. 2008 Tampa disaster).

I think dorsey is starting to come on finally. I really think it has all to do with HALEY. He got him in shape, as wll as the rest of our old fat team, he changed the D scheme, he and the staff are COACHING the players. This hasnt happened in 4 years! What a difference coaching can have on players!!

"Does anyone else think that O’Connell is a big reason we lost that game and Cassell looked average?"

To answer your first question..."no." Technically we had the lead b4 the last drive for OAK and our defense didn't keep the lead. O'Connell wasn't on the field for that.

To answer your second...Cassel wasn't overly impressive, but participated in decisions that cost the team points (e.g. the first half screen pass in the flat expecting RB to get out of bounds instead of throwing it only to the sidelines or out of bounds while in FG range) and made throws that made Michael Huff of the Raiders look pretty good.

Let's save ourselves the aggravation on this: A guy Herm drafted, Bernard Pollard, got picked up by Houston. We're not surprised he got picked up or that he might turn out to be successful. Honestly, very few if any of us give a hoot what percentage of the current roster was drafted by Herm, Haley, or whatever since Herm is history.

For those of us who are not Raiders, please don't waste additional comment screen space discussing this any further as a reply to certain people.

I think that O’Connell should no longer be active until he gets his head out of his Butt!!! You can't tell me that Cottom would have blown those plays.

Yes, I do think that Cassel could have used a little help out there. He did great in the pocket I thought and used his mobility well. He'll be better this week.

I thought it was interesting that Charles was out but I have always been a fan of Savage. There's something about his running that's exciting to watch. I was bummed last year when they sent him to the practice squad. I think Savage has a better sense of what is going on around him then Charles and it seems that Savage can break tackles along the way.

I'm wondering if they bench Battle this week since he's 4th on the depth chart?

When the season goes on and more guys are hurt I bet that there will be less controversy around the inactives.

First good games for Dorsey and I am glad he is starting to be seen.

I guess we are looking for another morale victory game on sunday. Maybe the P or K will do something nice.

-"Does anyone else think that O’Connell is a big reason we lost that game and Cassell looked average?"

I thought that Cassel showed a lot against the Raiders. Good leadership, very competitive, and threw the ball well. On the down side he made a couple of bonehead decisions and backed into a couple of rushes. That is just part of growing with a second year starter in a new system.

O'Connell was definitely a turd on the field. Took one pass off the helmet when he wasn't looking. Dropped a couple of catchable balls. Hope to see Cottam get his chance this week and O'Connell on the inactives.

Will be interesting to see if Savage and Charles are both active or if they rotate again. Savage brought something to the offense that Charles has yet to offer.

You know, our defense did a lot of great thing last week, and it really bites that we didn't walk away with a win. Easy example; we went from getting torched by a TE in week 1 to holding Miller (a possible Pro Bowler with Gonzo in the NFC) to zero catches.

Does anyone else think that O'Connell is a big reason we lost that game and Cassell looked average? Did he catch a single pass that came his way? Watching the game again, it looked like he blew it on at least four plays. Sean Ryan is so superior to him in every aspect of the game that it will literally make me ill if O'Connell gets any PT against the Eagles.
