Other signings

Detroit – signed QB Matthew Stafford to a 3-year contract extension for $53 million, including a $27.5 million signing bonus. He now has deal with the Lions that averages more than $15 million with $43 million in guaranteed money in the future. Stafford will now receive over $76 million in the next five seasons.

Law & Disorder

Denver – Another executive for the Broncos was arrested on DUI charges. Director of pro personnel Tom Heckert, the former GM of the Browns, was charged on June 11 in Parker, Colorado with driving under the influence and careless driving. Last weekend, Denver’s player personnel director Matt Russell was arrested in a DUI case.

New England – a Massachusetts judge ruled that the search warrants and other documents supporting those orders in the case of former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez should be made public. Under orders of the court, the documents had been sealed, but the eight search warrants and documentation were made available Tuesday afternoon. Hernandez is charged with murder in the death of Odin Lloyd. Part of those records indicated that Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez fiancé told police that Lloyd was a marijuana dealer but she then clamed up after receiving a call from Hernandez telling her not to speak without an attorney in the room.

BaltimoreLB Rolando McClain pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges on Tuesday. He was assigned a December court date. The incident happened in his hometown Decatur, Alabama. McClain is on the Ravens reserve-retired list.

If I remember correctly, Heckert was rumored to be the our other main GM candidate, along with Dorsey. I’m sure glad we went with Dorsey. I bet Elway is furious. Both of these executives were his two top personnel people. I always love to see problems with the Donkeys.
