NFL Almanac – 2/20

Items of note

Indianapolis – former Colts DE Dwight Freeney expected something other than being released by the team last week. He told the Indianapolis Star: “I was surprised the way it happened. I figured they would offer me something low and I would just accept it, go the last few years and retire a Colt. That didn’t happen.” Former teammate Peyton Manning has already contacted Freeney about joining him in Denver with the Broncos.

New England – Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard was found guilty of assault in a police officer in Lincoln, Nebraska several days before the 2012 NFL Draft. The Lincoln Journal-Star reported Dennard, a 7th-round choice for New England last year out of Nebraska, faces six years in prison. He will be sentenced on April 11.

Transactions

San Diego – claimed CB Johnny Patrick on waivers from New Orleans; Patrick was a 3rd-round choice of the Saints in 2011 who was released earlier in the week.
