“Whether the draft, free agency, trades, claiming players on waivers, we need to improve our team every single day.”

Chiefs Re-Sign Chambers

There are two kinds of activity in NFL free agency. There is going out and signing players from other teams. And, just as important, there’s signing your own free agents that you want to keep on the roster.

The Chiefs are getting things done when it comes to keeping their own players as they announced Monday afternoon that they had re-signed vetern WR Chris Chambers. As always, no details were released by the team about the deal. But ESPN reports that it’s a three-year deal for as much as $15 million, with $5.9 million in guaranted dollars.

Everyone knows how important it was for the receiver starved Chiefs to hang onto Chambers. In nine games last year for the Chiefs he caught 36 passes for 608 yards and four TD receptions. After RB Jamaal Charles, Chambers was the most consistent and productive player on the team’s offense.

He will be 32 years old in August and the coming season will be his 10th in the NFL, after playing previously for Miami and San Diego.

Chambers joins OLB Mike Vrabel and WR Terrance Copper as UFAs or potential free agents who have re-signed with the club.

An important signing. An un-named Chiefs employee told radio station, this provides continuity that was not there last year. Cassel will have the “same guy” insted of the revolving door last year. Face it, I think he may replace Bowe as the #1 receiver, at least for a year with his ability to use his hands.

god, we would be much better if Bowe would actually catch the ball on a consistent basis. Is Chambers our answer? No, but he is way above anyother reciever we have right now.

    Good re-sign!!

Who cares. This is just to make up for missing the boat on Boldin. They couldn’t sign a stud so they signed a dud. Sounds familiar doesn’t it. Nobody else wanted Chumpbers so we signed him back. Thrilling stuff.

Debbie, never thought of that, since we need more than Chambers and Bowe and one more. Listen thanks for the fodder for the brain but I am the usual negativo for this site. This has got to be an arrow to Mad Chiefs heart, the thought that the Chiefs would sign based on missing out on a better player rather than “being active in free agency” per Mr Pioli.

Pioli is a joke. What has he done. His draft was a joke. His FA signings are a joke. Nobody wants to play for Pioli and his joke of a head coach. Anyone laughing at this joke of a team and management? Hope you all enjoyed 4 wins last year because that will be the win total for next year too.

Is that really you hermstheman? Or Mad Chief, have you gone crazy?

Chambers is better for this team than Boldin. He brings a deep threat that Boldin wouldn’t, and he didn’t cost a draft choice. Good signing by Pioli, and I’m glad we “lost” in the Boldin bidding. A high 3rd is too much for him at this stage.
