Practice Report 9/25 Update
From the Truman Sports Complex
As the Chiefs started their final practice in preparation for Sunday’s game in Philadelphia, ILB Derrick Johnson was riding a stationary bike and WR Dwayne Bowe was practicing, sort of.
Todd Haley said both would be listed as questionable when the team turns in its injury report to the league office Friday afternoon.
On Thursday, Johnson declared himself out of the meeting with the Eagles because of a groin injury. Of course, D.J. hasn’t realized yet that he’s not the final word on whether he dressess or not. That would be Haley. But his work on the bike indicates his chances of being suited up in Philly are slim.
Bowe was on the bike patrol Thursday and the Chiefs reported him as a limited participant in practice. He was with the offense and receivers in the part of Friday’s session open to the media. But to say he was practicing would be a stretch. Bowe did not run as much as trot on his pass routes. He has what Haley called “a problem with his leg”; he was wearing a wrap on his right knee after practice on Thursday.
If Bowe can’t go, Mark Bradley may find himself back in the starting lineup. After the opener in Baltimore, he was pushed aside a bit last week for Bobby Wade.
No matter who, Haley said he needs somebody to pick up the slack if Bowe is down.
“We tell those backup guys all the time that they are only a play away,” said Haley. “Somebody has to step up in that type of situation. Somebody has to produce.”
With Johnson out, the Chiefs will have to alter their nickel defense. Last week, Johnson and Monty Beisel came in at linebacker when the defense brought an extra cornerback on the field. This week it looks like starter Demorrio Williams will stay on the field in the nickel with Beisel.
Haley said that both QB Matt Cassel and CB Brandon Flowers would be listed as probable for Sunday’s game. He also said that LG Brian Waters would be listed as questionable due to the sprained left ankle he suffered last Sunday against Oakland. Waters was a limited participant in practice on Friday.

No Man’s Land, Bike Patrol, ‘Rat Patrol’… it all adds up to ‘team overboard’ as in an 0-7 mark come Sunday night for the dickish duo
&
rat patrol? wtf are you talking about retard? damn crybabies make me sick….
1999 called, they want their smilies back
Sigh, this team will never improve if players that must prove themselves soon or be moved, are hurt…
I guess lets be glad we arent a contender this year with our injury luck
rat patrol? this isnt the broncos while coached by shannahan…

“On Thursday, Johnson declared himself out of the meeting…”
Perhaps this attitude is why DJ got himself demoted. If that’s the case – I don’t blame Haley for doing so.
“*awaiting smart ass, non fact based reply*”
Awaiting it…or inviting it Bubba?

