Chiefs Agree With McClain; Add More UDFAs

From St. Joseph, Missouri

The Chiefs and UFA RB Le’Ron McClain agreed on a multi-year contract Wednesday afternoon.

The club added two more undrafted rookie free agents to their roster as well.

McClain is a 26-year old, fifth-year NFL veteran who played 63 games with Baltimore over the previous four seasons. He is 6-0, 260 pounds and out of Alabama, where he grew up and where he played for the Crimson Tide.

He started 54 games with the Ravens, running for 1,185 yards on 314 carries with 12 touchdowns. He’s proven to be a good receiver as well, catching 70 passes for 453 yards and 2 TDs.

Also signed were a pair of defensive backs: Javes Lewis and Mario Russell.

This is a really good pick-up for the Chiefs. He’ll add authority on the goal line and in short yardage that was lacking last year. I’m still hoping for good news on Hali and Carr soon.

All of y’all Chiefs/Pioli/Hunt haters that enjoy telling others how to spent their money ought to recognize that the personnel department is putting together some pieces that correct many of the Chiefs’ weaknesses. Say what you will…

Ok, I am happy, I guess. Not wild with McClain because he is a FB but nice addition, especially as the OL that got beat up in the playoff game is basically the same.

If you had a real interest in us haters, you might realize we are more interested in long term contracts for Hali and Carr. Might be a bigger concern than a FB. To spend money wisely is as important as just spending money.

One oddity, other sites are reporting it was a one year contract, can’t imagine it, BOB??

FANTASTIC signing. This Baldwin, and Breaston has solved our 2 biggest problems on Offense, Short yardage and goal line back, and 2nd and slot WR. Wow. We have weapons all over the place. Fantastic offseason so far for Mr Pioli. The guy kinda knows what he’s doing, LOL.

I was hoping for this. Goal to go and such. Seemed to struggle last year. leron is a baller. As far as the haters… our oline?

yeah maybe got beat up, ravens are good up front. Kelly gregg good signing no? Also i think todd heap and our D was a bigger issue in that game.

Our oline lead the best rushing attack in football and did reasonably well defending cassel. Tough to lay it on them. It wasn’t the last indy playoff game.

Things are looking good on the acquisition front, but this season will still be tough and these guys will need time to get up to speed with our playbook. I know this is an issue league-wide so I’m hoping that our guys are smarter than the other teams’ guys. Pioli seems like he goes for smart so I’m hoping we’re good.

All I know is that we need to beat the Raiders at least once this year. #BlackholeBlues

I will go on record today as admitting I was mistaken in my recent comments whining about letting Shaun Smith go and getting Gregg vs. someone else. This GREAT move coupled with signing of Tamba will really help this team. As per usual, the “silent treatment” of not announcing these until yesterday/today was likely planned – these were likely approved prior and waited until today to announce.

Marty Schottenheimer had the right approach – he hated OAK with a passion and would probably take Haley behind a woodshed with regard to our rate of failure regarding that team. Haley would then use that name that should be banished for all time…and they both would then shake hands and walk away.

I really love this signing. Now we have a short yardage guy that can get that hard earned extra yard without getting pushed back. If he weighs 260 like the article says, he will be a beast!!!!!!!
