I didn’t see Herbie playing right tackle. I saw McIntosh stand in the right tackle spot, and saw Richardson playing there, but I missed Herb Taylor ever being in that slot during the game Saturday. I thought they were only allowing him to play left backup now. I don’t like the idea, because I think he is our next best tackle, and should be playing on the right side. It requires more run blocking skill and these days still gets a pass rush at times.

Yea, I try to read what that rin guy has to say and usually get tired of his emoticons after the first sentence. He doesn’t seem to like the new regime and is attached to the ol’ Herminator. Listen, at first I hated it when Herm was fired too, but the bottom line is he was 6-26 and the only records he broke here at KC was: Least sacks in one season, broke LJ’s back with 416 carries and fewest wins among two seasons. The guy didn’t deserve to stay.

I’m hoping Haley will whip them into shape. At least with pioli we can say our offensive line is better, our depth at QB is the best it’s been in a long time(I mean, I bet Minnesota would kill to have our third string QB). Do you realize that we got two sacks vs. the texans. That’s 20% of our entire season last year! Yea it’s the preseason, but Rin you use the same foul logic when you assume that after 10 passes in a preseason game, Cassell is a huge bust. I like croyle but that guy is the best backup qb we’ll ever have, simply because he’s not durable.

Richardson in the starting line up. WOW!!! He must be really improving or Herb and McIntosh are really looking bad. I know Herb didn’t perform well at all in the preseason game. I have no problem with the head coach moving guys around. Its pre season you move pieces to sit which guys are the best fit and going to give team best chance to win. IF Richardson is out performing everyone else then start him. If he start to slack and someone else starts to out play him then move him to the second team and move the new guy to the first. Its competition thats the purpose guys are going to get demoted and promoted based on how well they play up until the season starts.

Just heard most of the Sirius coverage at the Chief’s camp and heard the comments of Pioli, Haley, Albert, Thomas and Cassel. The certain message being received by the players and espoused by the coach and GM is one of the same:

Do things the right way, our way, and we’ll improve. It’s not about the talent, per se’, but about the above sentence, that is, guys who buy in and get that elusive consistency factor going in their favor.

Interesting comments and I’m encouraged by the certain theme and strategy. It was also reinforced that building this team is not going to happen in a season, that it’s a process which I’m also good with. FYI everyone.

Two Comments: First-I watched Saturdays game on tape replaying every 1st half play three times and here is what I saw.

#1 There were only 4 “bad” plays not directly weather related. #2 The weather was more severe when the Chiefs were on offense than the Texas (freeky…see it for yourself) including the Texans TD drive. #3 There was two bad calls and one no-call by the refs that hurt the Chiefs and #4, they had a little (just a little) more bad luck in the 1st half than Texans.

I was more impressed with the team than I thought I would. I do wish it was good weather for the 1st preseason game to be able to more precisely evaluate players. (And Cassell wasn’t rusty..2 tipped/batted balls, one dropped on target and two completions)

Second-I have been waiting for Hailey to put Richardson into the RT spot and I hope Hailey plays the “first team” offensive line (whoever they are) the entire 1st half this week. They need much gel time.

At this point I have no faith in Richardson.

Further, if the coaches want to give these young guys the best chance of developing, then they should stick them in 1 position and LEAVE THEM.

Constantly moving Richardson, Taylor, and others from the Left to the Right side will only stunt their growth.

I hope Haley’s eyes opened up to Mcintosh’s inability to do his job. I’m sure he will blame his lack of production on Haley’s “hard” practice’s. If you all recall, Bob quoted McIntosh saying “I’m on a football team, not a track team.” He may soon be on the recliner team with the rest of us on Sunday’s. “Beeeotch gimme a beer!” Either way the O-Line looks like it has since we lost Roaf, Shields, and Coach Solari.

Lelie will probably be like Devard Darling. Looks great in practice, but you will never hear anyone call his name in a game. Webb you may be able to call Herm for a lawn care or house cleaning job?

I hope Zach Thomas will get an opportunity to play this year. IMO his run D and intensity are hard to beat. On the other hand, his back-up looked very capable in all aspects.