“Awaiting it…or inviting it Bubba?”
Expecting it.
what’s your point mad chief? Miami started out 2-0 last year and finished out 11-5.
errrrr……..0-2 i mean
Small bit of trivia:
Tony Dungy, Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh. Would anyone argue that these guys were not all good coaches? Or great coaches? What do they all have in common?
They all had losing records in their first season as Head Coach.
Dungy 6-10 with the Bucs.
Belichick 6-10 with the Browns
Parcells 3-12-1 for the Giants
Landry 0-11-1 with the Cowboys
Noll 1-13 for the Steelers
Walsh 2-14 with the 49ers
I think they all did fairly well over the course of their careers, though. Wouldn’t you say?
larry says:
“what’s your point mad chief?”
That the Chiefs are 0-2 right now. Someone seems to think our record is 0-6, or 0-7. Looks like to me that we’ve only played two games, same as everyone else. Just trying to help the guy out. I think he’s a little stoned…er, confused.
Hey, I’m stoned and even I’m not THAT confused….i think he must be wired backwards or something, that or we are dealing with some Renaissance festival clown who’s legitimized via internet anonymity. Just look at his flowery elo english crap he posts, 10-1 if you saw this guy in real life you’d laugh your ass off.
“wired backwards”
Three words guys: Oakland Raiders Fan.
he sure knows a lot about the chiefs to be a raiders fan. I think he’s just way to emotionally invested in the herm edwards era for some reason. There’s a few possibilities…. a sentimental old fool maybe, a journalist with a vendetta – resorting to trolling message boards to sway the public where his articles fail, possibly closet homosexual with a penchant for ole herm, who knows? Just way to attached to the 2-14 glory days is all I can tell. A troll for sure, but a raiders fan? That would be a dedicated fan right there….
Keep talking boys, Keep talking!
Rin loves the attention you boys lavish him with!
I just love the attention of boys OH YUMMY!!!!!!!!!
“A troll for sure, but a raiders fan?”
Larry, feel free to go back and read posts for the week leading up to the KC-OAK game (I’ve got better things to do) – but Someone who says “Long live the Raiders” in previous days’ posts and “yup, it’s THE RADUHS HOUSE alright!” is certainly a Chiefs fan.
Tom Landry record year by year for his first 8 years, compared to Herm Edwards same -
*
LANDRY 44-61-5 .419
Landry did not have even one winning season (his first) until [drumroll] YEAR 7 – this included a winless season his first year – that’s right, no wins as in none and a 4th season that was a step down (less wins) than he had in his 3rd year.
Had a Landry been the Chiefs coach, he would have been fired long before he produced those winning seasons and Superbowls … he didn’t even reach a Superbowl until his 11th season; he wouldn’t have lasted two years in KC.
- – - – -
*
EDWARDS 54-74-0 .422
More wins a better winning % & in the same amount of time it took Landry to take but one team only twice to the playoffs Herm took two teams 4 times.
In fact, Herm Edwards took his first 4 teams his first 6 years to the playoffs before he inherited the mess Vermeil left behind in KC.
So to reiterate:
EDWARDS 54-74-0 .422 /1st 8 = 4 years of playoffs
LANDRY 44-61-5 .419 /1st 8 = 2 years of playoffs
Read em and weep – truth, facts & logic Rin Tin Tin prevails AGAIN – as always!
heh heh heh!
Loser Tom and Loser Mad Chief share said… all the coaches referenced and all in unique situations too otherwise had ample time to succeed … that be the difference majorly.
Others too.
Cowher needed a decade & half another to finally win a Superbowl; Schottenheimer never did despite three decades worth of job stability. John Madden an 8th season and Chuck Noll a 6th. Bud Grant and Marv Levy, George Allen an countless others never did.
Rin loves rubbing the uneducated chiefsfandumb noses in it!
heh heh heh!
Rin,
You’re not comparing Edwards to Landry are you? Landry was a class-act, and Edwards is a hack who’s main claims to fame are being in the right place at the right time for a “miracle” against the Giants and a soundbite during a press conference that has made for one hell of a Coors Light commercial.
Logic doesn’t apply when you speak.
JB
Liked your comparisons. But trust me, your post is the ONLY place you’ll ever see Edwards’ name mentioned along with those other coaches names.
You’re truly a one man Herman Edwards propaganda machine, I’ll give ya that much. And I stress the ONE man part, because nobody else in the world thinks Edwards was a good Head Coach.
Your man Herm had “ample time to succeed”. Both in KC and New York. He didn’t. Plain and simple. Besides, what happened to all that “successful career” stuff you were talking about earlier?
Funny how you think Edwards deserved more than three years to produce results for the Chiefs, but have Haley buried after two games.
Rin Tin Tin says:
“Rin loves the attention boys lavish him with!”
That’s just sick.
Josh said
“Rin”
- that’s correct… go on with your defense.
“You’re not comparing Edwards to Landry are you?”
- can’t get anythin’ past you, huh…
“Landry was a class-act, and Edwards is a hack”
- there you see, Rin presents you the facts and having been thoroughly defeated by said, all you can do aft being bent over is evidence pleas of ‘class act’ the one, opposite the other; as such, & as this isn’t Rin denigrating said, but(thole) a Josh, what would you know of class?
“who’s main claims to fame are being in the right place at the right time for a “miracle” against the Giants and a soundbite during a press conference that has made for one hell of a Coors Light commercial.”
- 4 playoff teams in 6 seasons, a better winning % than Landry and more wins…have you contacted
the Commissioner, Elias and the record books any other to see if they concur with you & so might expunge the accomplishments Herm’s? Get back to me babe…
“Logic doesn’t apply when you speak.”
- ra’her, you wouldn’t know logic if Rin spotted you all the letters AND a definition…
heh heh heh!
Rin wins AGAIN – as always!
Meanwhile… Mad Chief crumples to the cellar like the ’09 chiefs a victim his own device – stupidity
Rin’s logic, panache & photographic memory again leaves the pretenders in His wake…heh heh heh!

Think whatever you want. You didn’t refute one single thing I said. The only attempt you made was to try to bring a good man like Tom Landry down by calling him a “loser” and such. The point I made was that those coaches, including Landry, were and are considered good/great coaches by people who know something about the game. The only person on the planet I’ve ever heard call Herman Edwards a great coach is you.
The other points I made, you didn’t touch. Because you couldn’t. I can see your game. You’ve got nothing. My only “stupidity” responding to you.
just ignore it, and it will go away…and I agree you would laugh your ass off if you saw rin in real life.
let him troll this board and fool few that hes a fan, hes actually not, you can tell by the negative tone taken towards the chiefs franchise, not just the players or coaches etc.
his knowledge is typically related to old stuff that can be looked up…he never has much to say on real topics
such as the 28/31 or whatnot who dont have jobs from herm’s team….its pathetic considering two of the 3 with jobs werent herm players, babin was a first round signing, and gonzo already there.
its sad that he wastes his time here on gameday saying HAHA CHIEFS SUCK…HERM THIS BLAH BLAH, ANY 22…whatever…its all really stupid.
Mad (and delusional)Chief (il)logic:
Landry 44 and .419 > Edwards 54 and .422
Right… ‘check’
heh heh heh!
Rin wins AGAIN!!!
RETARDED RIN WINS!!!! WOOO HOOO!
Hey Rin, seriously, why are you on this site 24 hours a day???
You have a life, why don’t you do something outside???
Hey, I can take you to the zoo, I heard retards love the zoo!!!
HEHEHEHEE DUHDUDHDUH
those stats aren’t comparable, all you are doing is making yourself seem more like the manipulative propaganda chine you are.
Great post Rin Tin Tin. Herm Edwards was clearly the superior coach. You’ve proved your point and the naysayers are wrong as usual.
Rin eats diarrhea.
