Poinsettia Bowl

Wednesday, December 21, 7 p.m. CST, ESPN

Qualcomm Stadium/San Diego, California

Texas Christian (10-2)

#43 OLB Tank Carder, Redshirt-Senior – 6-2¼, 237 pounds, 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash – He was named the MVP of the 2011 Rose Bowl in TCU’s victory over Wisconsin. Carder followed that up by winning the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year. In 12 games, he’s had 66 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions that he returned for touchdowns. Over his career with the Horned Frogs, he’s played in 49 games, with 225 total tackles, 25 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 18 passes broken up and 2 forced fumbles. He’s a fourth to fifth-round prospect and will probably make any team due to his special teams coverage.

#80 TE Logan Brock, Redshirt-Senior – 6-2 ¾, 260 pounds, 4.73 seconds in the 40-yard dash – More of a blocker than a catcher at the tight end position, Brock has shown good hands over his career but that’s not likely to be his ticket into the NFL. In 50 games with the Frogs, Brock caught 21 passes for 292 yards and 5 scores. He’s a seventh-round/FA .

Louisiana Tech (8-4)

#5 RB Lennon Creer, Redshirt-Senior – 5-11¾, 215 pounds, 4.57 seconds in the 40-yard dash – He began his college career at Tennessee, where he played in 24 games over two years for the Volunteers before deciding to transfer when he started falling down the depth chart of new Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin. In the last two seasons for the Bulldogs, Creer has run for 2,019 yards with 19 touchdowns in 22 games. He’s not shown himself to be much of a receiver out of the backfield. The scouts view him as a fourth-fifth round prospect.

#4 WR Quinton Patton, Redshirt-Junior – 6-1 ½, 195 pounds, 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash – Patton was named to the All-WAC first team by the conference coaches after catching 74 passes for 1,135 yards and 10 touchdowns. He spent three years at Coffeyville Community College, sitting out the 2008 season but playing 19 games in 2009-10. He caught 73 passes for 996 yards and 7 TDs and he was also the team’s punter. Scouts are split on what the upside of Patton’s career may be. Patton should return for another year at LA-T.
