Player Profile: Maurice Leggett

His road to the National Football League has been anything but easy. That’s the way it goes for any college free agent, a player who is not selected in the NFL Draft. It’s even tougher when the player is coming from the Division II college level.
But Maurice Leggett has overcome the obstacles to not only make a place for himself with the Chiefs, but he’s contributing on the field as a rookie. Leggett has become the team’s nickel defensive back and one of the Chiefs top special teams performers. His highlight was last week’s 67-yard return with a fumble on a fake field goal play.
So how does a kid go from McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Georgia, to the NFL, to the Sunday night NFL highlights? Click here to find out.

This guy Leggett reminds me in both type & speed of Deion Sanders. In fact – if that 3 his jersey was a 1, wouldn’t be easy to tell the difference -especially as rapidly as Maurice has come on.
Just this Maurice: leave the sissy-dance routines for the Deion’s of the world.
Una vez mas: if that ’3′ his jersey was a ’2′ – along with his body type – would remind even more so of Deion.
Just this – I’ve seen more hitting out of Leggett in his limited CB play this season than I did out of Sanders in his football lifetime.
Like deion sanders. ROFLMAO!
Deion “ran a 4.18 in the 40 yard dash making him the second fastest in the NFL to Darrell Green, who ran a 4.12.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deion_Sanders
We’d be lucky if Maurice ran a 4.4
That was “some” reporting telling us Leggett’s favorite class, hero, meal, team and ride.
How about giving us some hard facts about his speed?
Laughing be good for the soul – as such, Rin’s becomes violently giddy whene’er reads He blog the green-eyed faction – medically speaking of course. Alas of late have not laughed and too, have not read…I’m sadder for said as such, & yet ‘wiser’ too.
Let us revisit the facts Rin’s opine as stated: Leggett has the same body type Sanders, 21 his jersey ‘stead a 31 which too would augment the similarity, and his speed is excellent – ‘just like Sanders’.
Fixation on one aspect a bloggers post – while ignoring the rest – leaves but the ignorer nee ignoramus looking rather…well, ig- silly, as twere (and that’s being kind.)
Reiterating for the short-termers memory, biggest difference -Leggett tackles, Sanders looked for a soft place to land.
Game, set, match…Rin.
heh heh heh
Rin,
you sure sound like Festus from GunSmoke.
Maurice is nothing like Deion. Not in ‘type’ or ‘speed’
Deion was one of the best ‘shut down’ corners in the history of the NFL. Legett, is an undrafted rookie nickle back.
Oh dear…now I’ve upset you. Guess you’ll just have to go on through the life yours sans Rin’s affirmation your opinions, any.
Rin won’t tell you what you sound like.
heh heh heh
Since we’re all ready comparing young Maurice Leggett to former great CBs, I’m inclined to think Kevin Ross when watching Leggett. Leggett hits like a safety and wears the same number (31) as KC’s version of “the Rock” wore.
In a season of disappointment, Leggett has been one of a handful of nice surprises, along with Thigpen, Bradley, Babin, Boiman, and the other two young CBs.
His play has been so much better than Dimitri Patterson or anyone else brought in, I always would think, 22, messing up again, now I get to think 31, right where hes supposed to be.
Whoah…Legget is like Deion? Guys’ stop drinking the kool aid. The guy had one really good game. He’s playing nickel back for a team that has two wins….crazy.
Maurice ‘Deion’ Leggett: INT, TD KC – 10-0 Chiefs.
Any questions doubters?
heh heh heh
Rin can’t “HEAR’ you! The silence be deafening!
