Podcasting: Len’s Look 11/28
Hall of Fame quarterback Len Dawson joins us again this week to continue analyzing the growth of Tyler Thigpen as an NFL quarterback. Len talks about Thigpen’s turnovers from last week and what the next step must be for this young quarterback. He also talks about the Chiefs defense and we talk about whether two teams that are 3-8 and 1-10 can really play a rivalry game.

I too have noticed that Thigpen has been under throwing the ball the last couple of games, I hope he gets that corrected.
Another excellent session with Lenny and Bob. Here’s an idea: Entice Lenny to take a short 4 week vacation from KMBC, fire Dick Curl, and let Lenny sort out the rough edges around Thigpen’s game. Nice thought but what an asset Lenny would be to a young QB.
Lenny also nailed it with this defense: Poor tackling technique and guys running around blocks. Now I heard Krumrie on Hard Knocks last year get on the Tank for running around blocks and yet, either these guys are dumber than a sack of hammers or prefer to take the easy way out.
Either way, something has to happen here. The players are playing soft, running for the bus, wanting the season to end and the coaches are not holding them accountable enough? Sure seems that way.
Sorry, Rich. If you believe herm and gunther this last week, there are improvements and clark is in agreement with herm’s version of the chiefs.
Great stuff Len and Bob. Hope you still giving advice to Thigpen. Good assessment on Tyler’s play. Hopefully Tyler looked at how McNabb handled his situation in Philly by coming out Thursday night and playing good ball. He even joked about the situation in a press confernence before the game saying the janitor told him he would be starting Thursday. That is what Tyler have to do Sunday play loose and just make smart decisions with the football.
As far as the defense goes. ITs time to allow to pick his own defensive coord. Someone who feels comfortable running the Cover 2 and someone who is has a better understanding of putting players in position to make plays in the Cover 2 scheme. Right now we do have some personel issues at middle linebacker and defensive end but they should be playing alot better than what they have been.
This Sunday as far as the Raiders game goes. Put nine in the box. Force Russell to beat you. If he passes for over 300 yards and 3 or 4 touchdowns fine I can live with that. I don’t think thats going to happen but I can live with it. The Raiders are one dimentional on offense. If we can slow down that run game and force them in some passing situations Sunday we should come out on top.

I get your meaning tm1946. I do. I’m also, I think, able to see through the game which is more important than playing the game.
Being a KC born and bred guy, I’m not liking what I’m seeing in terms of the Chiefs and their ‘gameplan’ vis a vis, the young empty suit I’m referring to as Clark Hunt?
I hope I’m wrong.
Rin likes Len’s look…as former teammate his OG Ed Budde once said: “that ‘look’ can scare a 300 lb. offensive lineman.”
