Purdue (6-6)

#93 DT Kawann Short, Redshirt Junior – 6-2 ½, 310 pounds, 5.2 seconds in the 40-yard dash – Selected first-team All-Big 10 Conference, Short was Purdue’s defensive MVP. He had 53 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and he blocked two kicks and forced a fumble. Overall in 36 games for the Boilermakers, Short has 141 total tackles, 24 TFL, 11 sacks, 2 INTs, 10 passes broken up and 4 blocked kicks. He’ll need a strong February, March and April if he decides to enter the NFL Draft, but he’s a probable choice in the third to fourth round.

#32 FS Albert Evans, Senior – 5-11 ¼, 208 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash – Ankle surgery before his junior season was a setback for Evans, but he came back for a strong senior season, playing 12 games with 68 total tackles, 1 INT and 4 passes broken up. Over 44 games in West Lafayette, he had 137 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. He’s a seventh-round/FA prospect.

Western Michigan (7-5)

#14 QB Alex Carder, Redshirt Junior – 6-1 ½ , 224 pounds, 4.9 seconds in the 40-yard dash – A local kid and ’08 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, Carder is a two-year starter at Western, completing 63.5 percent of his passes while throwing 58 TD passes against 22 interceptions. He’s a threat as a runner as well, carrying the ball 231 times. He lacks ideal size and certainly would benefit with another season in the college ranks to hone his skills, but he’ll get an NFL shot before his football career is over. Right now, he would be a late round draft choice.

#83 WR Jordan White, Redshirt Senior – 6-0, 215 pounds, 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash – Excellent athlete who has seen his career sidetracked by injuries. In fact, he petitioned and received a sixth-year of eligibility from the NCAA. In 2006 as a freshman, he tore the ACL in his right knee. Two years later, he tore the ACL in his left knee. Over his career, White has played in 42 games, catching 294 passes for 3,936 yards and 31 TDs. He averaged 9 yards a punt return. If he remains healthy, he’s a third-fourth round consideration due to his athletic ability.
