Medical report

New EnglandTE Rob Gronkowski will undergo surgery on his left forearm Monday at Massachuettes General Hospital. It’s the fourth operation on the arm. Doctors will test the plate in his arm for infection. That will take approximately a week to find out. If he’s free of the infection that’s dogged him since the 3rd surgery, doctors will go back in and put a new plate on the bone, with approximately a 10-week rehab. If there is still infection, then it will require more surgeries and time, likely wiping out his entire training camp, pre-season and possibly even regular season games.

Other items

NFL owners – will meet starting Monday evening in Boston, where the prime item on the agenda is voting on the sites for Super Bowl L and Super Bowl LI. The candidates for the 50th game in February 2016 are the San Francisco Bay Area and South Florida. The loser of that decision will then compete with Houston to host the 51st title tilt in February 2017. Super Bowls are set the next two years in the New Jersey Meadowlands and then Glendale, Arizona. First ballot requires 24 of 32 teams to vote for a host. On the second and subsequent ballots, it takes 17 votes for a decision. The voting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
