Chiefs Cut Rookie DE

The Chiefs roster is now at 89 after the release on Tuesday of rookie DE Risean Broussard.

Actually, it’s officially 86 as unsigned 2013 draft choices Eric Fisher, Travis Kelce and Nico Johnson do not count against the 90-player limit until they have officially inked a contract.

Broussard was signed after just one season of college football at Hinds Junior College in Mississippi. Coming out of high school he was one of the most highly recruited schoolboy players in the country, growing up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. But various problems, mostly academic, sidetracked his football career.

There are now 11 defensive linemen on the Chiefs roster.
