Pre-Game Report 9/27-UPDATE-Inactives

From Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

10:37 a.m. – Former Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin will make his first NFL start today, as he opens for the Eagles offense in place of Kevin Curtis. Also, Mark Bradley will take Dwayne Bowe’s spot in the starting lineup for the Chiefs.

10:35 a.m. – The Eagles have made all three healthy quarterbacks active for today’s game, with Kevin Kolb starting and Jeff Garcia and Michael Vick both part of the 45-man roster. Nursing his rib injury, Donovan McNabb is on the inactive list. Because all three of the QBs are active, Philly had to name eight inactive players: McNabb, Westbrook, CB Dimitri Patterson, FS Quintin Demps, G Mike McGlynn, OL Todd Herremans, WR Kevin Curtis and DE Jason Babin.

10:30 a.m. – The Chiefs got a big break as RB Brian Westbrook is inactive today because of an ankle injury he suffered last week. That should put rookie LeSean McCoy into the starting lineup.

10:25 a.m. – Both WR Dwayne Bowe and ILB Derrick Johnson will not play today against the Eagles, as they were part of the inactive listed just turned in to game officials. Also inactive for the Chiefs will be WR Quinten Lawrence, QB Matt Gutierrez, CB Ricardo Colclough, TE Jake O’Connell and LB Pierre Walters. Tyler Thigpen is the inactive third quarterback.

10:10 a.m. – The Chiefs quarterbacks and receivers are on the field going through their pre-game routine and WR Dwayne Bowe is not working with them. Bowe came up with what the Chiefs called a hamstring injury at mid-week and was listed as questionable for the game.

Also out working with the receivers is OLB Mike Vrabel. That may be an indication that Vrabel is about to continue his role as a tight end that he’s did so well during his time with the Patriots. He’s caught eight passes as a pro, all for TDs.

9:30 a.m. CDT – The morning has dawned cloudy, bleak and misty here in Philadelphia. There has been a lot of rain over the last 24 hours in the metro area, but right now it’s just a light mist falling on the grass playing surface here in south Philly.  Weather reports say the rain should be out of the area before kickoff, with temperatures expected in the mid 70s. It will be muggy.

No Duh-wayne? aww…well, that cuts our already slim and none chances winning down to less than nil exponentially…

“Also out working with the receivers is OLB Mike Vrabel.”

    - when your best WR potentially and/or based on history is a 34 year old LB, well… KC is 0-6

“That may be an indication that Vrabel is about to continue his role as a tight end that he’s did so well during his time with the Patriots.”

    - alas, we’re the winless, spineless jellyfish of a team known the ‘chiefs’, poseurs having not yet earned our capital letter a ‘C’ upon our helmeted team name same…and unlike a weekend New England here in Kansas City we spell relief

    E-N-D O-F S-E-A-S-O-N

Yes Virginia, in fact he CAN take any – ANY – 22 guys from off the street and… go 0(h) & 7 (the HALEY-MANITY!)

wow, what a waste of time…it really is amazing your dedication to hating the chiefs…upsetting fans…you think saying the season is over makes us fret? Please…we’ve won 2 in the last 27 games…that says any fan who is still staying strong, it a TRUE fan…

as for the ACTUAL INJURY REPORT
Lawrence out surprises with Bowe missing in action, one may think the rainy conditions has KC benching a fumble prone KR, not too sure, but having savage active with charles probably negates a need for a KR.

as for missing bowe, I have no idea how the offense will do without him….If you look back over the KC wins the past 2 years, Bowe played a HUGE role in a lot of those wins…

If Cassel has a good game, its time to leave him the F alone. Not you Rin, you do what you want to do no one cares.

I’m with Rin, this team, play calling, attitude, and expectation are no different from when Herm was here. I have never agreeded with Rin but maybe I was just overly optomistice. I admit I hated Herm, and thought a miracle was coming once he left. SORRY CHEIF FANS IT AIN’T HAPPENING. I feel like the fan from the movie “Wild Thing” I’m done routing, I’m done supporting until the coaching and team gets better. Signing off!

  • September 27, 2009  - REAL Chiefs Fan says:

Man, I am so sad about the Chiefs. I have come to the unfortunate realization that they are not good players and no matter what coaching and play calling tricks Haley provides, they do not have competitive talent. That said, I will continue to root for my team with an optimistic spirit.

However, Bob please listen, this is my last post and read, and, I ask that the rest of the fans join me in a boycott of this site until it is possible for Rin to be gone. I love Bob’s journalism skills and insight to the team. I also enjoy the fan insight provided by guys like Tenand6. However, i have stooped to Rin’s level too many times and will not anymore. I know to you I don’t have a face or a name and my input is not topnotch, but, I try to contribute. Many people have tried rational and irrational attempts to rid the site of people we would not associate with outside of the web. I ask to start a movement to force Bob to stand up for the loyal fans and readers by not visiting or posting period until things change for the better. I know this is fodder for Rin, but, I won’t be here to read or respond. Please join me in a tea party of protest against this unfortunate turn of events on an other wise outstanding site. Regards, Steve

I’ve enjoyed this site for over 2 years now but and by no stretch is a fly by night participant of the site. Though I’m not defending Rin by any means, “some” points (any i use this loosley) are on point. How many times have I visited the site and you all post the same “positives” which we should take from the game. Well today there were NONE and if you think so then you’re a loser too! Let see quarterback horrible, running back horrible, O-Line horrible, wider recievers below average, Defense lets guess……..horrible and drum roll…”the worst performance of the day goes to…………” Horrible Play Call Haley”

  • September 27, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

Stop it joe, stop it I say! You’re makin’ me  !

  • September 27, 2009  - REAL Chiefs Fan says:

Joe – no doubt you are correct. I agree with your summation of the Chiefs today. Nobody played well – even Colquit’s punts were lousy. LJ is officially washed up. That really sucks! I am mad as hell they lost. They could have won today.
There is nothing wrong with back and forth debate. Even strong words are ok. But, some people use the same old played out shtick that just doesn’t resonate with the majority. If you have to read the post multiple times to weed out the obtuse references, then it loses credibility. Unfortunately, that lack of credibilty is clogging up this site – just look above. Emoticon laced sarcasm becomes ponderous after while.

BTW Joe – I agree that Haley called some strange ones. But, to his credit, when play is that bad, you get desperate and try to hail Mary your way to a victory. Haley and Pioli will get the same three years of hope from me that Herm got. However, I reflect on the mess that Herm left behind and realize that he and Carl have left this orgnaization in a mess no less than the Lions are (were) in. I do not believe under any circumstances that Haley / Pioli will do the same. I am in the business of rebuilding businesses and know that talent turn around and process improvement are arduous and draining. this will take a LONG time. In my mind today I thought of who the Chiefs might trade next week for talent in return. Nada – noone. We’re a team of misfits and castaways.

I love my Chiefs just like I love my kids. Not a day goes by that they don’t piss me off, but, I kiss ‘em good night and tell them I love ‘em everyday.

So Joe – to make a short story long – I enjoy engaging in a debate as long as there is rational thought and adult behavior.

    Go Chiefs!

To Real Chiefs Fan- I agree with all that was said, well put.
