NFL Suspends Official For ‘Inappropriate Language’

Veteran NFL umpire Roy Ellison will not be at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to work with the crew of referee Walt Coleman in the Chiefs-Chargers game.

The league suspended him for one game for profane and derogatory comments made to Washington Redskins LT Trent Williams in last Sunday’s game against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Ellison is suspended for one game without pay for using what the league described as “inappropriate language” towards Williams. Just before half-time of the Redskins-Eagles game, Williams said that Ellison walked past him and called him a “garbage-(expletive), disrespectful mother (expletive).”

No word yet on who might replace Ellison on Sunday for the Chiefs-Chargers game.
