Tamba Joins Houston As Player of the Week

Tamba Hali was named Wednesday as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

Hali’s 3.5 sacks was judged the weekend’s top defensive effort in the conference, just like OLB Justin Houston’s performances against Jacksonville and Philadelphia brought him the honor and eventually the AFC Defensive Player of September.

It’s the second time in Hali’s career that he earned player of the week distinction. The previous mention came after the third game of the 2010 season when he sacked 49ers QB Alex Smith 3 times and forced a fumble in the Chiefs victory over San Francisco.

In six games this year, Hali has 7.5 sacks, 17 total tackles, 9 pressures, 2 forced fumbles and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.
