The Odds Are In . . . Chiefs 50-1 Shots

It’s a busy time of the year in pro football and all of it is happening off-the-field. It seems like every day the mailman brings a new package with a pre-season football magazine or the e-mail box starts to groan under the weight of messages about fantasy football and the odds facing NFL teams going into the season.

BetVega.com has the Chiefs as 50-1 shots at winning the Super Bowl. That ranks them in the top half of the league, tied up with Buffalo, Miami, Seattle, Tennessee and Washington. Today’s mail brought Phil Steele’s Pro Football Preview and Fantasy Football Guide and his College 2012 Football Preview. Steele also has them ranked at 50-1. The National Football Post does a good job on a daily basis of updating odds changing news for college and pro football. A host of other sites with pre-season football odds and fantasy football information can be found at sportsbook review.

All of these sites and publications have arrived at the same conclusion – they believe the Chiefs are a middle of the pack contender, lining up somewhere behind New England, Pittsburgh, Houston, Baltimore and the New York Jets. They are aligned in these early prognostications with San Diego, Denver, Buffalo, Cincinnati and Tennessee.

Over in the NFC, the favorite is Green Bay at 13-2 odds, trailed by San Francisco (10-1), Philadelphia (14-1), the defending champion New York Giants, Chicago and New Orleans (all listed at 18-1 odds).
