Chiefs Teed Up for Tahoe Celebrity Golf

The American Century Championship began its three rounds of play on Friday morning at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

In the field of more than 80 sports figures and stars from the entertainment world were five golfers with Chiefs ties, led by QB Alex Smith and K Ryan Succop. Both players were first time participants in the event that’s been going for 24 years now.

Also playing with Chiefs ties were Hall of Fame RB Marcus Allen, former head coach Herm Edwards and QB Trent Green.

Smith was paired with former NFL safety John Lynch and NHL goalie Martin Brodeur. Succop was part of a threesome of NFL kickers, joining Oakland’s Sebastian Janikowski and Chicago’s Robbie Gould.

Allen played with QB Carson Palmer and former NBA star Penny Hardaway. Green went out with U.S. Olympic captain for 1980 Mike Eruzione and former pitcher Jamie Moyer. Edwards played with Denver head coach John Fox and Atlanta head coach Mike Smith.

Play continues on Saturday and Sunday and will get television coverage from NBC on both days.
