I’m not sure I’m buying what he said about Kraft not allowing Pioli out unless he gets complete control of the team.
I think that’s a man getting an assist from his employer. I’m betting if Pioli decided he wanted to come to the Chiefs as a GM, Kraft would sign off on it.
Good podcast. It sounds as if the possibility of NE getting compensation for Pioli may be the sticking point to his leaving. I don’t know if that’s possible but we’ve certainly seen compensation in the form of draft picks going back to the other team for head coaches.
I found it interesting that Denny Thum is assisting Clark in his search for a G.M. I thought Denny was taking over as interim G.M. until Carl’s replacement is found – not assisting in the search. John Czarnecki mentioned that Kraft will not let Pioli come to KC because he will not have complete control of the team – specifically mentioning the hiring/firing of coaches. This has me a little concerned.
Smoke and mirrors. I just have a feeling Pioli is first on Clark’s list and 2nd place is a LONG way behind.
You heard it in the podcast and right here from me. Pioli+McDaniels+Cassel = the 2009 Chiefs! Let’s keep dreaming and make it happen Clark! The Chiefs job is the best job out there right now. Cleveland is a close second.
Colby, with 2nd or 3rd overall pick, If a franchise QB is available specifically Stafford then he’ll be the guy. He’s the closest thing to Favre/Elway when they were drafted.
I want proven talent at the QB position. Cassel is young, battle tested, and in my opinion, more talented than Stafford or Bradford.
HOWEVER, if my New England trio scenario doesn’t play out as I want/except, then I agree that drafting a potential franchise QB would be smart if the QBs available seem worthy of that distinction.
We welcome back in 2009 as Chiefs Head Coach Herm Edwards!
