Was cut off before I finished. ....After sufferring for a couple of years with out LB Coach, Gary Gibbs, as their DC. Gibbs may be a good LB coach, but he was among the most vanilla, unagressive DC's I've ever seen.

Actually Payton took a pay cut because NO was offerring DC Greg Williams $250,000 less the Williams demanded, and Payton knew how important an aggressive, gambling DC would be, after suffering for so he kicked in his own money to ensure Williams was hired. The GM refunded Payton the money.

So our recievers could catch a ball from Brees, but not from Cassel? Sure.

Also, Cassel's money is not "elite" money. It's pretty average, really. It all falls to what the going rate is when you sign. So if he makes the same money as Brees, it's because Brees signed his "big money" deal years ago. Every year the salaries go up.

I dont hate the guy, he is just a mediocre QB thats getting paid big tyme money....just calling a spade a spade. I doubt Brees would have sucked on this team we would have gone 8-8 atleast if we had a QB of his caliber.

Alex(The Great) says:
"And 2 think Matt Cassel is making almost the same amount of money Brees is making…brings a sour taste in my mouth!"

Are you a jilted ex-lover of Matt Cassel or what? Seriously dude, get over your hate for the guy.

If Cassel played for the Saints, he probably would have looked a lot better this year. On the other side, if Brees played for the Chiefs we would have still sucked.

The real beauty of this call for an on-side kick was the element of surprise. Who would call one at the start of the 2nd half? In the 4th quarter of a close game is predictable, but to start things off with a surprise bang after the half-time entertainment? The Colts were busy figuring on adjustments to their game plan for the 2nd half.
I wonder how hard it would be to find the statistics on the success rate of this type of onside kick, as opposed to the "predictable" one.

The Saints were aggressive on offense, defense, and special teams. Mark of a Parcells protege? I'm thinking we will see more of this with the Chiefs this year.

On another note: another column soon from Enrique'? Please?

Go CHIEFS!

gorillafan,

Sean Payton took a pay cut so the team would sign or keep some of his players, I think Vilma may have been one of those, not sure bout that.

Brees didn't get a new car for his efforts? That's just not right. You're telling me that these car companies (that have done it in the past) are in such dire straits that they can't cough up one lousy new car between them? Bull. I bet Manning would have got one.

Must have been like old times for Len. He should have tucked it under his arm, lowered his shoulder, and plowed some guys over. Way to get the job done, though. Lenny's da man!

11 people showed up to "welcome home the Colts"? 11 people? Wow. Way to support your team, Indianapolis.
