Chiefs Fill Open Roster Spot With DB

With a roster spot open after the release of WR Mardy Gilyard, the Chiefs on Friday signed CB Conroy Black.

At 6-0, 187 pounds, Black signed last year out of the University Utah by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent. He was released just before the start of the regular season.

That’s when he was signed by the Lions and he then spent the entire 2012 NFL season on Detroit’s practice squad until he was released on May 16th.

In 2 seasons at Utah, he played in 26 games with 13 starts, picking up 58 total tackles, 1 sack and 5 interceptions. Prior to playing for the Utes, he spent two seasons at Fullerton (Junior) College in California.

A native of Jamaica, Black went to Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida.
