It took a full year after he was fired by the Chiefs for anybody in the NFL to offer Scott Pioli a job.
When that moment came, it was an old friend that stepped forward and gave him a place to land.
Pioli has been hired by the Atlanta Falcons as their assistant general manager. He will work with G.M. Thomas Dimitroff, who is one of Pioli’s best friends in the business and they worked together in personnel for many years in New England.
After watching the 2013 season as a member of the media with NBC, Pioli was actively seeking a front office job in the league. But he did not get a phone call from either Miami or Tampa Bay, teams working to hire new general managers.
In the four seasons he was in charge of the Chiefs, Pioli’s record as G.M. was 23-42.
